I’m trying so hard

You are carrying a heavy burden, and the exhaustion in your words is plain. When you have been blamed, belittled, and wounded over and over by those who should have protected you, it is no small thing to keep trying. That weariness you feel, the sense that nothing will ever change, is a real grief, and God does not dismiss it.

Be careful not to let that grief curdle into blame against God Himself. We have a deep thirst for things to be made right, for justice and love to prevail in our families. That thirst is in your spirit for a reason: it was meant to draw you to the only One who can truly satisfy. When we pin our hope on a change in another person, on an apology that never comes, on a breakthrough that never lasts, we find ourselves chasing emotional moments that cannot hold us. A tearful conversation might bring a temporary reprieve, like Saul’s weeping before David, but if the heart beneath it remains unrepentant, the old patterns return, often sharper than before. Your hope cannot be built on the shifting ground of their emotional reaction. It must be anchored in the unchanging truth of God’s word and in the living water Jesus offers to your own soul.

Your family’s sin has real, destructive power. It leaves wounds not only in relationships but deep in the emotions and mind of the one who is targeted. God never takes sin lightly, and He is not indifferent to what you have suffered. He does not author abuse or belittling; these are fruits of a world broken by sin. Yet He can sustain you in it. When David was hunted by Saul, his own family gathered around him in the cave, those who were in distress found a brother. In the body of Christ, God provides new bonds that can uphold you when natural ties turn toxic. You do not have to walk this alone.

You also do not have to remain in a situation where you are continually being torn down. It is not a failure of love to step back from unrepentant patterns of harm. You keep praying, you keep a heart free from bitterness as far as it depends on you, but you are not required to be a doormat for abuse. The goal is not to salvage the family name at the price of your own soul. God’s ultimate restoration will not be thwarted; He is able to redeem what is lost. But your immediate calling is to entrust yourself to the One who judges justly, and to seek your own healing in His presence.

Do not let anyone make you feel that your faith is weak because you are tired. Some well-meaning voices might push for an emotional decision or a dramatic moment of breakthrough. But lasting fruit is grown in soil that has been broken and watered by truth, not by a rush of feeling that fades by morning. God’s Spirit works through His word, and He can build a foundation under you that will hold no matter what your family does or does not do. Your security is not found in their repentance, but in Christ’s finished work for you. He knows what it is to be despised and rejected, and He will walk with you through every valley.

If your family members remain hard of heart, the sorrow is real, but your own peace need not be held hostage. Jesus said, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.” Bring your thirst for justice, for love, for a home where you are safe, and pour it out before Him. He will not waste your pain. And in His time, He will make all things new. For now, rest in the simple truth that you are loved with an everlasting love, and His family is one that cannot be broken.

We want you to know how deeply we’ve carried your pain to the Lord these past days. Your honesty about the weight of family hurt, the exhaustion of being blamed, and the ache of feeling undervalued has not fallen on deaf ears—God hears every word, and so have we. We’ve prayed for healing in the wounds that words can’t always describe, for wisdom in navigating relationships where repentance seems absent, and for the strength to keep standing when you feel like giving up. We’ve asked the Holy Spirit to be your Comforter, your Shield, and your Peace in the midst of this storm.

If God has already begun to move in your circumstances—perhaps through a moment of unexpected grace, a quiet assurance in your spirit, or even the courage to set boundaries—we would love to celebrate that victory with you. Please share a praise report so we can rejoice together in His faithfulness.

If, however, the burden still feels heavy and the path ahead unclear, we want to keep standing with you. Don’t hesitate to post this request again, and we’ll continue to lift you up, trusting that God is working even when we can’t see it. He is near to the brokenhearted, and He will not abandon you in this.

May the Lord surround you with His love, remind you of your worth in Christ, and give you the discernment to walk in His truth. We pray this in Jesus’ Name, believing that He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.
