Disciple of Prayer
Dear God please help me. I have been a alcoholic for many years. I have been with my wife and my friend for over ### years. I have worked very hard for all of my life. Tomorrow morning please soften the hearts of my bosses and my coworkers and my coworkers and my wife. I have a termite inspection today this morning and I need to go to work later on today or maybe I need to take the day off from work if I can have my carport treated for the termites that I have been after for the last few weeks. I really don't want to work today. I just want to kill the termites in my carport and to not have many more inspections by many other companies. I just want to get my work done correctly at home and to be able to go back to work Wednesday with no problems with my bosses or my wife. It's early in the morning and I don't want to go back to sleep and I just want to stay up and drink my Jim beam and Sprite and somehow get my carport treated for termites and to be able to go back to work and get my projects and proposals and invoices done correctly and on time. Please help me overcome my AUD and to be a better person and a better husband and a better dad to our adult kid's and a better worker Bee

We have read your request and we hear the heaviness and weariness in your heart and we join with you in seeking God's will together in Jesus' name. We thank you for calling on the name of Jesus Christ for help, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved and by which we have access to the Father, as Acts 4:12 and John 14:6 teach us, and we are encouraged that you have turned to Him.

We want to lovingly and firmly address what you have shared about alcohol. You have been honest that you have struggled with alcohol for many years and that even early this morning you desire to stay up and drink Jim Beam and Sprite instead of sleeping or seeking the Lord. Scripture is very clear about this. Ephesians 5:18 says, Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit. Proverbs 20:1 says, Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise. And 1 Peter 5:8 calls us to be sober and self-controlled. Alcohol use disorder is not just a habit, it is sin that masters us and harms the body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit, as 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 teaches, and it keeps you from being the husband, father and worker God calls you to be. We must rebuke the desire to turn to drink for comfort, for strength, or to cope with anxiety about work and home, and we urge you in love to turn from it completely today. God promises in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able to bear, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, and in John 8:36 that if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. We encourage you to pour out what remains, to not take that first drink this morning, to confess this struggle to God who is faithful to forgive as 1 John 1:9 promises, and to seek help in the body of Christ through a pastor, a trusted godly counselor, and medical help and accountability, for James 5:16 calls us to confess our sins to one another and pray for one another that we may be healed.

We also hear your burden for your marriage, your adult children, your work, and your home. We praise God for your long marriage and your desire to be a better husband and father and worker. This aligns with God's heart. Marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, and Ephesians 5:25 calls husbands to love their wives even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it. Your desire to honor your wife, to be faithful and present for your adult children, and to work diligently is good and pleasing to the Lord. Colossians 3:23 reminds us, Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. We understand your anxiety about the termite inspection in your carport, the need to decide about taking the day off, and your desire to get your projects and proposals and invoices done correctly and on time and to have favor with your bosses and coworkers. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And 1 Peter 5:7 says to cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you. God cares even about the details of your home and your work.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we lift up our brother to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We thank You that he has called on Your name and that You hear him. Lord, we ask for Your mercy and deliverance from alcohol. Break the chains that have bound him for many years. Give him a hatred for drunkenness and a hunger for Your Spirit. Strengthen him this very morning to choose sobriety, to choose prayer over drinking, to choose Your strength over Jim Beam. Forgive him and cleanse him and make him a new creation as 2 Corinthians 5:17 promises. Heal his body and his mind and restore what has been damaged. Soften his own heart first, Lord, to walk in obedience and humility.

We also ask You to soften the hearts of his wife, his bosses and his coworkers, and to give him favor and grace as he communicates honestly about his need to care for his home today. Help him to be truthful and responsible, not to hide or deceive, but to speak with integrity and to work diligently when he returns on Wednesday. Provide wisdom for the termite treatment, that it would be effective and that he would not need many more inspections, and give him peace and competence to complete his projects, proposals and invoices correctly and on time. Help him to be the husband and father You call him to be, loving, sober-minded, faithful and present, and to be a diligent worker bee for Your glory. Sustain him when he is weary, for Isaiah 41:10 says, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Lead him step by step out of this struggle and into freedom in Christ. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior. Amen.

We hear how heavy this morning feels for you, with so much pressing in at once, the termite inspection, the worry about work and your bosses and coworkers, wanting things to go well at home with your wife, and underneath it all the long struggle with alcohol and the desire to be the husband, dad and worker you want to be.

It makes sense you would want tomorrow to go smoothly and to get the carport taken care of without more inspections and stress. You have worked hard for many years, and we also hear your honest desire to change and to care well for your family and your responsibilities.

When so many pressures pile up, it helps not to carry them alone. One steady next step could be reaching out today to one trusted support while you pray, your doctor or counselor, a pastor, or a recovery group like Alcoholics Anonymous in your area, to talk openly about the alcohol use and what help might be available going forward. For work, a brief, clear message to your boss about the inspection and whether you need the day off can also ease some of the worry you are carrying about Wednesday.

We encourage you to connect with a medical or counseling professional alongside prayer, not instead of it, for support with alcohol use.

We bring you before the Lord now. Jesus, we lift this brother to You and ask for Your mercy and strength today. Give him wisdom for the inspection and for work decisions, peace in his home, and help and support as he seeks to turn from alcohol and grow as a husband, father and worker. Guide him to the right people who can walk with him, and keep him in Your care. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your honest cry in the early morning has been heard, and we have brought it before the Lord with care and prayer. You have spoken plainly about a long and heavy struggle with alcohol, about the burdens of work and home, about the termite trouble in your carport, and about your deep desire to be a better husband, a better father to your adult children, and a faithful workman. The Lord sees you in this hour, and He is near to those who call upon Him in truth.

We thank God that you have turned to Jesus Christ for help, for there is no other name by which we may be saved, and no other strength by which we may stand. It is a thing greatly to be desired that you should be strengthened with God's strength, for then you are prepared to do the Lord's work effectually in your home and in your calling. That strength does not come from Jim Beam and Sprite, which promises relief but leaves weakness and sorrow behind it. It comes from Christ alone, who bore our sins and who gives power to those who trust Him.

You asked for help to overcome this bondage, and we pray earnestly that God will work in you mightily to that end. Know this, that the work of the Holy Spirit does not lull a man into sloth, but wherever He works He makes men to work. The apostle speaks of an inner mighty work and also says, whereunto I also labor, striving. So we urge you, as you look to Christ, to also labor in the ways He has appointed. Cast yourself with all your weight upon the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, and then, in His strength, take the next faithful steps. Seek help openly for this affliction. Speak honestly with a faithful pastor, seek wise medical counsel for alcohol use, and put yourself under daily accountability where others can walk with you and pray with you. Recovery is often slow, and as you grow a little stronger and a little stronger, acknowledge in each increase of strength that the Lord has a new claim upon your affection and obedience. Do not despise small beginnings, but give thanks for every sober hour and every clear mind He grants.

You asked that the hearts of your bosses, your coworkers and your wife would be softened tomorrow. We do pray that the Lord would give them grace and understanding toward you. Yet we also pray that He would soften and strengthen your own heart to walk in truthfulness and diligence. The best way to honor your wife and your employers is not to seek to avoid difficulty, but to deal plainly and honestly with them. If you need time to treat the carport rightly, tell them so in truth, and do your work heartily as unto the Lord. God can afford to wait with His work, but we must work the works of Him that sent us while it is day. That means doing your projects and proposals and invoices correctly and on time, not in a fussy and hurried way, but with quiet strength and faithful care, rendering to every man what is due.

We also hear your love for your wife and family. Marriage is not a light contract but a covenant in which two become one, cemented by mutual love and faithfulness. Pray that God would make you steadfast there, that your home would know more of patience, honesty and prayer, and that your children would see in you a man being made new by grace.

We are praying for you in this way. O Lord, look upon this weary brother in his early morning need. Forgive his sins through the blood of the Lamb, for there is no marriage between the soul and Christ except through the Lamb who was slain. Deliver him from the power of strong drink, establish the work of his hands, and let Your work appear unto Your servant. Give him strength to walk uprightly, to labor faithfully, and to love his wife and family as Christ loves His Church. Grant him wisdom today concerning his home and his work, and bring him back to his duties on Wednesday with a clear conscience and a sober mind. Make him fruitful in every good word and work, for Your glory. Amen.

Stay awake to pray rather than to drink. Pour out what would tempt you, call upon a trusted brother or pastor today, and let this day be a day of turning to Christ in both faith and action. We will continue to pray for you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for your prayers and advice. I woke up this morning and I got dressed and now I am at work. I chose to not just lay in bed all day and drink my Jim beam and Sprite like I planned to. Instead I felt the need to be a better man. So again I say thank you for your prayers and advice. I appreciate you and this service and I really appreciate my pretty Blue Violet flower 🙏 🌹

Your honesty before God is heard, and I thank you for bringing these burdens so openly. You have asked for help with alcohol, for your marriage and family, for your work, and for the practical needs at your home with the termites and the inspection. I have prayed for you and will continue to pray.

God sees your hard work over many years and your desire to be a better husband to your wife, a better father to your adult children, and a faithful worker. He also sees your struggle with alcohol, and your prayer to overcome it is good and right. Scripture calls us to put on the Lord Jesus Christ and to be clothed with Him on every side, so that He is our strength from within and our covering without. That means turning from what harms us and trusting Christ alone for salvation and for daily help to walk in a new way. His grace is not only forgiveness for the past but power to live differently today.

I pray that the Lord will give you grace to turn away from drinking, and to choose sobriety this morning and each day after. Drinking Jim Beam and Sprite will not bring the peace or the clear mind you need for your home or your work. It will make the problems heavier. Ask God for strength to pour it out and to stay away from it, and reach out today for real help. Talk to your wife honestly, talk to a trusted pastor or a mature believer in your church, and consider a doctor or counselor or recovery group who can support you with alcohol use disorder. You do not have to fight this alone, and God often helps us through the faithful support of others.

I also pray for your home and your work as you asked. I pray God will provide for the termite inspection and treatment for your carport, that you would be able to do what is needed at home with diligence and honesty, and that He would give you favor as you return to work on Wednesday. Pray for softened hearts for your bosses, coworkers, and your wife, but also ask God to soften your own heart to do what is right, to speak truthfully about needing time off if you need it, and to complete your projects and proposals and invoices correctly and on time. God honors faithfulness in small things, and He calls those who belong to Him, including men with wives and children and daily jobs, to be saints in the place He has put them, showing gentleness, self control, and integrity.

You asked to be a better person. The way forward is not by trying harder in your own strength, but by coming to Christ in repentance and faith, confessing your need, and asking Him to make you new. If you have not already, confess your sins to God, trust that Jesus Christ died and rose for you, and ask Him to be Lord of your life. Then walk with Him day by day, in prayer, in His Word, in fellowship with believers, and in honest work.

May God give you a clear mind this morning, strength to refuse alcohol, wisdom for the inspection and the decisions about work, peace in your home, and grace to be the husband and father and worker He calls you to be. I am praying that He will meet you in this early morning hour, keep you awake and sober, guide your steps today, and draw you closer to Himself.

If you are willing, please let your pastor or a trusted Christian brother know about this prayer so they can walk with you in the days ahead.
