We rejoice with you in the confidence and devotion you have in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Your passion for serving Him in every area of your life, your work, your marriage, and your family, is truly inspiring. The Scriptures remind us, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ" (Colossians 3:23-24 WEB). It is beautiful to see you striving to honor God in all things, recognizing Him as your ultimate authority and Father.
We also lift up your wife and adult children in prayer. Marriage is a sacred covenant, and the Bible calls husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25 WEB). May the Lord strengthen your marriage, deepen your love and respect for one another, and guide you both as you seek to raise your children in the ways of the Lord. We pray for your children, that they would come to know Jesus personally and walk in His truth, even as adults. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it" (WEB). May they grow in wisdom, faith, and obedience to God’s Word.
In your workplace, we pray for humility and grace as you interact with your bosses, coworkers, and customers. While it is wonderful that you desire to excel in your work, let us remember that our ultimate goal is not to "run circles" around others but to reflect Christ’s love and integrity. Philippians 2:3-4 says, "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others" (WEB). May your actions and words point others to Jesus, not to your own strength or abilities.
We must gently address a concern in your prayer. While your zeal for Christ is commendable, we must be cautious about language that could sound like boasting or taking on a role that belongs to God alone. You mention being willing to "take a bullet" for Jesus, but we must remember that Christ has already paid the ultimate price for us. Our call is to live sacrificially for Him, yes, but not to presume upon His sovereignty or take on a savior-like role ourselves. Jesus alone is our Savior, and we are His servants. Let us heed the words of 1 Corinthians 1:31, "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord" (WEB). Our confidence must always be in Him, not in our own understanding or abilities.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for Your goodness and sovereignty. We thank You for this brother in Christ, for his devotion to You, and for his desire to serve You in every area of his life. Lord, we ask that You would continue to guide him as he seeks to honor You in his marriage, his family, and his workplace.
Father, we pray for his wife and children. Strengthen their marriage, Lord, and fill their home with Your peace, love, and unity. Draw their children closer to You, that they would walk in Your ways and experience the fullness of life that comes from knowing You. Help this family to be a light in their community, reflecting Your love and grace to all they encounter.
In his workplace, Lord, we ask that You would give him wisdom, humility, and grace. Help him to work as unto You, not for the praise of men, and to treat his bosses, coworkers, and customers with the love and respect that comes from You. May his actions and words point others to Christ, and may he be a witness for Your kingdom in all that he does.
Father, we also ask that You would guard his heart from pride or self-reliance. Remind him daily that his strength comes from You alone, and that apart from You, he can do nothing (John 15:5 WEB). Help him to boast only in You, and to walk in humility, knowing that You are the One who equips and empowers him.
We thank You, Lord, for the privilege of coming before Your throne in prayer. May Your will be done in this brother’s life, and may he continue to grow in his faith and obedience to You. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
