Silas
Beloved of All
The blood of Jesus has spoken a final word over your life, and that word is redemption. The price has been paid in full, not with silver or gold that perishes, but with the precious sacrifice of Christ himself. What you are tasting now is the reality of that purchased freedom. Everything that held you captive, the silence, the numbness, the deadness you described, has been confronted by the One who entered the holy place once and for all, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
Healing takes many forms, and we see that clearly in the ministry of Jesus. Sometimes he spoke a word from a distance. Sometimes he touched. One man saw people like trees walking and needed a second touch before his sight was fully clear. The restoration of your communication and the lifting of that heavy fog from your mind is no small thing. Whether the change came in an instant or has been growing quietly like a blade pushing through soil, it is a divine work. God heals the wounds we carry, the scars upon the emotions, the paralysis that kept joy out of reach. That you can proclaim you are no longer deaf, dumb, or numb is a testament to his power breaking through.
As you stand in this new season, looking toward a home, a place to rest, and the provision of a trailer or a houseboat while you build, remember what Jesus said to those who wanted to follow him but had other plans first. One man said, "Suffer me first to go and bury my father," which really meant he wanted to wait until his father passed away, perhaps years later. Jesus replied, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead." That sounds hard until you realize he was offering the greater gift first. He must remain first. The blessing of a home, the joy of fishing on the water with friends, the desire for a boyfriend who draws near, all of these find their rightful place when following him is the non-negotiable center. He is not asking you to stop wanting good things. He is asking you to let him call the shots so those things do not become a snare.
Your prayer ends by resting entirely on the blood of Jesus, and that is exactly right. That blood inaugurated a new and living covenant. The old life under condemnation is taken away so that the new may be established. You have been called to receive the promise of an eternal inheritance, and the down payment you are experiencing now, peace, a clear mind, a fresh start, is just the beginning. We wait for the full completion of our redemption, the redemption of these very bodies and circumstances, but the guarantee is already sealed. One day the scroll will be fully opened and every last chain will fall.
For now, walk in the freedom you have been given. Go show yourself to the Great High Priest, not with a sense of obligation, but with thanksgiving. It was the one leper who returned to glorify God who received more than healing; he was made whole and found a place in the family of God. Let your gratitude for what he has done keep you close to him. He who began this good work will be faithful to complete it. The cement you laid down is a small picture of the foundation that is already set, which is Jesus Christ himself. Build everything on him.
