Jeremiah 17:7

We are so encouraged that you shared Jeremiah 17:7 with us, for it is a precious promise and we join with you in holding fast to it together in Jesus' name.

Blessed is the man who trusts in Yahweh, whose confidence is in Yahweh. Jeremiah 17:7. This verse stands in beautiful contrast to what comes just before it, where we are warned that cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from Yahweh. Jeremiah 17:5. The Lord is showing us there are only two places to put our confidence, in man and in this world which will fail, or in Him who never fails. When our trust is in the Lord, we are blessed not because our circumstances are always easy, but because our roots go deep to the living water.

For he will be as a tree planted by the waters, who spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes, but its leaf will be green, and will not be concerned in the year of drought. It won’t cease from yielding fruit. Jeremiah 17:8. This reminds us of Psalm 1:3 and it pictures the steady, fruitful life that comes from abiding in Him. We are called to trust in Yahweh with all our heart, and not lean on our own understanding. In all our ways acknowledge him, and he will make our paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. When our confidence is in Him, He keeps us in perfect peace, for our mind is stayed on Him, because we trust in Him. Isaiah 26:3.

We notice your post shares this truth but does not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you together that it is only through Jesus that we can truly trust in the Lord and come into His presence. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. To trust in the Lord with a saving trust is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, and to call upon His name. It is by His blood we have confidence to draw near to God.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we thank You for Your Word and for this promise that we are blessed when we trust in You. We ask in Jesus' name that You would help our dear friend and help us all to place our full confidence not in ourselves, not in people, not in riches or plans, but in You alone. Root us deep by Your living water, so that when heat comes and when seasons of drought come we will not fear but remain green and fruitful by Your grace. Teach us to acknowledge You in all our ways and to keep our minds stayed on You. We confess that we need Jesus, for without Him we have no access to You, and we thank You for sending Your Son to be our Savior. Strengthen faith where it is weak and let Your peace guard our hearts as we trust You. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our confidence, amen.

We were so encouraged to see your note centered on trusting the Lord and finding confidence in Him. Thank you for sharing what God has been putting on your heart.

We hear thankfulness in your words and we join you in it. In a season when so much can feel uncertain, that quiet choice to lean on Him is a steady anchor. That kind of trust often grows little by little as we look back and notice His care in both small moments and big ones. We love that the picture behind being blessed is being valued and honored by Him, not overlooked.

If it would be encouraging, you might take a little time this week to tell one other person how you have seen that confidence upheld in your own life, even in a simple conversation or note. Speaking it out can strengthen both you and the one who hears it.

We are grateful for you and we are praying for you as you keep walking in that trust.

Father, thank You for being worthy of our confidence. We thank You for our friend and for the trust they have placed in You. Keep drawing them close, guard their heart with Your peace, and help them sense Your nearness in the days ahead. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

Blessed is indeed the one who trusts in the Lord, and that blessedness is not a mere sentiment but a living reality wrought by faith in Jesus Christ.

The prophet declares that the confidence of such a soul is in the Lord Himself, not in his own strength, nor in his own works, nor in any other hope. Faith is the eye which sees, and without that eye we are blind to the things of God. Without faith it is impossible to please God, for it is only by faith that we can recognize Him, approach Him, hear Him, and be delighted with His perfections. He who has no faith seeks salvation by a way that is derogatory to the Lord Jesus, but he who trusts in the Lord clings to the Cross and knows that all is safe through the blood of Christ alone. Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, and by Him also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand.

This trust is not a fleeting feeling but a whole hearted confidence. The Lord blesses His people with His whole heart and with His whole soul, and He would have us love and trust Him in return with our whole heart and with our whole soul. When fear arises, faith is both cure and prevention. David said, when I am afraid I will trust in You, and Isaiah learned to trust and not be afraid at all. Throw out the anchor of faith upon the faithful God who performs all things for you. If there is any true blessing, it must come from the God of heaven, and it can come from nowhere else.

May the Lord increase your faith, though it be but as a grain of mustard seed, for even little faith saves because it lays hold of a great Saviour, and great faith is to be sought that you may be strengthened, gladdened and made useful. May He teach you to cry unto God most high and to lean upon His promises, and may you be kept in the hands of Jesus until the day of Christ. And may your life be spent in blessing God who first blessed you in Christ, confessing that every good and crowning blessing is of Him alone.

We pray that the Holy Spirit will work in you a simple and firm confidence in the Lord Jesus, that you may know present peace and rejoice in hope of the glory of God, and that you may walk before Him in a faith that pleases Him and brings glory to His name.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your verse from Jeremiah 17:7 is a precious reminder that true blessedness is found not in our own strength or circumstances but in trusting the Lord and placing our confidence in Him.

Scripture teaches that to be blessed is a great gift, greater even than a reward, because it means shame is removed and we are given grace and glory before God. That blessedness comes through faith in Jesus Christ, who alone brings forgiveness of sins and makes us righteous before God. When we trust in Him, we receive pardon not because of our own works but because of His lovingkindness and grace, and that trust is then to be lived out in a faithful life and practice.

Confidence in the Lord does not mean passivity. It means casting all upon God while also walking faithfully with Him each day, persevering in the good work He has given us until the end. Faith is trusting what we do not yet see, holding fast to things hoped for because we know God is faithful to keep His promises. Those who have not seen yet have believed are called blessed, and that is the confidence you are invited to live in now.

May the Lord strengthen your trust in Him, deepen your confidence in His goodness, and help you to walk faithfully with Christ, abounding in His work and knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. May He keep you rooted like a tree planted by water, steady and fruitful as you hope in Him.
