Jesus Christ please help me

Fuatar

Disciple of Prayer
Dear God please help me have a safe back surgery done this week. Please don't let me die. I do want to live and I need help with my alcohol use disorder. I need to get back to work and I have been off work for the past ### weeks laying on my bed drinking alcohol and smoking pot. Please help me change and please don't let me die during my back surgery.

We come before the throne of grace with you in this time of deep need, lifting your fears, struggles, and upcoming surgery to our Heavenly Father, who is the Great Physician and the God of all comfort. Your cry for help has reached His ears, and we stand with you in faith, knowing that He is able to deliver you from every trial—both physically and spiritually.

First, we rejoice that you have called upon the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. As Scripture declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). Your acknowledgment of Jesus in your plea is a testament to the faith within you, and we pray that this faith will grow stronger as you walk through this season.

Your fear of death during surgery is understandable, but we remind you of the words of our Lord: *"Don’t be afraid, only believe"* (Mark 5:36, WEB). God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray that the Lord will fill you with His peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). May the surgeons and medical staff attending to you be guided by the wisdom of God, and may every hand that touches you be steady and skilled. *"I will never leave you or forsake you,"* the Lord has promised (Hebrews 13:5, WEB), and we claim that promise over your life as you go into this surgery. You are not alone—He is with you, and we are standing with you in prayer.

Now, we must also address the struggles you’ve shared with honesty and love. Your admission of alcohol and marijuana use is a cry for freedom, and we want you to know that freedom is possible through Christ. The Bible warns us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and we are called to honor God with our bodies. Substance abuse is a form of bondage, but Jesus came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18). You do not have to remain in this cycle. The Lord is offering you a way out, and we urge you to take hold of it with both hands.

Repentance is the first step. Turn away from these substances and turn toward God, who is ready to forgive and restore you. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9, WEB). We pray that the Lord will break the chains of addiction in your life and fill you with a hunger for His Word and His presence instead. Seek accountability—whether through a trusted brother or sister in Christ, a pastor, or a biblical recovery program. You were not meant to walk this path alone.

We also encourage you to use this time of recovery to draw near to God. You’ve mentioned being off work and lying in bed—this can be a season of renewal if you surrender it to Him. Replace the time spent drinking or smoking with prayer, worship, and reading Scripture. *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest,"* Jesus says (Matthew 11:28, WEB). He is your rest, your healer, and your strength.

As for returning to work, we pray that the Lord will open the right doors at the right time. Trust in His provision, for He knows your needs before you even ask (Matthew 6:8). Do not rush ahead of His timing, but seek His will in all things. If you have not already, consider sharing your struggles with your employer or a trusted colleague who can support you in this season. Honesty and humility often pave the way for God’s grace to move in unexpected ways.

Finally, we want to leave you with this promise: *"Being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ"* (Philippians 1:6, WEB). The Lord is not done with you. He has a purpose for your life, and this trial is not the end of your story—it is a chapter in which He is refining you, drawing you closer to Himself, and preparing you for what lies ahead.

**Our Prayer for You:**

Heavenly Father, we come before You today on behalf of Your child, who is facing surgery and the deep struggles of addiction. Lord, we ask that You would be their strength and their shield. Guide the hands of the surgeons and medical staff, granting them wisdom, precision, and clarity. Protect every organ, every nerve, and every part of their body as they undergo this procedure. Let no harm come to them, for You are the God who heals and restores.

Father, we rebuked the spirit of fear in the name of Jesus. Replace it with Your perfect peace, which guards hearts and minds in Christ. Let them feel Your presence in that operating room, knowing that You are with them every step of the way.

Lord, we also lift up their battle with alcohol and marijuana. These substances have no place in the life of Your child, and we ask that You would break their power and set them free. Convict them deeply of the need to turn away from these sins and run toward You. Fill the void in their heart with more of You—Your love, Your joy, and Your purpose. Surround them with godly support and accountability so they do not walk this path alone.

Father, we pray for their return to work in Your perfect timing. Provide for their every need, and let this season of recovery be a season of spiritual renewal. Draw them closer to You through Your Word and through prayer. Give them a hunger for righteousness that outweighs any craving for the things of this world.

Most of all, Lord, we pray that they would know You more. Reveal Yourself to them in ways they’ve never experienced before. Let this trial be a testimony of Your faithfulness, and let their life bring glory to Your name.

We ask all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We're here for you, dear friend. We've been praying for you, asking our Heavenly Father to wrap you in His loving arms during this challenging time. We know you're scared, but remember, Jesus is right there with you, just as He promised, "I am with you always, to the very end of the age" (Matthew 28:20, NIV).

We're claiming God's promise of peace over you right now. "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid" (John 14:27, NIV). Breathe that in, feel it filling your heart and mind.

We're also praying for strength and courage as you face your addiction. We know it's a battle, but remember, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9, NIV). You don't have to fight this alone. Lean on Jesus, and let Him fill you with His power.

We're asking God to guide your doctors and nurses, to give them wisdom and skill as they care for you. We're believing for a successful surgery and a quick, healthy recovery.

And we're praying for open doors and the right timing as you return to work. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5, NIV). He's got this, friend. He's got you.

You're not alone. We're standing with you, praying for you, believing with you. Keep fighting, keep trusting, and keep holding on to Jesus. He's got this. He's got you.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
