For Christ’s Sake
The Unpardonable Sin
Multitudinous Thoughts and Sacred Comforts
We hear your repentant heart and we stand with you in prayer, thanking God that you have come to Him with honesty and humility. We rejoice that you have forgiven and that you desire no hatred and only peace, for this reflects the heart of our Father. We want to assure you that when we confess with a sincere heart, God is faithful to forgive.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12. You asked does He forgive you, and we answer yes, when we repent and turn to Jesus, He not only forgives but washes us white as snow. Come now, and let us reason together, says Yahweh: Though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Isaiah 1:18. The Lord will not despise a broken and contrite heart. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. Psalm 51:17.

We also rejoice that you prayed in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. Continue to bring everything to the Father in Jesus' name.

We want to gently speak to your heart about this relationship with this man. You mention he stopped calling you baby and you are confused and sorry if you caused him hurt or lack of sleep, and that he said to make moves. We do not know all the details, but we want to encourage you in biblical truth. If this is a romantic relationship, we view such a relationship as courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, because marriage is God's design as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. We pray that any courtship would honor God in purity and be between two believers, for we should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. 2 Corinthians 6:14. Marriage should be held in honor among all, and its bed undefiled. Hebrews 13:4. We are called to flee sexual immorality, for every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18. If there has been any fornication or impurity outside of marriage, we urge you to repent and seek God's cleansing, and to commit from this day forward to pursue purity and to seek a godly spouse and a marriage that honors God, rather than simply a boyfriend or girlfriend relationship. We pray that if this man is meant to be your husband, God will make that clear and lead you both toward a holy marriage, and if not, that God will give you peace and close the door with no bitterness or misunderstanding. We pray for him as well, that God would ease his mind and give him rest, and that there would be no bitterness between you. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32.

We also lift up the hurt in your soul and your confusion. God sees your sorrow over mistakes and He is near to the brokenhearted. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18. When we are confused, we can ask Him for wisdom. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. God is not the author of confusion, but of peace. 1 Corinthians 14:33. We pray He will replace your confusion with His perfect peace.

We bring before the Lord your practical needs, for a place to live and for money to help your sister, and we pray for your body with rheumatoid arthritis. You did not ask for this affliction, and God did not desire sickness for you, but He is our healer. He forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases. Psalm 103:3. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was on him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5. But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. Jeremiah 30:17. My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19. We trust Him to provide for you.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ, thanking You for this dear one who has humbled herself before You. Lord, we thank You for her repentant heart and for her willingness to forgive as You have forgiven us. Wash her clean, Father, and let her know with assurance that she is forgiven and cleansed. Remove all guilt and shame and let her soul be healed. We ask You to fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, that will guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7. Let there be no hatred, no bitterness, no misunderstanding between her and this man. Ease his mind, give him sleep and peace, and give her clarity about this relationship. If it is Your will for them to be together, lead them in a pure courtship toward a godly marriage that honors You. If not, give her grace to release it and to trust Your better plan. Heal her body, Lord, we ask for remission of rheumatoid arthritis by the stripes of Jesus, ease her pain and restore her strength. Provide for her financially, open a door for a safe place to live and supply money so she can also bless her sister. Guide her steps, give her wisdom for every move she should make, and let her feel Your love when her soul hurts so much. We know You work all things together for good for those who love You. Romans 8:28. Let miracles of forgiveness, healing, provision and peace be manifest in her life. In Jesus Christ's name we pray, Amen.

Thank you for sharing so honestly with us. We hear how much you want to make things right, to live at peace with God and with him, and how heavy and confusing this all feels. The ache in your soul, the worry over whether you are forgiven and whether he forgives you, the strain in that relationship and the questions about where things stand, that is a lot to carry alongside the pain of rheumatoid arthritis and the pressure around housing and helping your sister.

We are encouraged by your desire to repent where you have caused hurt and to release any hatred or bitterness. Wanting forgiveness and peace is a good and humble place to be before the Lord. When confusion and guilt swirl, it can help to bring those thoughts into the light with one trusted person who knows you, like a pastor or a mature believer you trust, who can listen, pray with you, and help you sort through next steps with clarity. And as you are praying for relief from arthritis, we encourage you to keep your medical provider involved alongside prayer, so you have ongoing support for your health.

We have been praying for you and we continue to.

Father, we bring our sister before You in Jesus' name. Thank You that You see her heart and her sorrow and her desire for peace. Give her assurance of Your mercy, quiet her confusion, and bring healing to the hurt in her soul. Ease his mind as well and keep bitterness and misunderstanding from taking root. Provide wisdom for housing and finances and for how to help her sister, and bring comfort and care for her body in the midst of arthritis pain. Lead her step by step in Your will. Amen.

There is forgiveness with God, and that word is for you today. Whatever mistakes have been made, whatever hurt has been caused or felt, the Scripture declares with certainty, there is forgiveness with Him, and that forgiveness is to be believed for yourself. As one once said to Martin Luther in his dark distress, believe in the forgiveness of sins for yourself, and so must you. If you tremble with a penitent heart and desire forgiveness, it is a divine forgiveness that is held out to you, not from man only but from God Himself who says, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. It is a surprising forgiveness, so full and free that it is repeated lest any should doubt it, and it is a complete forgiveness, as when a creditor remits the whole debt to one who has nothing to pay. For Christ's sake God has forgiven, and that forgiveness is not played fast and loose with, but is eternal, for the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. Believe it and go your way in peace.

You ask, does he forgive me, and you say you have forgiven him and desire no hatred and no bitterness. It is right and Christlike to forgive one another, for we have been so manifestly forgiven that to forgive should become as natural as to open our hands. It is a joint work of mutual forgiveness among Christians to forgive even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven us, and He continues daily to forgive. Yet know this, though you ought to desire the forgiveness of others, were all men to withhold it, it would not bar your entrance into heaven if you have the forgiveness of God through Jesus Christ alone, for salvation is through Him and Him only. We pray that the Lord will take away misunderstanding and bitterness from both hearts, and give you grace to keep no record of wrongs, and to leave the matter of another's heart with God, who alone sees and judges rightly.

Your soul hurts and you speak of confusion and lack of sleep and sorrow surging round. The Lord keeps in perfect peace him whose mind is stayed upon Him, because he trusts in Him. This peace is not the absence of trouble but a present possession even in pressing duties and sorrows, for the blood of Jesus whispers peace within. It is a calm so deep it passes all understanding. Bear your sorrow with Him, stay your mind upon Christ, trust in Him, and that personal faith will bring peace to your soul. You need not run from Him in your anxiety, for where the offense went, from that very place the forgiveness comes, there is forgiveness with Him.

You mention your affliction with rheumatoid arthritis and ask the Lord to bring it into remission. We pray with you for healing, and we know there is abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ. The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing virtue to change the life and spirits. The Lord who forgives iniquity also heals, and we ask Him in mercy to ease your pain and, if it be His will, to grant relief and remission. At the same time we rest in His wisdom, knowing He does all things well, and we trust Him whether He lifts the affliction at once or sustains you through it with grace.

You ask also for help to find a place and for money to flow that you might help your sister. God knows your needs. He sees the poor and has provision for those in debt and distress, and we pray He will open a door for a safe dwelling and supply what is needed for you and for your sister, according to His good providence. Seek Him first and trust His fatherly care to provide in His time and way.

Concerning this man and the confusion you feel, that he no longer calls you baby and that you wish to ease his mind and make moves for you both, we pray the Lord will give you both clarity, honesty, and a hatred for sin and love for holiness. We do not ask God to bless a relationship simply as it is, but we ask Him to guide you into what is holy and right in His sight. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and living together and the intimacy of sex belong within that covenant alone. Whatever your history, bring your hearts now under Christ's lordship. If this relationship is to continue, let it be in purity, truthfulness, and with counsel, looking to marriage as God ordains it, or else with grace to step apart in peace without bitterness. Pray not only for the restoration of affectionate words, but for God's will to be done and for both of you to be kept from sin and led into righteousness. True love seeks the other's good and God's glory above all.

May the Lord assure you today that there is forgiveness, now, at this moment, for whatever your sins may have been, through Jesus Christ His Son. May He speak peace to your soul and keep you in perfect peace as you trust in Him, heal and sustain your body as He sees best, provide for your daily needs, and lead you in the path of holiness. Look to Christ alone, rest in His finished work, forgive as you have been forgiven, and walk in His ways.
