Disciple of Prayer
Dear Jesus Christ please help me. Please soften the hearts of my bosses and my customers and my coworkers and my family to be nice to me because my back and legs hurt so much. I'm sorry God that I need to have back surgery. It hurts to stand and to walk. Please help me keep my job. I need help with my projects and my proposals. Please let my customers have mercy on me please help me change. I'm going back to drinking alcohol and smoking pot as an excuse to handle my back pain. Please help me be a better man and a better husband and a better father and a better employee. Please help me help my employer. I really don't want to lose my job and I don't want to be an alcoholic again. Amen

We lift you up before the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, and we thank Him that you have called upon His name in your time of need. It is only through Jesus that we can approach the throne of grace with confidence, for He is our Mediator and our Hope. You have done well to cry out to Him, for the Scriptures say, *"Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need"* (Hebrews 4:16, WEB). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, and it is in His name that we bring your burdens before God.

We grieve with you over the pain you are enduring, both physically and emotionally. Chronic pain can wear down even the strongest of spirits, and the fear of losing your job only adds to the weight you carry. But take heart, for the Lord sees your suffering and He is not distant from it. The psalmist reminds us, *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit"* (Psalm 34:18, WEB). He is with you in this valley, and He will carry you through it if you lean on Him.

Yet we must also address the dangers you have confessed—turning to alcohol and marijuana to numb the pain. These are not the answers God has for you. The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we are called to honor God with it (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, WEB). Substances that cloud the mind and harm the body only deepen the strongholds of sin and prevent you from experiencing the fullness of God’s peace and healing. The Apostle Peter warns, *"Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour"* (1 Peter 5:8, WEB). When we turn to anything other than God to cope, we open the door to the enemy’s schemes. Instead, the Lord invites you to cast all your anxieties on Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7, WEB).

We urge you to repent of these things and turn fully to the Lord for your strength. He is your Healer, your Provider, and your Comforter. The prophet Isaiah declares, *"But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed"* (Isaiah 53:5, WEB). Jesus bore your pain and your sins on the cross so that you might walk in freedom and wholeness. Will you trust Him to be your sufficiency, even now?

As for your job, we pray that the Lord would grant you favor with your bosses, coworkers, and customers. We ask that He would soften their hearts toward you and give you wisdom and strength to complete your projects and proposals with excellence. Remember the words of Colossians 3:23-24 (WEB): *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."* Even in your pain, your work is an act of worship when done unto Him. He sees your diligence, and He will sustain you.

We also pray for your role as a husband and father. These are sacred callings, and the enemy would love nothing more than to see you discouraged and ineffective in them. But God has equipped you to lead your family with love, patience, and strength. Ephesians 5:25 (WEB) charges husbands to *"love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it."* And fathers are called to *"don’t provoke your children to anger, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord"* (Ephesians 6:4, WEB). You are not alone in this—God will give you the grace to fulfill these roles if you rely on Him.

Finally, we pray for your upcoming surgery. We ask the Great Physician to guide the hands of your doctors, to bring healing to your back and legs, and to restore your body to full strength. We declare Jeremiah 30:17 (WEB) over you: *"For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says the Lord."* May His healing power flow through you, and may this season of pain be a testimony of His faithfulness.

**Let us pray together:**

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who is weary and in pain. Lord, You see the suffering of Your child—both the physical agony in his back and legs and the emotional weight of fear, stress, and temptation. We ask that You would be his Strength and his Song, his Healer and his Provider.

Father, we pray for supernatural healing over his body. Touch his spine, his nerves, his muscles, and every part that is causing him pain. Prepare him for his surgery, Lord, and let it be successful beyond what the doctors can imagine. Give him peace as he waits, knowing that You are in control.

We rebuked the spirit of addiction that seeks to drag him back into bondage. Lord, break the chains of alcohol and marijuana in his life. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit so that he may walk in self-control and sobriety. Remind him that his body is Your temple, and give him the courage to honor You in all things.

We ask for Your favor over his work, Lord. Soften the hearts of his bosses, coworkers, and customers toward him. Grant him wisdom, creativity, and endurance to complete his projects and proposals with excellence. Protect his job, Father, and open doors of opportunity for him to thrive. Let his work be a testimony of Your goodness.

Strengthen him as a husband and father, Lord. Help him to love his wife as Christ loves the Church and to lead his children with patience and godly instruction. Restore joy and unity in his home, and let his family be a refuge of Your peace.

Most of all, Father, draw him closer to You. Let this season of struggle drive him to his knees, where he may find Your grace sufficient and Your power perfected in his weakness. Remind him that You are his Shepherd, and he shall not want (Psalm 23:1, WEB).

We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your faithfulness, and we declare that You are working all things together for his good (Romans 8:28, WEB). In the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
