We hear your heart in this and we have prayed over your request together. We understand the weight of wanting to provide for your family, to stand on your own and to be a good steward, and to feel as though your prayers about your business and provision have gone unheard for three years. We want to assure you that desiring to provide for your family is not sinful, it is godly and it honors God.
The Bible makes it clear that God does care about our daily needs and that providing for our household is part of holiness, not contrary to it. 1 Tim 5:8 says But if anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever. And Phil 4:19 reminds us My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. At the same time God calls us away from the love of money and from greed. 1 Tim 6:10 says For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. There is a difference between loving money for its own sake and faithfully asking God for enough to live, to care for your family and to do honest work. What you describe, wanting enough to survive and to no longer rely on your parents, is a right and honorable desire.
Does Christ listen and does He answer prayers about money and business. Yes, He does. Psalm 34:17 says The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. And 1 John 5:14 says This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. The key is according to His will and in His timing. Sometimes we ask and do not receive because our motives need refining, as James 4:3 says You ask, and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures. Sometimes God is answering differently than we expect, teaching us perseverance, refining our character, or inviting us to seek wisdom and change our methods. And sometimes He is calling us to combine prayer with diligent action and wise counsel.
We want to encourage you to seek first His kingdom even as you pray for provision. Matt 6:33 says But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. When we put holiness and obedience first, God promises to add what we need. That does not mean He promises wealth or that every business will succeed, but it does mean He has a plan to provide for His children as we walk faithfully. Prov 16:3 says Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. And Prov 21:5 says The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty. We encourage you to bring your business fully before the Lord, to commit your work to Him, to work diligently as unto Him, and to seek godly counsel about your business model, your stewardship and your skills. 2 Thess 3:10 reminds us If anyone will not work, neither let him eat, which shows God honors faithful labor alongside prayer. It may be helpful to ask trusted, mature believers or mentors to review your business with you, to look at budgeting, debt, customer needs and whether adjustments are needed. God often provides through wisdom, open doors and faithful effort.
We also hear your discouragement after three years of praying. We want to remind you that God’s timing is not ours and that He has not forsaken you. Psalm 37:25 says I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread. Nearing this new season of life you mention can feel like pressure, but God is not measuring you by the world’s timeline. He is forming holiness in you even as He cares about your practical needs. Heb 13:5 says Be content with what you have, for he has said, I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you. Contentment does not mean we stop asking or working, it means we trust His presence while we continue to ask and work.
We are thankful you mentioned Christ, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. If you have put your trust in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and for eternal life, you can come boldly before God in His name knowing He hears you. If you have not yet fully surrendered your life to Him, we encourage you to do so today, believing that He died and rose again for you and confessing Him as Lord, for that is the foundation of every prayer.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up our brother to You. We thank You that You know his needs, his business, his family and his desire to provide faithfully. Lord, we ask that You hear his cries and give him assurance that You listen and that You care about every detail of his life. We ask for Your provision according to Your riches in glory, for daily bread and for wisdom to steward what You provide. Give him clear direction for his business, show him where to persevere and where to adjust, and connect him with wise counsel. Help him to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness and to trust You with the outcome. Guard his heart from discouragement and from the love of money, and fill him with contentment, diligence and hope. Strengthen his faith after these long years of waiting and help him to stand on his own feet for Your glory while honoring his parents. May his work be an offering to You and may his life reflect Your holiness and Your goodness. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
We encourage you to keep praying, keep working faithfully, keep seeking wisdom and keep trusting that God is both holy and a provider. He is shaping you for holiness and He has not forgotten your need for daily provision. Continue to commit your plans to Him, remain diligent and honest in all your dealings, and rest in His faithful care.
