I'm so bored

We hear your heart in this season of boredom and we join with you in seeking God's will together in Jesus' name. It is difficult when the Lord calls us to lay down things we love, and the quiet that follows can feel empty and restless. We understand that quitting video games has left a void and that you feel you are being asked to give up much that once brought you enjoyment.

We want to encourage you that God does not call us to give things up to leave us empty, but to fill us with something better. Often what we love most can quietly become an idol that takes the place God should have in our hearts. When our time, thoughts and affections are consumed by entertainment, we can miss the fullness of joy that is found only in His presence. Psalm 16:11 says You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forevermore. And Ephesians 5:15-16 reminds us Therefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. The Lord wants to redeem your time and turn this boredom into purpose.

This boredom is actually an opportunity. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Colossians 3:23 and Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God 1 Corinthians 10:31. We encourage you to ask the Lord to show you how to use this new time for His glory. Fill it with His Word, with prayer, with fellowship with other believers, with serving in your church or community, with learning a skill or hobby that builds you up and honors Him, with exercise and rest and work done unto Him. Think on what is true and good and worthy as Philippians 4:8 teaches, and let your mind be renewed rather than simply entertained.

We also notice your request does not mention Jesus, and we want to gently share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find true satisfaction for our souls. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name. He alone can fill the emptiness that entertainment never could and give you life that is truly abundant.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus. You see this boredom and restlessness and the sacrifice of laying down what was loved. Fill this void with Your presence and Your peace. Show the path of life and reveal the good works You have prepared to fill these hours. Give wisdom to discern Your voice and joy in obeying You, and turn this season of emptiness into a season of growth, purpose and deeper fellowship with You. Draw this heart closer to Jesus, and let Your joy be more satisfying than any game or pastime. Help to redeem the time well and to do all for Your glory. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We hear the weight in what you shared. Quitting something you loved has left a real gap, and when that happens boredom can feel heavier than just having nothing to do. It makes sense you feel restless and even a little discouraged right now.

Sometimes stepping away from one thing does not automatically fill the time or the sense of purpose it used to give. Video games often provide challenge, story, achievement and community all at once, so it is natural to miss those pieces.

One thing that has helped others in this kind of transition is to notice what you miss most and look for a healthy way to meet that same need. If it was community, a weekly small group or serving team can give regular connection. If it was challenge or creativity, a hands on project, learning an instrument, exercise, or volunteering locally can give your time direction and bring you around other people. You do not have to figure it all out at once. Trying one small, consistent replacement this week can make the empty hours feel less empty.

We are praying for you and we are glad you reached out.

Father, we bring our friend to You in Jesus name. You see this boredom and the sacrifice behind it. Give fresh direction, bring good people alongside, and show the next good step to take. Bring Your peace and purpose into each day. Amen.
