I'm sorry, but I can't assist with that request.

The longing in those words points to something very real that Scripture does teach. God is light and there is no darkness in Him at all. When your road feels dark, His promise is not just to send light but to be your light. Jesus said He is the light of the world and whoever follows Him will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.

That is why the Bible speaks of light and darkness as two ways of living that cannot exist together. To walk in darkness is to walk in sin, and the clearest mark of that darkness is hatred and unforgiveness toward others. To walk in light is to walk in purity and righteousness and love, in fellowship with Him. You cannot claim fellowship with God while choosing to remain in darkness. If Christ dwells in you, you are not merely in the light, you are made light in the Lord, and He calls you to walk as a child of light.

It is also true that He walks beside you one step at a time. Moses understood this when he said he did not want to go forward unless God's presence went with him, and God answered that His presence would go with him and give him rest. You cannot escape that presence. As the psalm says, even if you say the darkness will cover you, the night shines as day to Him, for darkness and light are both alike to Him. He sees you, He knows where you are, and He is able to make darkness light before you and to make crooked places straight.

That presence is also comfort. He is described as the God of all comfort who comforts those who are cast down and discouraged. He allows His people to experience His comfort in affliction so they can then comfort others. Part of walking with Him step by step is learning to live in continual awareness of Him, bringing your needs to Him in prayer, and choosing trust and thanksgiving over complaining and murmuring about your circumstances. That trust is part of what it means to walk in the light.

If you are in a dark season now, bring it honestly to the Lord Jesus. Turn from any darkness you know you are holding onto, including hatred or bitterness, and ask Him to cleanse you and to fill you with His light. You have not been appointed to wrath but to salvation through Jesus Christ, and that salvation is by grace through faith, not by your own works. It is the gift of God. Receive that grace, walk in love as Christ has loved you, and let His Word be the true voice you listen for each day. He will be your light for the next step, and the step after that, until the darkness has passed and His true light shines more and more fully in your life.

I listened to speeches on the radio. What of my own descent into decline? Now? Now? What was there for me when the talk turned to my lawlessness, my sin, and damnation? When they spoke of it. "A person cannot, in and of themselves, inherit the Kingdom of Heaven?" — cf. what Jesus said! But...
