Insomnia for 2 years

Disciple of Prayer
Please, pray for God to heal me of insomnia. There are about ### years that I can't sleep well. I have tried medications, therapies (CBT-i), behavior changes, but I am still struggling with it. I am losing hope in my days. Sometimes I ask God to take my life away. Please, pray for me.. I want to live again.. When I pray for Jesus, I don't feel him.

We are deeply grieved to hear of your prolonged struggle with insomnia and the heaviness of heart that has settled upon you. Two years of sleeplessness is a burden no one should bear alone, and we want you to know that we are standing with you in prayer, lifting you before the throne of grace where mercy is found. Your cry for healing and restoration has not gone unheard by our Heavenly Father, who cares for you more than you can imagine. He sees your sleepless nights, your weariness, and the despair that has whispered lies to your soul. But take heart, beloved, for the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

It troubles us to hear you say that you have asked God to take your life. We must gently but firmly rebuke this thought, for it does not align with the hope and purpose God has for you. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus came that you may have life, and have it abundantly. Your life is precious to God, and He has plans for you—plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Suicidal thoughts are not from the Lord but are attacks from the enemy to rob you of the destiny God has prepared. We urge you to reject these thoughts in the name of Jesus and cling to the promise that He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6).

We also notice that while you mention praying to Jesus, you shared that you do not feel His presence. Feelings can be deceiving, especially in seasons of deep trial, but God’s Word is unchanging and true. Jesus promised that He is with us always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20). He is with you now, even if you cannot sense Him. Faith is not built on feelings but on the truth of Scripture. We encourage you to stand on His promises, even when your emotions do not align. The psalmist David often cried out to God in despair, yet he continually chose to trust in the Lord’s faithfulness. In Psalm 42:5, he asks, *"Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him for the saving help of his presence."*

Insomnia can be a physical, emotional, and spiritual battle, and we want to address all three. While you have sought help through medications and therapies, we must remember that true healing comes from the Lord. He is Jehovah-Rapha, the God who heals (Exodus 15:26). We encourage you to continue seeking wise counsel and medical support, but above all, to place your trust in the Great Physician. Sometimes, sleeplessness can be tied to spiritual oppression, unconfessed sin, or deep-seated anxiety. We urge you to examine your heart before the Lord. Is there anything weighing on your conscience? Are there areas of unforgiveness, bitterness, or fear that need to be surrendered to Him? The Bible tells us to cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). If there is sin, confess it and receive His forgiveness (1 John 1:9). If there is spiritual oppression, we stand with you in rebuking it in the name of Jesus.

Let us also remind you that your struggle is not in vain. The apostle Paul speaks of a "thorn in the flesh" that he pleaded with the Lord to remove, but God’s response was, *"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness"* (2 Corinthians 12:9). Sometimes, God allows trials to persist so that His strength may be displayed in our lives. This does not mean He is indifferent to your pain; rather, He is refining you, drawing you closer to Himself, and preparing you for a testimony of His faithfulness.

Now, let us pray for you with fervency and faith:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is weary and burdened by the relentless grip of insomnia. Lord, You are the God who neither slumbers nor sleeps (Psalm 121:4), and we ask that You would grant them the rest they so desperately need. You formed their body, and You know the intricate workings of their mind and spirit. We pray that You would touch them with Your healing hand, restoring their sleep patterns and renewing their strength. Lord, rebuke any spiritual forces that may be contributing to this sleeplessness. If there are strongholds of anxiety, fear, or oppression, we command them to flee in the mighty name of Jesus.

Father, we also lift up their heart, which has grown heavy with despair. Replace their hopelessness with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Remind them that their life is precious to You and that You have a purpose for their days. Break the lies of the enemy that whisper worthlessness or death, and fill them with the truth of Your love and redemption. Let them feel Your presence in a tangible way, even if they cannot sense it now. Draw them into a deeper intimacy with You, where they find rest for their soul (Matthew 11:28-30).

Lord, we ask that You would surround them with Your angels, ministering to them in this time of need (Psalm 91:11). Provide them with godly counsel, supportive community, and the perseverance to keep seeking You. Give them wisdom to steward their days well, even in exhaustion, and fill them with Your joy, which is their strength (Nehemiah 8:10).

We declare that this season of sleeplessness will not define them but will instead become a testimony of Your faithfulness. You are the God who turns mourning into dancing (Psalm 30:11), and we trust You to bring restoration. Let them wake each day with a song of praise on their lips, knowing that You are their hope and their salvation.

In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Healer and Redeemer, we pray. Amen.

Beloved, we urge you to hold fast to these truths. Spend time in the Word of God daily, even if it is just a few verses. Let Scripture be the lamp to your feet and the light to your path (Psalm 119:105). Worship the Lord, even in the night watches, for He inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3). And remember, you are not alone in this fight. We are standing with you, and so are countless others in the body of Christ.

If the sleeplessness persists, consider fasting and praying specifically against it, asking the Lord to reveal any underlying issues He wants to address. Sometimes, our physical struggles are tied to spiritual battles that require intentional warfare through prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21).

Lastly, if the thoughts of despair return, we implore you to reach out to a trusted believer, pastor, or counselor immediately. You are loved, you are valued, and your life is a gift from God. Do not let the enemy steal another moment of the purpose God has for you. Cling to Jesus, for He is your anchor in the storm. He will see you through this valley and into the light of His presence.
