Jesus Christ please help me

Galialarindale

Disciple of Prayer
Dear God please help me. I am an alcoholic. I'm a very old tired man. I called out from work today because I want to lay in my bed and drink alcohol for the rest of the day. I have to call my insurance company today to explain the accident that I had last week. Please help me to be able to maintain a good relationship with my wife after ### years and my employer after ### years and I felt like giving up. I really need you to help me and to just hug me and to tell me that it's going to be okay. I appreciate this service and I appreciate ###!

Eternal Punishment, or the Logic of Damnation
Delayed justice does not mean sin is safe so you must turn from it now.
A Bloody Monster
The monster of drunkenness destroys lives and families, demanding we reject it to protect our homes and future.
High License the Monopoly of Abomination
High license makes alcohol respectable and dangerous, so reject any compromise with evil.
We hear your cry and we are praying with you and for you in the name of Jesus Christ, and we thank you for calling upon His name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.

We hear how tired and worn down you are, and how heavy the burden of alcohol has become, and how you felt like giving up and just staying in bed to drink today. We want to love you truthfully, and Scripture tells us plainly about wine and strong drink. Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise. Proverbs 20:1 and also Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit. Ephesians 5:18 We say this not to condemn you, but because we love you and because drunkenness harms your body which is a temple of the Holy Spirit, harms your witness, and harms the precious relationships God has given you. The desire to hide in bed and drink will not bring the comfort and hug you are longing for, it will only deepen the weariness and put your marriage and your employment of many years at greater risk. God wants to set you free, for you were called for freedom. Stand firm therefore, and don't submit again to the yoke of bondage. Galatians 5:1

We also hear your weariness as an older man, and God sees it too. He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might. Isaiah 40:29 Even in old age you can still bear fruit and know His strength, and Jesus Himself says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 Your feeling of wanting to give up is understood by the Lord, but we encourage you not to give up, for in due season we will reap, if we don't faint. Galatians 6:9 and Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18

We are praying for your marriage that has lasted for so many years. God ordained marriage as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, and He honors faithfulness. We pray that you will be honest with your wife and let her support you rather than hiding the struggle from her, and that your many years together will be strengthened as you walk in sobriety and truth. We are also praying for your employer and that relationship of many years, that God will give you favor and integrity as you make that difficult phone call to the insurance company today about the accident. Honesty and sobriety will best protect that testimony. No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 That way of escape today is to get up, pour out the alcohol, call upon Jesus for strength, and make the call with a clear mind.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear brother to You. We thank You that he called upon the name of Jesus. Lord, wrap Your arms around him today by Your Holy Spirit and let him feel that he is not alone and not forsaken. Tell him in his heart that You are with him, for You have said Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10 Father, forgive him for the times he has turned to alcohol instead of turning to You, and cleanse him and give him a new desire to be filled with Your Spirit instead. Give him strength to get out of that bed, to turn away from the drink today, to make the phone call he needs to make with honesty and a sober mind. Protect his marriage and restore what alcohol has strained, and give his wife grace and understanding. Protect his employment and give his employer grace. Renew his strength like the eagle's, even in his older years, and take away the spirit of giving up and replace it with hope. We can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us. Philippians 4:13 We pray he will reach out today for help beyond this prayer, to a pastor, a trusted Christian brother, a counselor or a doctor, and to a Christ centered recovery fellowship, so he does not battle this alone. Let this day be a turning point where he chooses life and sobriety in You. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to take one step at a time today in the strength Christ gives. Get up, pray out loud, pour out any alcohol in the house, drink water and eat, call your wife and tell her you need prayer, and then make that insurance call sober and truthfully. If you feel you might harm yourself or continue drinking without control, please reach out immediately to a trusted family member, pastor, or medical professional or a crisis helpline in your area. God has not finished with you yet, and it can be well with your soul as you walk with Him one day at a time. We are continuing to pray for you.

We hear how tired and worn down you feel right now, and we are grateful you reached out instead of carrying this alone. Wanting to stay in bed and drink, feeling like giving up after so many years with your wife and your employer, and facing that insurance call after your accident is a heavy load to carry in one day.

You asked for a hug and to be told it will be okay. We can't promise how every situation will turn out, but we want you to know you are seen and cared for, by us and by the Lord who is near when we feel at our lowest.

When everything feels like too much, it can help to take just the next small step rather than trying to fix it all at once. If you are able, consider making that insurance call earlier in the day before the urge to drink gets stronger, and letting your wife know honestly that you stayed home and are struggling today so she is not left to wonder. It would also be a good step to reach out today to a trusted pastor, counselor, or your doctor, and to a local recovery support group, for ongoing help with alcohol use. We encourage you to see a medical professional alongside prayer, not instead of it.

We are praying for you.

Father, we lift this tired brother to You in Jesus' name. Wrap him in Your comfort today, give him strength for the call he needs to make and for honest conversation with his wife, and guide him to the right help and support for the days ahead. Give him rest, wisdom, and hope for each next step. Amen.

Thank you for your prayers and advice. Thank you friends that have prayed for me and my family. I so appreciate you and I pray for all of you that God will help you with your needs. I hope and I pray that I can get through this day and tomorrow morning to be able to wake up and put my Big boys pants on to get back to work and to support my family and my employer and to be a better man. Amen 🙏

You have poured out a weary and heavy heart before the Lord, and He hears such cries. To be an old and tired man, to feel the weight of drink upon you, to have missed work and to face an accident and the need to speak truthfully to those to whom you are accountable, and to feel like giving up, this is a sore burden indeed. Yet the Lord has not left you without hope, for He is the God of hope.

You say you have wearied yourself in the greatness of your way. Hear this truth for your soul, salvation is of the Lord, and your deliverance from your present state of sin and guilt must come from the right hand of the Most High. It cannot in any degree or in any measure come from yourself. Hopelessness in self is what we would bring you to, but hopelessness in God would be a sin from which we would urge you to escape. There is no warrant for despair while God lives and while mercy still invites you to come.

Do not say, my hope is lost. God is the sinner's hope and He is not lost. While you live, you may hope, and while you hope, you live. Your life lies in hope, and while you have hope you have life. Despair believes the lie of hell and rejects the Word of God from heaven, but faith lays hold upon the rope of mercy that is cast to the sinner even now.

That mercy is in Jesus Christ alone. Rest not in resolutions and doings and works, but rest in Jesus Christ alone. He is the same yesterday, today and forever, one who never flinches from His purpose. He has loved His own to the end, and though His heart was heavy even unto death, His love did not fail. He still lives in the place of power and in the place of observation, and He graciously interposes for those who cry to Him. He delights in mercy, and His silver bell still rings, Come unto me, all you that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

You ask for help to maintain a good relationship with your wife after these many years and with your employer after these many years. This is good and right, for marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, ordained of God, and faithfulness in your calling before your employer is also good. Do not be weary in doing good. Pluck up courage and hope on, hope always. Go to your wife and to your employer in truthfulness and humility, confessing where you have failed and seeking to walk in honesty this day. Call your insurance company and speak the truth plainly, as before God, for the Lord loves truth and will honour the honest tongue even when it trembles.

And concerning the drink which has become a master over you, know that many are born slaves and some become slaves willingly, but the Lord Jesus Christ can set the home born slave at liberty and break the chain of willing bondage. If you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, you are set free from the law of sin and death by the highest possible authority. Cry to Him not to bless your remaining in that bondage, but to blot out your sin and to begin that blessed work of regeneration and sanctification in your heart, that the Holy Spirit may work in you and you may advance from strength to strength till you are made pure in Him. He that has this hope in Him purifies himself, even as He is pure.

Take therefore the patience and comfort of the Scriptures. Hope comes to us and is strengthened in us by that Word. Talk to your own soul as the psalmist did, Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me, hope you in God, for I shall yet praise Him. Let your whole soul be invigorated by this hope, that if you are in Christ, when He comes in His glory you shall be with Him and reign with Him forever. This is a hope grounded on the Word of God and the faithfulness of God, and it makes no man ashamed who has it.

Do not lay in your bed to drink for the rest of the day. Rise, and in the strength the Lord gives you, do the next faithful thing. If you feel like giving up, tell your wife or a trusted pastor or a faithful friend this very hour, and seek help at once from a godly minister and, as you are able, from those who can help you with the body as well as the soul. If distress grows heavy, reach out immediately to someone near you or to a crisis helpline in your country and do not remain alone.

We will pray for you now.

O Lord God of hope, look upon this weary man. Forgive his sins for the sake of Jesus Christ who bore our sins upon the cross. Cast not away his prayer. Fill him with all joy and peace in believing, that he may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Give him strength to turn from strong drink and to walk in sobriety this day, to speak truthfully to his wife, to his employer, and to those who require an account, and to find his rest not in the bottle but in Christ alone. Keep his marriage and his daily work under Your mercy, and let him yet praise You who is the health of his countenance and his God. Amen.

Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near, and abide in His Word daily.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Calling out of work because you want to spend the day drinking sounds like a hard place to be, especially when you name yourself an alcoholic and still want help. There is a spoken prayer called the Addiction Clearing Prayer on the One Prayer at a Time YouTube channel, prayed over breaking cravings and loosening the hold of old habits. Listening is all it asks of you. I hope it brings you some steadier ground to stand on.
