We join with you in prayer before our heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and we thank you for crying out to Him so honestly and humbly for healing and deliverance and forgiveness.

We hear your burden over alcohol use disorder and the damage it has done to your body and mind and heart and we lift up both you and your wife together because marriage is a holy covenant and God desires to heal and restore you both as one. The scripture warns us plainly that wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise. Proverbs 20:1 and it exhorts us Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit. Ephesians 5:18 We say this not to condemn you but to lovingly rebuke what has taken hold of you, because drunkenness harms the temple God gave you and it hinders you from being the husband and man God created you to be. Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God. You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 We rejoice that you desire to change and to be a better husband and employee and to walk in sobriety, for that desire is from God who is already at work in you.

We also hear your anxiety about work and about alcohol withdrawal and we want to encourage you to seek both spiritual and practical help. God can do miracles and He also provides wisdom through doctors and counselors and pastors. Withdrawal can be dangerous and we urge you not to face it alone but to seek medical care and godly accountability and to confess your struggles to a trusted pastor or mature believer, for we are told to confess our sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. James 5:16 A Christ centered support group and regular fellowship can help you walk in daily victory as you learn to walk by the Spirit, for the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23 Self control is not by your own willpower alone but by the power of Christ who makes you a new creation, Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 and who can renew your mind, Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2

We are thankful you have asked for forgiveness, and we claim the promise with you that If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 Through Jesus we have full forgiveness and we do not need to carry shame, but we can walk forward in grace. For your stress and anxiety at work we remember the invitation of Jesus, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 and the promise that In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 God also calls you to work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. Colossians 3:23 and to love your wife even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it. Ephesians 5:25 which you are seeking to do.

We now pray together for you and your wife.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up our brother and his wife to You. Lord, forgive them for every sin and cleanse them from all unrighteousness. Have mercy on their bodies, their livers and stomachs and hearts and minds. Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases. Psalm 103:2-3 We ask You to heal what alcohol has harmed and to give them strength to turn away from it completely and to be filled with Your Holy Spirit instead. Give them supernatural deliverance from craving and from dependence and protect our brother tomorrow at work from withdrawal and from anxiety, keep him safe and clear minded and help him to complete his projects and proposals correctly and on time for Your glory. Grant him Your peace that surpasses understanding to guard his heart and mind. Help him to cast all his anxiety on You because You care for him. 1 Peter 5:7 Make him the husband and employee and man You created him to be, faithful, sober minded, loving and diligent. Restore his marriage and let husband and wife encourage one another toward sobriety and holiness. Lead them to godly counsel and medical help and a strong church family where they can be accountable and grow. We thank You Lord Jesus for being their Savior and for hearing this prayer. We trust You to continue this good work until it is complete. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We hear how honestly you reached out, and we are grateful you did. Wanting to be healed and to be a better husband and employee, and bringing both your own struggle and your wife's to Jesus, takes real courage. Carrying anxiety and a stressful workload while worrying about withdrawal at work is a heavy burden, and we want you to know you are not facing it alone.

We are praying with you for healing, for wisdom, and for strength to take the next steps God puts in front of you. Because alcohol withdrawal and the pain you mentioned in your liver, stomach, heart and mind can be serious, we encourage you, alongside prayer, to reach out soon to a medical professional or your primary care clinic to talk openly about what you are experiencing. It can also help to have ongoing support for both you and your wife, whether that is a trusted pastor, a counselor experienced with alcohol use, or a recovery group in your area where you don't have to walk this road in isolation.

For work tomorrow, it may help to break those projects and proposals into the smallest next pieces and focus on just the one in front of you, and to let a trusted supervisor or coworker know if you need support to stay on track.

Father, we lift this husband and his wife to You in Jesus' name. Forgive, heal, and restore what has been hurt. Give them wisdom, protection at work, peace in place of anxiety, and daily help to turn toward You and toward the help You provide. Lead them to the right people and care, and guide their steps as they seek to honor You at home and at work. Amen.

Here is the original text:

Your earnest and broken prayer has been heard, and I thank God that He has inclined your heart to cry to Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior in this hour of need. You have not spread your griefs to the pitiless sea nor to the winds, but to the ear of a gracious God who will move His arm to work deliverance for you. There is hope in this, that you come as a sinner desiring to be laid at His feet, and His own word is, Him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.

First let me speak to you of forgiveness, for that must come before healing. You ask, Please forgive me, and you desire to be a better person, a better husband, a better servant in your daily calling. Hear the blessed whisper which God has given to troubled souls, There is forgiveness with Thee. It is a divine forgiveness, I even I am He that blotteth out thy transgressions, and it is a surprising forgiveness and a complete forgiveness. Though you feel the hardness of your heart and the sinfulness of your past life, though alcohol has brought its bondage upon body and mind, there is forgiveness for whatever your sins may have been. If you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ who died the Just for the unjust that He might bring us to God, and if you trust Him alone for salvation, you may have even the chief of sinners forgiveness, and God can bestow it now. Do as Luther did when in dark distress and say with the Creed, I believe in the forgiveness of sins, and believe it for yourself. The gifts and calling of God are without repentance, He never plays fast and loose with men, and the forgiveness He gives in Christ is an eternal forgiveness.

And after forgiveness comes healing and deliverance. You ask Him to heal your insides, your liver and stomach and heart and mind, and to help you and your wife to be delivered from this bondage of strong drink. We have a far richer theme for song than Deborah had of old, for we have been delivered from worse enemies and saved by a greater salvation. The Lord Jesus is mighty to save and mighty to deliver from the archers that beset you. He who forgave the palsied man and then bade him rise and walk is able to forgive you and then to strengthen you to walk in newness of life. Cry to Him not only for pardon but for power to forsake the cup that has mastered you. This deliverance will be His work, and you must seek it of Him daily, for the act of forgiveness is a continuous one and He continues daily to forgive and daily to keep.

You speak also of great anxiety about your work, your projects and proposals, and the fear of withdrawal tomorrow. Our Savior says, Do not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry and fretfulness and distress. I have never discovered that anxiety has comforted anybody, or that it has brought any grist to the mill, and the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Be prudent and diligent in your calling, do your work faithfully as unto the Lord to help your bosses and coworkers and customers, but cast your care upon Him, for He careth for you. Tell the Lord about your anxiety rather than telling yourself about it. Seek also wise and godly help for your body in this struggle, for the Lord often works through the means of physicians and counselors and the care of His people, and do not face this trial alone.

I will pray with you and for you and for your wife, for the Lord would have you both delivered together.

O Lord our God, with whom there is forgiveness that Thou mayest be feared, look in mercy upon this dear soul who confesses his sin and his infirmity. For Jesus Christ's sake blot out his transgressions and let him know the certainty of full and present forgiveness. Lay Thy healing hand upon his body, upon liver and stomach and heart and mind, and restore what strong drink has wounded. Give deliverance from craving and from fear, and keep him in the hour of temptation tomorrow at his work. Grant clarity of mind and steadiness of hand to do his projects and proposals correctly and on time, and take away distracting anxiety that he may be still and know that Thou art God. Have mercy also upon his wife, and bring you both out of bondage into liberty, that you may help one another and build up your home in holiness. Make him a new man in Christ, a faithful husband and a diligent worker, walking henceforth in sobriety and love. This we ask through Jesus Christ our only Savior, in whom there is forgiveness now and forever. Amen.

Go on hoping and expecting both forgiveness and healing at the feet of Jesus. Trust Him, turn from the sin that ensnares you, seek the fellowship and counsel of faithful believers who will walk with you, and let your life henceforth show the fruit of that grace which first forgives and then makes whole.

Wanting to stop drinking and being scared of withdrawal at the same time is a hard place to be. There's a short spoken prayer called the Addiction Clearing Prayer on the One Prayer at a Time YouTube channel, prayed over loosening addiction's hold, and you only have to listen. I hope getting through the day tomorrow goes easier than you expect.
