Please help my wife and our adult kid's and please help me take care of my family and my job responsibilities. Amen 🙏? Are you listening to me . Please help my son ###. Amen. I'm sorry for not being a better Dad and that I just tried to work hard to provide for my family with money and I should have been there for them But you know what. I really did the best that I could do at that time. Looking back I may have done a few things differently. But tonight I will rest and I will wake up tomorrow morning and I will be a better husband and a better person and a better dad and a better man and a better employee. Thank you Jesus Christ my lord and Savior. Amen

We hear the deep ache in your heart, and we come before the throne of grace with you, lifting up your burdens in the name of Jesus Christ. Your honesty about your struggles, with alcohol, with guilt over the past, with the pain of seeing your children walk through hardship, is not ignored by our Heavenly Father. He sees every tear, hears every cry, and holds you in His hands even when it feels like the weight of the world is pressing down. You are not alone in this.

First, we want to affirm the truth that you did do the best you could with what you knew at the time. Parenting is a sacred responsibility, but it is also one that no human being does perfectly. The enemy would love to keep you trapped in regret, whispering that you failed irreparably. But Scripture tells us, "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning" (Lamentations 3:22-23 WEB). God’s grace is not a one-time gift, it is fresh every day, and He is not finished with you or your family. Your willingness to wake up tomorrow and strive to be better is evidence of His work in you.

We must address the alcohol with urgency, for it is a master that seeks to destroy. "Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves as servants to obedience, his servants you are whom you obey; whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness?" (Romans 6:16 WEB). The bottle promises escape, but it only deepens the chains. Jesus came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18), and His power is greater than any addiction. We rebuke the spirit of bondage in your life and declare that you will walk in freedom. But this battle requires action: seek accountability, remove temptation from your home, and consider professional help or a Christ-centered recovery program. You cannot do this alone, and there is no shame in reaching out for support.

To your son and daughter, we speak life. The enemy has stolen years from them, but God is the Redeemer of all things. "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds" (Psalm 147:3 WEB). We pray for their hearts to be softened, for their minds to be renewed, and for them to encounter the love of Christ in a way that breaks every chain. For your son, especially, who has walked through the valley of addiction, we declare that his story is not over. "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a contrite spirit" (Psalm 34:18 WEB). We rebuke the lies that tell him he is beyond hope, and we pray for divine intervention in his life. May he find his identity in Christ, not in his past.

To your marriage, we pray for restoration. The enemy seeks to divide, but God designed marriage to reflect His love, a love that is patient, kind, and persevering. "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you" (Ephesians 4:31-32 WEB). Ask your wife for forgiveness where you have fallen short, and extend grace to her as well. Marriage is a covenant, and God is faithful to heal what is broken when we surrender it to Him.

You asked if God is listening. Oh, brother, He is not only listening, He is moving. "The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and his ears toward their cry" (Psalm 34:15 WEB). You have already taken the first step by crying out to Him. Now, take the next step: walk in obedience. Replace the time spent drinking with time in the Word. Replace isolation with fellowship. Replace regret with repentance and trust in God’s ability to redeem.

Let us pray with you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, but also with hope, because we know that You are a God who hears and answers prayer. Lord, we lift up this brother to You, who is fighting battles on every front, against addiction, against guilt, against the enemy’s lies. We thank You that You are the God of second chances, the God who makes all things new. We ask that You would break the chains of alcohol in his life. Give him the strength to resist temptation, the wisdom to seek help, and the humility to rely on You. Father, we rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name and declare that he is free.

Lord, we pray for his children, especially his son who has struggled with addiction. We ask that You would intervene in his life in a powerful way. Soften his heart, open his eyes to the truth, and surround him with people who will point him to You. Let him know that his past does not define him, and that You have a future and a hope for him. For his daughter, we ask that You would draw her close to You and heal any wounds in her heart.

Father, we pray for restoration in his marriage. Where there has been hurt, bring healing. Where there has been distance, bring closeness. Help him and his wife to communicate with love and patience, and to build their marriage on the foundation of Your Word. Give them unity in their parenting and in their walk with You.

Lord, we ask that You would strengthen him in his job and in his role as a provider. Give him favor with his employers and the ability to work with integrity and diligence. Help him to be a light in his workplace, reflecting Your love and grace.

Finally, Father, we ask that You would fill him with Your peace. The enemy would love to keep him trapped in guilt and shame, but You have set him free. Remind him daily that Your mercies are new every morning, and that You are not finished with him yet. Give him the courage to wake up each day and choose You, to be the husband, father, and man You have called him to be.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the name by which we are saved and set free. Amen.

You are not defined by your past or your struggles. You are defined by who God says you are: a beloved son, a warrior in His kingdom, and a man who is being transformed by His grace. Keep pressing into Him. Keep fighting the good fight. And remember, "being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6 WEB). You are not alone. We are standing with you, and more importantly, God is with you.

Thank you for pouring out your heart like this. We can hear how much you want to be free and whole, for yourself, for your wife, for your kids. That ache you feel isn't proof that God has given up on you; it's proof He is still at work, drawing you toward the life you were made for. He hasn't walked away, and He won't.

You said you did the best you could at the time, and we believe you. Hindsight can be cruel, but it doesn't erase the love you have or the prayers you're praying now. Your kids may be carrying their own struggles, but you're still their dad, and your choice to fight for a better tomorrow matters. It's never too late for your relationship with them to deepen and heal.

We know you want to stop drinking today. Willpower alone can feel exhausting and fragile. We'd gently encourage you to also reach for practical help: a doctor can talk with you about safe ways to step away from alcohol, and a support group or a recovery ministry can give you people who truly understand the battle. You don't have to figure this out alone, and asking for help takes real strength.

For tonight, simply rest in the truth that you are not beyond hope. You are a man who prays, who loves his family, and who is willing to get up tomorrow and try again. That's holy ground.

Jesus, we stand with our brother in his weariness. Quiet his heart, lift the shame, and give him the courage to take the next small step toward wholeness. Surround his wife and kids with Your mercy, and restore what feels broken. In Your name we pray, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

What you have written echoes the mournful cry of Job, "Oh that I were as in months past!" That natural regret rises from a heart aware of what has been lost and what might have been done differently. You say you did the best you could at that time, and looking back you would alter some things. Yet remember: many have been on Job's dunghill who knew nothing of Job's God. Do not merely sit in regret, for it is unprofitable to read these words and say, "That is how I feel," and then continue in the same way. Job's regret drove him not deeper into despair but into the dust before his Maker, where at last he cried, "I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear, but now mine eye seeth thee. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes."

You ask God to help you stop being an alcoholic, to make you a better husband, a better father, a better man. The very leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing. His leaves change the lifeblood, affect the spirits, and make the nature other than it was before. Healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy, He said, "Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee." Pardon and healing were one. The Lord has begun to heal His people, and the healing virtue which His grace has infused will work health and cure till there is no spot or wrinkle remaining. Cry to Him for this healing, and it will come from the pardoning hand.

You fear God has given up on you. But hear this: if a soul is truly a child by adoption into His family, he cannot lose his childship, nor God His fatherhood, be he who or what he may. The doctrine of universal fatherhood is a lie, for Jesus Himself distinguished between those who do the deeds of their father the devil and those who have God as their Father through faith. But to the one who comes in true childlike dependence, the Spirit witnesses, "Our Father." That relationship is not dissolved by our failures any more than a son ceases to be a son because he has wandered. The fatherhood is recognized by the childship of the child, that sweet spirit that makes him recognize and love his father.

Yet we must not presume. Sin has defaced the image of God, but the grace of God will renew it. If we will but believe in Christ, we need hardly regret that we have fallen, for He will so effectually restore us that all trace of sin shall be forever removed. Look at Peter: his fall was dreadful, but his restoration was swift and complete. That look from Christ severed him from the crowd and broke his heart, yet also bound him forever to the Good Shepherd who charged him three times to feed His sheep. The crowing of the cock and a look from the Lord, such small means, yet mighty to restore. God can use a sermon, a memory, a verse, or a sleepless night to turn a wanderer back. If any of us have wandered into sin, we may yet get such a restoration from the Lord Himself that we shall become better Christians ever afterwards.

You mourn that you worked hard to provide money but were not present as you ought. Though this brings sorrow, do not add to it an unbelieving charge against God. "In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly." He tore his mantle, shaved his head, fell down upon the ground, and worshipped. A parent may weep much over a child and yet not sin, grief and love are sacred things. But let that grief drive you to the God who alone can heal your family wounds and supply what your own strength could not. Look to Him for divine support. If God could uphold Job in all his losses, He can support you.

Rise, then, from the ashes. Confess your helplessness, retract all pleadings and challenges. If the case is "Jehovah versus you," yield the point unreservedly. We are wrong, God must be right. Then go forth: tomorrow morning be the better husband, the better father, the better man. Not in your own power, but because the Sun of Righteousness has risen upon you with healing in His wings. His salvation will perfectly heal even the memories that sting and the habits that bind. Welcome to pardon and healing through our Lord Jesus. God bless you.

You speak of sorrow and regret, and I perceive in your words a grief that is not of this world only but a godly sorrow. Do not despise it. Such sorrow works repentance unto salvation, a repentance that brings no regret. The Apostle himself wrote a stern letter and regretted it, yet when he saw the fruit of that sorrow, he rejoiced. So it is with you: you look back and lament that you were not the father you ought to have been, that you gave money but not your presence. That very pang is the Spirit stirring you, not to drown you in despair, but to lift you toward a new life. The drunkard’s sorrow is a fleeting sting that seeks the bottle for relief, but yours is mingled with prayer and a resolve to do better. That is the work of grace.

Consider the parents of Moses. They saw that the child was proper, and by faith they hid him, defying the king’s command. Their faith was not a boast in perfect parenting, but trust that God had a purpose for that child. Even now, with your children grown and walking difficult paths, do not cast away your faith. The same God who watched over the infant in the ark of bulrushes watches over your son, even if he has wandered far. Plead for him, as that Egyptian woman was moved with compassion by the grace she saw. Nothing is too hard for the Lord. Your past failures do not bind His hands; bring your broken heart to Him and He will not despise it.

As for the grip of strong drink, learn from the child whom Christ set in the midst. That little one was lowly, artless, free from envy and vainglory. When the craving rises, become as such a child: acknowledge your weakness, flee to your Father, and trust not in your own strength. The longsuffering man is abundant in wisdom; he is not wounded by the darts of temptation as a furious child is driven by passion. When the urge strikes, laugh at it in your soul, as you would laugh at a child striking out in rage. Do not rage against yourself, for that only feeds the fire. Be long-suffering. Endure the thirst for a moment, and it will pass. Cry out to Christ, and He will give you the living water after which you shall never thirst again.

You ask if God is listening. He has heard your groaning. He saw your tears. He is the Father of the prodigal, always watching for your return. Do you imagine a good father would give up on his child who repents? Far more does your heavenly Father wait for you. The regret you feel now is a medicine, not a poison. Receive it, and let it drive you to the Savior. As the Apostle said, I do not regret, though I once did regret; for the fruit of your repentance will swallow up the pain. So arise, take up your resolve, and flee from the Herods that seek to destroy your soul: despair, self-pity, the false comfort of the cup. Take the young Child, that is, Christ formed in you, and His mother, the Church, and flee into the stronghold of prayer.

Marriage is a great mystery: a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two become one flesh. In that union, find strength against temptation. Cherish your wife, and let her love be a guard to you. Love your children now, not with money, but with the riches of a godly example and your very presence, imperfect as it may feel. And rest tonight in peace, for He grants sleep to those He loves. Tomorrow, rise and walk in newness of life. Do not trust in your own promises, but in the grace of Christ who makes all things new. He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion.

Your prayer rises from a place of deep honesty, and that kind of broken, open confession is exactly what the Father receives. You do not need to wonder if He is listening. Through Jesus Christ, you have direct access to the Father’s heart. The Son Himself told us that He does not need to ask the Father on our behalf as if the Father were distant or reluctant. The Father Himself loves you because you have loved the Son and believed in Him. Your words of thanks for Jesus show that faith, and that faith connects you straight to the throne.

The grip of alcohol is real, but it is not stronger than the One who lives in you. Jesus Christ can set you free from alcoholism. He can break any power of sin that holds a person captive. You do not have to remain a servant to it. When you wake up tomorrow with that resolve to be a better man, a better husband, and a better employee, do not lean on your own determination alone. Rest in this truth: the Father loves you supremely. Nothing touches your life that He does not allow, and He works all things for His purpose because He loves you and has called you according to that purpose. Trust His control, and ask Him to live through you.

Your regret as a father is heavy, and you see things now you wish you had done differently when your children were young. Yet this is not the end of your influence. The call on a husband is beautifully simple: just one rule to remember. Love your wife as Christ loved the church. Christ gave Himself. He did not just provide; He was present. When you love your wife like that, when she knows beyond any doubt that you love her supremely, it transforms the entire home. Your love for her makes it a joy for her to walk alongside you. Your marriage is not held together by a long list of complex instructions. God gives one rule for the husband: love. He gives one rule for the wife: submit. When a husband loves sacrificially, the whole structure stands secure. If you want to be a better husband, focus on that single, powerful command: give yourself to her in patience, in service, in cherishing her above all else.

As for your children, continue to carry them to the Father in prayer. The Scriptures remind us that a believing parent brings sanctifying influence into a home. Do not accept the lie that your past mistakes define their future. God is working. And remember, the apostle John said he rejoiced greatly to find believers’ children walking in truth. That is a hope you can hold onto.

You said you did the best you could at that time, and tonight you resolved to rest and rise anew. That resolution is right, but let it rest on a surer foundation than your own strength. Set your heart on pleasing the Father. Ask yourself, "What would please Him in this moment?" Jesus is the perfect representation of the Father. To see how the Son loves is to see the Father’s heart. Let that love flow through you toward your wife and your family. The Father has not given up on you. He never will. Your reaching out to Him right now is proof that He holds you firmly. Sleep in that peace.
