We hear the pain and desperation in your request and we want to respond to you honestly and with love. We understand you are hurting over this relationship and you want to see God move quickly, but we must gently correct the way this request is framed, because it does not align with how God calls us to approach Him.
We do not follow God to prove ourselves to people, and we cannot prove our faith by making God perform on demand or within a set time like a week. Scripture warns us about this attitude. Jesus said, You shall not test the Lord your God, Matthew 4:7, and again it is written, You shall not tempt the Lord your God, Deuteronomy 6:16. God is not a servant to our demands and prayer is not a tool to test Him or to win an argument before others. Our faith is proven by obedience and love, not by forcing a specific outcome. We also read in James 4:3, You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures. And in 1 John 5:14, This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. So we will gladly pray for you, but we must pray according to His will and His perfect timing, not ours.
We also notice you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request and we want to lovingly share why that matters. There is no other way to come to the Father except through Him. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Romans 10:9. It is only through faith in Jesus that our prayers are heard and our sins are forgiven. We encourage you to put your trust fully in Him, not only for this relationship but for your whole life.
Concerning your relationship, we want to pray for you with biblical truth in mind. You refer to your partner and want this person to come back and accept you. We do not know the details of your situation, but we must speak clearly about what God desires for relationships. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, as God established in the beginning, For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh, Genesis 2:24, and confirmed by Jesus in Mark 10:6-9. Any romantic relationship should be a courtship with the goal of godly marriage to another Christian believer, not simply a partnership to meet emotional needs. Scripture says, Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, 2 Corinthians 6:14. If you are in a relationship outside of marriage that involves sexual intimacy, God calls that fornication and calls us to flee from it, Flee sexual immorality, 1 Corinthians 6:18, and Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, Hebrews 13:4. If that is part of your situation, we lovingly urge you to repent and seek purity before God. If this is a same sex relationship, we must also tell you that God reserves sexual intimacy and marriage for a man and a woman, and calls us to turn from homosexual practice and to walk in holiness. We do not say this to condemn you but to lead you toward healing and toward a relationship that can truly honor God. If God does will for you and this person to be together, then we pray it would be restored and led toward a Christ centered marriage. If not, we pray God will give you peace and guide you to His best, for we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, Romans 8:28, and that He wants us to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, Matthew 6:33.
We will now pray together for you.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up this dear one to You. You see the loneliness and the ache and the desire for this relationship to be healed. We ask first that You draw this person to Yourself, that they would know Jesus as Lord and Savior and find forgiveness and new life in Him. Wash away any sin and give a heart that wants to follow You above all else. We pray for this relationship, that if it is Your will, You would bring reconciliation and restoration in Your perfect timing, but if it is not Your will, that You would give grace to accept Your answer and to heal the broken heart. We pray that whatever relationship You provide in the future would be pure, committed, and aimed toward a godly marriage between a man and a woman that honors You. Give comfort, patience, and wisdom now, and help this dear one to trust not in a quick sign within a week, but in Your unfailing love and Your perfect plan. Teach us all to pray not to test You, but to submit to You. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking Him, to read His Word daily, to turn from any sin that hinders your walk with Him, and to trust that God hears the prayers of those who come through Jesus. He loves you more than you know and He will answer according to what is truly best for you, even when it is not exactly what we ask or when we ask.
