Dear God thank you for helping me and my wife to be nice to each other and to respect each other and to have a kind soft heart for each other. Thank you for helping me be a better husband and a better person and a better dad and a better employee. Thank you for healing my body and my mind and my spirit through my ### and my ###. Please forgive me for being a alcoholic and please continue to help me change. Please help my hands to stop shaking so much and please help me have confidence and courage and belief that it's going to be okay . Thank you Jesus Christ my lord and Savior. Amen

We rejoice with you in the progress you and your wife have made in treating one another with kindness, respect, and soft hearts. The Lord is faithful to restore what has been broken when we humble ourselves before Him. Your desire to be a better husband, father, employee, and man of God is evidence of His work in your life. We stand with you in gratitude for the healing He has already brought to your body, mind, and spirit, and we continue to lift you up in these areas.

The battle against alcoholism is not an easy one, but we serve a God who is greater than any addiction. Scripture tells us, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). We rebuke the spirit of addiction in your life in the name of Jesus Christ. You are not defined by this struggle, but by the One who has set you free. The shaking in your hands is a physical reminder of this battle, but we declare healing and steadiness over you. The Lord says, "I will restore you to health and heal your wounds" (Jeremiah 30:17). We pray that as your body heals, your confidence and courage will grow, knowing that God is with you every step of the way.

We also want to encourage you to seek godly accountability and support. Proverbs 27:17 says, "Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance." Surround yourself with believers who can walk alongside you, pray with you, and hold you accountable as you continue to fight this battle. Celebrate Recovery or a similar biblically-based recovery program can be a tremendous help in your journey.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts for the work You are doing in this brother’s life. We thank You for the restoration You have brought to his marriage, his family, and his spirit. Lord, we ask that You continue to heal his body, mind, and soul from the effects of alcoholism. Strengthen him in moments of weakness and fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. We declare that his hands will be steady, his heart will be confident, and his mind will be clear as he places his trust in You. Father, surround him with godly men who will encourage him, pray for him, and hold him accountable. Remind him daily that he is not alone in this fight, for You are with him, and Your strength is made perfect in his weakness. We rebuke the enemy’s lies that tell him he is not enough or that he cannot overcome this struggle. Instead, we speak Your truth over him: that he is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus. Lord, continue to mold him into the husband, father, and man of God You have called him to be. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

How good it is that the Lord has quickened this spark of gratitude within your heart! You see tokens of His mercy in your marriage, in your daily duties, and in the healing of your body and mind, this is the very goodness that is intended to lead you to repentance. Never forget that the glory of God lies in this goodness, and where He bestows such tenderness, He is calling you closer to Himself. Your acknowledgment of the sin that has held you captive is no light thing; it is the hand of the Lord pressing you down in a sense of your own weakness, that He might lift you up by the right hand of His power.

You tremble, and your hands shake, and you long for confidence, these are no barriers to grace, but opportunities for faith. Hear what the Spirit says: “What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee.” Your fear and your faith may walk hand in hand for a season, but each trembling gasp of trust overcomes the heart of Christ. He knows your frame; He remembers that you are dust. Trust Him simply now, without waiting for a sign or a feeling. To cast yourself upon Him in the dark is the very essence of saving belief.

The pathway before you is not one of merit but of mercy. His goodness goes before you, providing both the desire to be free and the strength to take the next step. Continue in private prayer, as Daniel did, with your window open toward the mercy seat, and the Lord who was with you in the afternoon of better days will be with you in the evening of this struggle. His right hand is exalted; it does valiantly. He will smooth the trembling from your hands and plant courage in your spirit in His own time. Only believe that you shall see His goodness here in the land of the living, and let that confidence carry you forward, for the dearer Christ becomes to you, the more repulsive your sin will appear, and the sweeter will be the victory He works in you. What gratitude you show, giving thanks to God for the help already poured out upon your household! To see a husband and wife dwelling in kindness and softness of heart is no small gift; it is a foretaste of the peace that surpasses understanding. Yet, do not let this very thankfulness make you remiss. For the enemy waits to see if you will grow slack, so that he might snatch away what has been started. Continue, then, to be watchful. God is more willing to give His grace directly to you, as you strive to do away with His wrath, than to others on your behalf. For He saved the harlot and the thief when no human mediator stood between.

You confess the sin of drunkenness, and you ask forgiveness. You do well: the mercies of God are new every morning, and He who commanded us to forgive seventy times seven will never spurn a broken and contrite heart. But listen: the grace of forgiveness is meant to lead you into a changed life. Do not merely seek the pardon for yesterday’s excess, but seek the healing of its root. That trembling in your hands is a voice from the body, crying out against the tyranny under which it has labored. Do not lose courage because the mending takes time. When the Apostle Paul was bound with chains, he made his very bonds a source of boldness for others. If he could be confident in his affliction, how much more can you, when you see the first fruits of deliverance?

You pray for confidence and courage and the belief that it will be okay. Such boldness is not born of our own strength. It comes when we, in meekness like Christ’s, lay hold of the hope set before us. He tasted death for every man, not needing it Himself, but to persuade you against all fear. Let this mind be in you: the same Lord who began a good work in your body and mind and spirit is faithful to complete it. Only, I beseech you, follow peace with all, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. That soft heart you now share with your wife, guard it as a holy thing. Marriage is honorable; it preserves purity by keeping you from defilement. Thus you owe her not only kindness but the very example of a man fighting fiercely against his passions. For if one member stumbles, there is hope the other may reclaim him. Stand fast, therefore, in this newness of life.

Do not be content with a single resolution. The Apostle required even of widows that they be diligent in every good work, continuing steadfastly in prayer. Set aside hours for that leisure which serves God, not idleness, but the sacred employment of lifting up your hands, though they tremble, in thanksgiving and supplication. For they will grow steadier, not by your willing alone, but by the influence that comes from above. The Lord, whose fan is in His hand, purges the floor not to destroy but to purify. Trust His timing. And go to your daily labor not as a drudge, but as one who serves Christ the Lord. Be a better employee by being a faithful steward, for you are not working for men but for the Master who sees in secret.

Finally, let your prayers be bold, not doubting. For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities. And as you open your mouth in humble confidence, He will fill it. Go in peace; stand firm in the grace that has already laid hold of you.
