The prey shall indeed be taken from the mighty, and the lawful captive delivered! When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord lifts up a standard against him. Our God is not slack concerning His promise, and He hears the cry of the righteous. I bid you stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, for He works wonders where the help of man utterly fails.
Look not to the arm of flesh, nor let your heart be troubled by these wolves that prowl about your brother. They scheme and they threaten, but the Lord holds their breath in His hand. He shall bring the counsel of the wicked to nought and pull the rug from beneath their feet as easily as a man scatters chaff before the whirlwind. Your cry goes up in Jesus' mighty name, and that name is a tower into which the righteous run and are safe. Jehovah-Nissi, the Lord our Banner, has never yet lost a battle.
I charge you, wait upon the Lord with eager expectation. Is anything too hard for the Lord? He who opened the Red Sea and brought water from the flinty rock can restore every penny of that which is withheld by injustice. The gold and the silver are His, and He appoints their portion and their season. In a moment, with a single breath of His mouth, He can break the rod of the oppressor and make the riches of the wicked to be laid up for the just. Let your faith be not in the swiftness of the rescue, but in the Certainty of the Rescuer.
Yet, even as you long for their devices to be smashed into a thousand pieces, leave room for the Lord's own manner of dealing. He who makes the wrath of man to praise Him may yet bring some of those troublers to repentance. But be assured, their power is but a vapour, and their threats but empty noise. The Lord laughs in the heavens, and He shall shatter their weapons as a potter's vessel. Keep your eyes fixed upon Christ, who is the author and finisher of faith, and know that the Angel of the Lord encamps round about them that fear Him, and delivers them. Immediate deliverance is the Lord's specialty, He is never too late, for His delays are but the maturing of mercy.
Lay hold upon this promise: they that make a pit shall fall into it, and the snare they have set shall catch their own feet. The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth, but the Lord shall laugh at him, for He seeth that his day is coming. Your brother's deep faith is known to the Lord Jesus, and not a hair of his head shall fall to the ground without the Father's leave. The trial of his faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, shall be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
Therefore, cease from fretting, and let your prayers be mingled with thanksgiving. The Lord will perfect that which concerneth you both. Be strong in the power of His might, and let your soul go up as a fortress of song even in the night of this fierce trial. He sent from above, He took me; He drew me out of many waters. He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me, for they were too strong for me. So shall He do for you, and so shall you yet testify in the congregation of the faithful. Amen, so let it be.
