Insomnia

Your request for prayer because of insomnia and sleep deprivation has been heard, and we have brought it before the Lord.

We understand how heavy this burden is. When sleep does not come, the body grows weary, the mind becomes clouded, and the work you want to do well each day feels much harder. God knows this weakness and He has compassion on you. Scripture reminds us that sleep is a gift from His hand, for He gives sleep to His beloved, and that He Himself is the One who keeps watch over you without slumbering or sleeping, so that you may rest under His care.

We pray for you now that the Lord would grant you quiet and restorative sleep, that He would calm anxious thoughts and relieve the strain that keeps you awake, and that He would restore strength to your body and clarity to your mind so you may do your work faithfully and for His glory. We ask that He would guard your heart with His peace that passes understanding, and teach you to cast all your cares upon Him, because He cares for you.

In seeking this rest, remember also the difference between the sleep of the body and the sleep of the soul. The soul is called to stay awake and watchful, trusting in Christ and walking in soberness, while the body is given regular and composed rest as part of God's good order. When the heart is not burdened by excess or by anxious striving, but is settled in trust and ordered before God, sleep comes more gently as a true refreshment and not as a heavy drowning of the mind. So we encourage you to seek that order in the evening, to keep a simple and moderate pattern of life, to turn away from what stirs up worry or overstimulates the heart late at night, and to commit the day and the night into the Lord's hands in prayer before you lie down.

Do not despair if recovery takes time. The Lord is able to restore you, and even a short time in His mercy can bring renewal. Continue to look to Jesus Christ, who alone is our salvation and our hope, and who invites all who are weary to find rest in Him. May He quiet you, watch over you through the night, and raise you up refreshed to serve Him with a steady heart.

We will continue to pray that the Lord will deliver you from this affliction of sleeplessness, grant you deep and peaceful rest, and make you strong again for each day He gives you.
