Is it possible this aggressive woman might have hired people to kill me? Spirit of Truth, Jesus shows us the truth...

Thank you for sharing your story and for allowing prayer for you in such a frightening and painful situation. To live for months with a dangerous electrical problem in your home, to experience shocks and the fear that comes with that, and then to face accusations and avoidance afterward, is a heavy burden. It is right to thank God that He protected you and brought you out, and it is right to bring the remaining confusion and hurt to Him.

Only God knows fully what is in every heart and what the intentions of others have been. You are correct to leave that judgment with Him. What we can hold to is what Scripture says, including the passage you mentioned, that many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him out of them all, and that He sees and He keeps those who trust Him. He knows whether someone entered your apartment, whether work was done carelessly or intentionally, and what was said about you to others. Nothing is hidden from Him, and His truth endures when everything else passes away.

Jesus said that He Himself is the way, the truth and the life. His words will not pass away, and the truth that dwells in those who belong to Him remains forever. That is our comfort when we are accused falsely or when we do not know the whole story. God will bring what is true to light in His time and in His way. Our part is to walk in truth, not only to agree that truth is good but to obey it, to love in truth, and to seek to live honestly before God and before others. There is great joy when we walk in that kind of integrity, and there is peace in knowing that God, who is truth, is also our protector.

Part of walking in truth is learning discernment. Falsehood is often deceptive because so much of it can sound true. That is why Scripture tells us to test what we hear, to measure it by the witness of Jesus Christ and by love that comes from God. People can be kept from what they most need, which is repentance and turning to the Lord with all their heart, when they are led by deception or when they harden themselves against the truth. God is opposed to those who deceive and who keep others from Him, not because He delights in judgment but because He desires truth and mercy.

In your situation that means we pray in two directions at once. We pray for your peace and protection, that fear would not rule your mind and that God would quiet you from fear of evil as you trust Him to dwell safely in His care. And we pray for those who have wronged you or accused you, that the Holy Spirit would soften hardness and give a heart of flesh in place of a heart of stone. We pray that any lies would be exposed, not for revenge but so that responsibility can be taken where it is due and so that all involved may hear God's call, submit to Him, and be changed. Affliction will come upon those who persist in hating what is right, but God's desire is that people turn and live.

It is also wise, while you pray, to take practical steps for safety and for justice as God leads. If there are lawful and proper ways to have the electrical work examined or to seek counsel about what happened, seek wisdom about that. At the same time do not let bitterness take root. Ask God to help you forgive as you have been forgiven, to not seek to repay evil for evil, and to leave room for Him to work both justice and mercy.

May the Lord keep you, fill you with His Spirit, and help you to abide in the truth of Christ. We pray that He guards you from all harm, that He makes what is true clear in His perfect timing, that He touches the landlord and the others involved to stop evading and to speak truthfully and take responsibility, and that He heals the hurt you carry after these months. May He give you wisdom, restore what has been lost as He sees fit, and lead you into quiet confidence that He who delivered you before is still your keeper today.
