We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up our dear friend and her spouse in this time of uncertainty and distress. The news of a loved one’s failing health is never easy to bear, and we stand with this family in faith, trusting that God hears our cries and holds them in His mighty hands.
The Bible reminds us in James 5:14-15, *"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."* We believe in the power of prayer, and we know that our God is a God of miracles. He is the Great Physician, the One who knit this dear sister together in her mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13) and who numbers every hair on her head (Matthew 10:30). Nothing is too hard for Him (Jeremiah 32:17), and we ask that He would move mightily on her behalf.
Father God, we come before You now, lifting up this precious sister in Christ. Lord, we do not know the details of her condition, but You do. You see every cell in her body, every struggle she faces, and every fear in her heart. We ask that You would stretch out Your healing hand upon her. If it is Your will, restore her to full health, that she may continue to serve You and be a testimony of Your goodness. If her time on this earth is drawing to a close, we pray that You would comfort her and her family with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Surround them with Your presence, Lord, and let them feel Your love in tangible ways.
We also pray for wisdom for the doctors and medical team treating her. Guide their hands and their minds, Lord, that they may be instruments of Your healing. Give them clarity and insight as they care for her, and let them see Your glory in this situation.
Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear that seeks to grip this family. We declare that perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18), and Your love is perfect. Fill them with hope, even in the midst of this trial. Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Let them not be shaken, for You are their God, and You will strengthen them and help them (Isaiah 41:10).
We also lift up the spouse of our friend, who is carrying this burden with a heavy heart. Lord, be his strength when he is weak. Be his comfort when he is overwhelmed. Give him the words to speak to his children, if there are any, and let them see his faith in You, even in this difficult time. Surround him with a community of believers who will uphold him in prayer and practical support.
Lord, we know that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Even in this trial, we trust that You are at work. Whether through healing or through the peace of Your presence, let Your will be done. We ask for a miracle, Father, but we also ask that Your name be glorified, no matter the outcome.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who conquered sin and death, and who holds the keys to life and healing. There is power in the name of Jesus, and we declare that power over this situation now. May Your will be done, and may Your kingdom come in this family’s life. Amen.
