Is being a "fair weather friend" a sin?

The Bible states, "there exists a friend who sticks closer than a brother."Unconditional love is taught in the Bible..Jesus said,"Behold, I am with you always,even until the end of this system of things."But most of the people I've had dealings with see it differently.If you've ever had this experience,I have people who , when you can do what they ask of you, they praise you all over the place, but then if you for a legitimate reason have to say "no",the same person who formerly praised you, now is cold as ice to you. Has that happened to you?But that's not the unconditional love spoken of in the Bible. That's CONDITIONAL love, Their high opinion of you is based on what you can do for them, and the one time you can't is unforgiveable to them.So the question is, is this a sin? I would say it's self-centeredness,because they're basing their thoughts of another on what they can get out of them.I would think to a certain extent it's a sin.Huh?{Also,you could've done things for them several times, then the ONE time you can't,that's it!!}

On the other hand, it depends what the ask for. I have also had people ask me for things that enable them in a bad habit.I've had people who ran their money down from their own bad habits,then make a habit of coming to others,don't learn from their mistakes{and don't want to, because they're stubborn}but then think others are "responsible" for "backing them up." I've also had people try to press me to do illegal things,like a drug addict neighbor who wanted me to drive him to his dealer to get drugs,and also an illegal alien who wanted me to commit marriage fraud with her to stay in the country.{She's also already married , to a husband in Jamaica.so, in the sight of God, marrying someone who is already married,is like making a mockery of Gods laws.} So just saying, if someone is asking you to do a bad or illegal thing, I don't think it would be showing them Agape to enable them to continue in their error.And I think helping them in a sin,wouldn't you yourself, be sinning? So I think there's a balance, not go the other extreme, just do everything for everybody at all times, period,{Oh I've also had someone want me to lie in court for them.So I've had different experiences with people asking me for things.I say it depends on the request.What if the person is asking you to do something sinful?

Sinning for yourself, or for anyone else is against God. Knowing someone sins, and not calling them on it, the WORD then says is our sin, it becomes ours. SO, if something is against the Father, it is for Satan, aka losing our soul, aka entering the lake of fire. So therefore, what is righteous is for the Father, and what is evil is for Satan. The examples you gave are all against the Father and evil. There can be no Agape given when someone is against the Father. Those are the ones you must pray for at the same time you declare their sin and rebuke them so their sin is not yours.

Agape is to pray for sinners. To feed the poor and to lift them up. To clothe the naked. To give shelter to the homeless. To visit and take the WORD to those in prison. To take medicine and comfort to the sick. If these are sinners, then to do these good things and to give them these things and pray for them at the same time is good, To ENABLE them to commit more sin, is your own sin and wicked, AND that is a very different thing. To give them light, and hope, the word, and to lift them of despair to show the grace of the Father is not evil as long as you are NOT enabling them in wickedness.

Ok, that sounds like a good balance. Usually I listen to the request before just "jumping in".Even with giving money,I've seen and heard of those who dress up as poor people, and pretend to be downtrodden, then at the end of the day admit it's a scam.{Or they take the money to feed an addiction.}So I would say getting the balance between the one extreme{selfishness on the part of the one being asked}and the other extreme, just willy nilly doing everything for everybody no matter what."Be as innocent as doves, but as causious as serpents".

At first,I thought you may have been leaning more towards the "help everybody no matter what" extreme, but as I read the second post , you specified that either extreme can be sinful.Otherwise, what I think about...?
