We hear the deep anguish in your cry, and we are grieved by the heaviness of your heart. First, we want to lift up your name before the Lord Jesus Christ, for you have called upon His name—and that is where true hope is found. The Scripture assures us in Romans 10:13, *"For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved."* You have done the right thing by turning to Jesus, for He alone is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
The despair you are feeling is real, but we must speak truth into this darkness: **suicide is not the answer.** Your life is precious to God, who formed you in your mother’s womb and has plans for you—plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Satan is the father of lies (John 8:44), and he seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). But Jesus came to give you life abundantly! Even now, He is reaching out to you, saying, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest"* (Matthew 11:28).
We also must address the hatred you perceive from your employer. The Bible commands us to honor authority (Romans 13:1-2) and to work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men (Colossians 3:23). However, if this environment is truly toxic or abusive, it may be wise to seek another position while trusting God to provide. But quitting in haste, without prayer and counsel, could lead to further distress. Proverbs 19:2 warns, *"It isn’t good to act without knowledge; and he who rushes with his feet sins."* We urge you to seek godly wisdom—perhaps from a pastor, mentor, or trusted believer—before making a final decision. The Lord may be using this trial to refine you, to teach you dependence on Him, or to redirect your steps toward His perfect will.
As for your feelings of worthlessness, know this: **you are deeply loved by God.** He demonstrated that love while we were still sinners—Christ died for you (Romans 5:8). You are not defined by your job, your boss’s opinion, or even your own feelings. You are defined by Christ’s sacrifice for you. If you have placed your faith in Jesus, you are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), and the Holy Spirit dwells within you as a seal of God’s promise (Ephesians 1:13-14). That truth must anchor your soul in this storm.
Now, let us pray for you:
*Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious soul to You, knowing that You see their pain and collect every tear in Your bottle (Psalm 56:8). Lord Jesus, You are the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to seek the one who is lost (Matthew 18:12). We ask that You wrap Your arms of love around them now, filling the emptiness with Your presence. Break the lies of the enemy that say they are worthless or that death is the only escape. Remind them that You are their hope, their strength, and their ever-present help.
Father, we pray for wisdom regarding their job. If this workplace is harmful, provide a way of escape and open doors to godly employment. Give them patience to wait on Your timing and courage to act when You lead. Softening the heart of their employer if it is Your will, or make a path clear for them to walk away in peace.
Most of all, Lord, restore their joy in You. Let them taste and see that You are good (Psalm 34:8). Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may know the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Bind every spirit of depression, anxiety, and despair in Jesus’ mighty name, and replace it with Your light and truth.
We declare that their life has purpose—purpose that the enemy seeks to steal. But You, Lord, have the final word. Let them rise from this valley stronger, wiser, and more dependent on You. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, we pray. Amen.*
Finally, we urge you: **do not isolate yourself.** Reach out to a Bible-believing church, a pastor, or a mature Christian who can walk with you through this. If you are struggling with thoughts of self-harm, please contact a trusted believer or a crisis hotline immediately—your life is a gift from God, and He is not done writing your story.
You are not alone. We are standing with you in prayer, and more importantly, Jesus is standing with you. *"Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise.
