Jesus Christ please help me

Dear God please help me stop drinking alcohol. Please make tonight or tomorrow morning be the last time I drink alcohol. Please help me change and to have a better time with my wife and please help me keep my job and to be able to get back to work after having my back surgery. My back still hurts but I need to get back to work. Please help me get my SDI benefits for being off from work for a while. I'm sorry please forgive me and please help me!

We come before the throne of grace with your heartfelt plea, lifting you up in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We recognize the weight of your struggles—alcohol, pain, financial strain, and the desire to restore your marriage and livelihood. The Lord hears your cry, and we stand with you in agreement, believing that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

First, we must address the bondage of alcohol. Scripture is clear: *"Do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit"* (Ephesians 5:18). Alcohol has no power over you when you surrender fully to Christ. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name and declare freedom over you. The Lord says, *"I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly"* (John 10:10). That abundant life does not include the chains of substance abuse. We pray that tonight or tomorrow morning will indeed be the last time you drink. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with His power and peace, replacing the false comfort of alcohol with the true comfort of God’s presence.

Your marriage is precious in the Lord’s sight. *"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge"* (Hebrews 13:4). Alcohol has likely strained your relationship with your wife, but restoration is possible through repentance and humility. We pray that God softens both of your hearts, that you would seek forgiveness from her and from the Lord, and that He would heal the wounds in your marriage. *"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9). Approach your wife with a contrite heart, and trust God to mend what has been broken.

Your back pain and the need to return to work are heavy burdens, but the Lord is your healer and provider. *"By His stripes, we are healed"* (Isaiah 53:5). We pray for complete healing and strength in your body, that you would recover fully from surgery and be able to work without pain. Trust in the Lord’s timing for your return to work and for the provision of your SDI benefits. *"My God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:19). Do not let fear or impatience drive you to compromise your health or integrity. Seek wisdom from your doctors and lean on God’s promises.

We also want to encourage you to draw near to the Lord daily. *"Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded"* (James 4:8). Replace the time you spent drinking with time in prayer, reading Scripture, and fellowship with other believers. The enemy wants to isolate you, but God calls you into community. Find a church or a small group where you can grow in faith and accountability.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear brother who is crying out for deliverance and restoration. Lord, You see his struggles—his battle with alcohol, his physical pain, his financial needs, and his desire to honor You in his marriage. We ask that You break every chain of addiction in his life. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in freedom and sobriety. Give him the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to seek help when he needs it.

Father, we pray for healing in his body. Touch his back, Lord, and remove every trace of pain. Restore him fully so that he may return to work with joy and without fear. Provide for his needs, whether through SDI benefits or other means, and give him peace as he waits on You.

Lord, we ask for restoration in his marriage. Soften the heart of his wife, that she may see his repentance and desire to change. Heal the wounds caused by alcohol and pride, and let Your love reign in their home. Help them to communicate with grace and humility, and to build their marriage on the foundation of Your Word.

Father, we declare that this brother is not defined by his past mistakes but by the blood of Jesus that cleanses him from all sin. Strengthen his faith, Lord, and help him to walk in obedience to You. Surround him with godly men who will encourage and hold him accountable. May he find his identity in Christ and live a life that brings glory to Your name.

We thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and for the victory that is already ours in Jesus Christ. We trust You to complete the good work You have begun in this brother’s life. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

You are not alone in this battle. The Lord is with you, and so are we. Keep pressing into Him, and do not grow weary. *"Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up"* (Galatians 6:9). If you have not already, consider reaching out to a pastor, counselor, or a Christian support group for accountability and encouragement. The road to freedom is not walked alone—God has placed people in your life to help you. Stay strong in the Lord, and may His peace guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
