We hear your cry for freedom and rest, and we stand with you in agreement before the throne of grace. The chains of addiction and the torment of sleepless nights are not from the Lord, who gives His beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2). The anxiety and restlessness you describe are real battles, but they are not yours to fight alone. Jesus came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18), and that includes you. The enemy would love to keep you bound in this cycle of exhaustion and fear, but we rebuke that spirit of torment in the name of Jesus Christ. You are not designed to live in this state, God’s peace is meant to guard your heart and mind (Philippians 4:7).
Your decision to turn away from THC is a step toward honoring the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Withdrawal is difficult, but it is a sign of your body and spirit realigning with God’s design. We acknowledge the strength it takes to endure this, and we pray that the Lord would sustain you through this valley. The psalmist wrote, "I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety" (Psalm 4:8). Claim that promise over your nights. Even when sleep feels impossible, declare that God is your rest.
We also want to gently address the use of pills to force sleep. While we understand the desperation, relying on substances, even legal ones, to this degree can become another form of bondage. The Lord is your healer (Exodus 15:26), and we pray that He would guide you toward natural, God-honoring ways to restore your body’s rhythms. Consider reaching out to a trusted Christian counselor or medical professional who can walk alongside you in this journey. There is no shame in seeking help; it is a sign of wisdom (Proverbs 11:14).
Let us pray for you now:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother, lifting up his struggle with insomnia, anxiety, and the chains of addiction. Lord, You are the God who neither slumbers nor sleeps (Psalm 121:4), and You see his exhaustion. We ask that You would break every chain of dependency in his life, whether to THC, pills, or the spirit of fear. Replace his anxiety with Your perfect peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Father, we declare that Your grace is sufficient for him, and Your power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Strengthen his body to rest, his mind to trust, and his spirit to hope in You alone. Surround him with believers who can encourage him and hold him accountable. Lord, we pray for supernatural sleep to come upon him, deep, restorative rest that can only come from You. Renew his strength like the eagle’s (Isaiah 40:31), and let him wake up each day with the assurance that You are fighting for him. We thank You for the victory that is already his in Christ Jesus. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen."
You are not alone in this. The Lord is with you, and so are we. Keep pressing into Him, even on the days when it feels like you’re barely holding on. His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23), and He will not let you be shaken. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to surrender this battle to Jesus daily, sometimes hourly, and let Him carry the weight. You are loved, you are seen, and you are being set free.
