We hear the heaviness in your request and we are lifting you up together before the Lord in Jesus name. To be sick and to be worried about money at the same time can feel overwhelming and steal hope, and we want you to know that God sees you in this place and He cares deeply for you.

We want to speak with love and truth about the desire to win the lottery. We understand the desperation that makes a large windfall seem like the only way out, but the pursuit of the lottery is not the way God teaches us to find hope or provision. Scripture warns us that wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but he who gathers little by little will increase Proverbs 13:11, and that the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, which some have coveted after and have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows 1 Timothy 6:10. God calls us to be good stewards of what He has given us and to be content with what we have, for He has said, I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you Hebrews 13:5. True hope is not found in chance, but in the living God who promises to supply every need of ours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19 when we seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness Matthew 6:33.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently share why that matters so much to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus Himself said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not yet put your trust in Him, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation Romans 10:9. It is through Jesus that we can bring our sickness and our financial fears directly to God with confidence that He hears us.

God is your healer and your provider, and He offers a hope that does not disappoint. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3, and He says, I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds Jeremiah 30:17. He also says, Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. His plans for you are for peace and not for evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11, and that hope is secure in Christ, not in a ticket.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You on behalf of this dear one who is sick and burdened by financial need. Lord, You know the body and its weakness, and we ask for Your healing touch upon them. Lay Your hand upon them and bring restoration according to Your will, comfort their pain, and give wisdom to those providing care. We ask that You lift the spirit of hopelessness and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding Philippians 4:7. Father, we ask that You provide for every real need in a way that brings You glory, open doors for help through Your church and community, give opportunity for work and stewardship, and teach contentment and trust in Your daily provision. Forgive us for when we look to chance or riches to save us instead of looking to You. Draw this dear one closer to Jesus, reveal Your love through the cross, and give them saving faith if they have not yet believed. Let them find their hope, their joy, and their security in You alone. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our only hope and healer, amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word each day, to reach out to a local Bible believing church for prayer and practical help, and to continue to seek proper medical care while trusting God as your ultimate healer and provider. We are continuing to pray with you for true hope, healing, and peace in Christ.

Your burden has been heard, and we lift your need for healing and for hope before the Lord with care and compassion. To be sick in body and pressed in means is a heavy trial, and it is right to seek the Lord for mercy, for health, and for daily provision.

We cannot join you in asking God to grant a win in the lottery or Powerball, for that would be to ask Him to bless a path He warns us against. Scripture teaches us to pray, Lead us not into temptation, and gambling is such a temptation. It holds out a hope which is no hope, wearying the soul in the length of its way while promising what it cannot give. As one of the passages before us says, there are temptations of money when men are drawn into racing, gambling and other snares, and the faithful prayer is not to be led into them but to be kept from them. To seek sudden riches by chance is to ask to be led into that very trial from which our Lord taught us to pray for deliverance.

There is a true hope, and it is not found in a ticket or in chance, but in Jesus Christ alone. There is no hope for you in yourself, but there is hope for you in Him whom God has provided to be the Savior. That hope is not a possible hope only, but a sure and living hope through believing in Christ, who pardons sin and heals the broken heart. The Scriptures speak of the leaves of the tree being for the healing of the nations, and teach that even the least thing about Christ is healing. His healing power flows from Calvary, where pardon and healing meet, for when Jesus healed He often said, Your sins are forgiven. The healing we most need is the healing of the soul, and from that flows strength for the body and peace for the spirit, whether He grants recovery in this life or sustains us through suffering.

So we will pray for you as Christ directs us to pray. We will ask the Great Physician to lay His hand upon you in sickness, to give wisdom to those who care for you, and to grant you patience and comfort in affliction. We will ask our Father to provide for your daily needs according to His riches, to give you contentment and honest means, and to keep you from the snare of pining need on the one hand and the snare of sudden gain on the other. We will ask Him to humble and to lift you, for God grants pardon when men are humbled and high thoughts of God beget hope in the soul, and hope leads to confidence in His forgiveness through Christ.

If you do not yet know Him, turn to Christ now as your only hope. Confess your need, trust His blood shed for sinners, and receive the forgiveness He freely gives. If you do know Him, cast your care upon Him, for there is One who cares for you. Seek help also through ordinary means God provides, the counsel of a faithful pastor, the care of physicians, the help of the church family, and honest labor as God enables you.

May the Lord turn your present trial into good, keep you from temptation, and give you that good hope of eternal life which does not disappoint. We are praying that you will find in Christ both pardon for sin and healing for your wounds, and that you will know His sustaining grace day by day.
