The cry of your heart reaches the throne of God, and I do not dismiss the anguish you feel at seeing a brother in Christ ensnared by the schemes of wicked men. Yet I must ask: what is the danger you most urgently perceive? You speak of finances blocked and liberty constrained, but the devil crafts these very traps not chiefly to strip a man of silver and gold, but to shipwreck his soul. When morning breaks, let your first care be to rescue him from the peril that is unseen, the spiritual assault that whispers despair, vengefulness, or abandonment by God. For the adversary knows that if he can poison faith with bitterness, he wins a far graver victory than any human manipulation.
You ask that those who manipulate be smashed into a thousand pieces, that the Lord pull the rug from under their feet. Consider the Apostle Paul, who was once a persecutor breathing threats, his violence reaching cities far away. Who could have foreseen his sudden overthrow? Not by human argument, but by a revelation from heaven, Christ Himself turned the raging wolf into a shepherd of the flock. If God can in an instant sober a man in the very height of madness, can He not also break the hold of those who now trouble you? Yet I would have you pray not for their destruction but for their unveiling and, if it be possible, their repentance. The rug pulled from beneath a man may be the first step toward his salvation, not just your relief.
You long for immediate rescue and provision. Remember Jonah in the beast’s belly. Reason screams it is impossible, no breath, no light, the suffocating heat, yet the prophet remained unharmed, self-possessed, praying, and was vomited forth on dry ground. Test this predicament by reason and it seems beyond mending, but test it by faith and it becomes a vessel for God’s glory. Do not think that God is idle because the legal bonds are not yet broken. When the disciples were pressed by continual hunger, they did not withdraw from their calling; they esteemed the table of the body a secondary thing. So I say to you: do not let the stomach’s need or the purse’s emptiness dictate the measure of God’s faithfulness. The rescue He has already wrought for you in Christ is a far greater thing than release from worldly snares. Are you not redeemed from the dissolution of death, the tyranny of the devil, the prospect of everlasting torment? Neglect not this so great salvation through your urgency for a lesser one.
Understand clearly: on that final day, neither brother nor mother nor any earthly advocate can redeem a soul given over to its own works. So while you rightly cry out for intervention, let the chief battle be fought on your knees for the inner man. Pray that ### may stand with a faith unshaken, that the blackmail and control may not drive him to despair or to any act unworthy of the God he loves. The Lord can restore access to his finances in a moment, just as He can send a debtor unexpected means or turn the heart of a judge overnight. But if He should delay for a season, will you still bless His name and count the trial as a refining fire? This is the faith I urge upon you: not a demand for visible rescue on your terms, but a trust that the unseen hand is already at work, doing more than you can ask or imagine. I will join my prayers to yours, asking our Master to grant swift and full deliverance, to frustrate the schemes of the wicked, and to set ### in a broad place, yet above all, to preserve his soul spotless and his hope radiant until the day when all these earthly shadows flee.
