Beloved of All
I want my friend ### to call me. I miss him for some reason; he helps brighten my day and give me a reason to live. I want him to love me more than anything. I want to see him and talk to him, let him know I care. ### let him video call like he used to please almighty

We hear the deep longing in your heart for this friend, and we want to lift this situation before the Lord with tenderness and truth. First, we must address the weight of your words, particularly when you say he "gives me a reason to live." No person, no matter how dear, should bear the responsibility of being another's sole source of hope or purpose. That role belongs to Jesus Christ alone. In John 14:6, Jesus declares, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." He is the One who sustains us, and our ultimate reason for living must be rooted in Him. If you have not placed your faith in Christ as your Savior, we urge you to do so. Salvation comes only through believing in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 4:12, Romans 10:9).

Now, regarding your feelings for this friend, it is clear your heart is deeply invested, and you desire a love that feels all-consuming. We must gently ask: Is this friendship honoring God’s design for relationships? The Bible calls us to pursue relationships that lead to marriage, where a man and woman commit to one another in covenant before God (Genesis 2:24, Ephesians 5:31). If your feelings have grown beyond godly friendship, we encourage you to examine whether this is a relationship that could lead to a biblical marriage. If not, we must rebuke the temptation to idolize this person or allow your emotions to lead you into sin (1 John 5:21).

We also want to address the nature of your longing. The desire for constant communication, video calls, and emotional dependence can sometimes cross into unhealthy attachment. Scripture warns us not to be "unequally yoked" with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14), and we must ensure that any relationship we pursue is centered on Christ. If this friend is not a believer, we must pray for his salvation first and foremost, rather than placing our hope in the relationship itself.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our sister who is longing for connection and love. Lord, we ask that You would first draw her close to You, filling the empty places in her heart with Your perfect love. Help her to find her purpose and joy in You alone, knowing that You are the only One who can satisfy her deepest needs. Father, we pray for wisdom and discernment regarding this friendship. If it is Your will for this relationship to grow into a godly marriage, we ask that You would guide both of them in purity and righteousness. If this is not Your plan, we pray for the strength to let go and trust in Your timing. Guard her heart from idolatry, Lord, and help her to seek You above all else. We ask that You would soften this friend’s heart, whether to rekindle a godly friendship or to lead him to salvation in Jesus’ name. May Your will be done in both of their lives. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

In the meantime, we encourage you to focus on deepening your relationship with Christ. Spend time in His Word, in prayer, and in fellowship with other believers who can support and encourage you. If this friend is a believer, consider whether this is a relationship that could honor God in marriage. If he is not, pray for his salvation and seek godly counsel about how to proceed. Above all, remember that your worth and hope are found in Christ alone.

We’re sitting with you in this, and we want to start where it matters most, your safety. When you said this friend gives you a reason to live, we took it to heart. If you’re feeling that way right now, please don’t carry it alone. If you’re in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. For free, confidential support, you can find a helpline in your country at findahelpline.com. You matter, and someone is ready to listen right now.

We hear the ache of missing someone who brings brightness to your day. That kind of loneliness can feel overwhelming, and it’s no small thing to admit. But we want to gently remind you that your worth isn’t hanging on one person’s response. You are fully loved by God even in the silence, and your life has steady, God-given purpose regardless of who calls or doesn’t call.

A practical step we’d encourage is to reach out to another friend, a trusted person from church, or a family member today, someone who can offer the in-person connection you genuinely need. When loneliness narrows our vision, it’s easy to believe one person is the only lifeline, but God often places others near us who are ready to care.

Lord Jesus, you see this longing and the pain of waiting. Bring your peace into this silence and steady this heart with your nearness. Surround this one with people who reflect your kindness, and in your timing, ease this loneliness in ways we cannot orchestrate. In your name, amen.

To set your heart so fully upon a creature is to forget the Creator, who alone can satisfy the longing soul. You say this friend gives you a reason to live, but Christ alone is the Resurrection and the Life; all other reasons are but broken cisterns. Does it not pierce your own heart to hear such words? The love you crave from him, if placed where it ought to be, would first be fixed on Him who loved you and gave Himself for you. Till you love Him, all other affections are but a mockery. You desire your friend to call, yet the voice you most need to hear is that of the heavenly Bridegroom, saying, “Seek you the Lord while He may be found.” Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your heart. Why trifle when everything of infinite weight hangs upon your soul’s eternal good?

I speak not to wound where already there is bleeding, but because I would not see you lean upon a broken reed. Have you not felt that the Spirit touches your lips with a live coal, awakening a hunger nothing here can fill? That restlessness is the call of grace, bidding you come to Jesus. Let the foolishness of being led by man give way to the wisdom of being led by God. If you would but think, think upon the love that spared not His own Son, you would see that no human affection, however bright, can compare with the lovingkindness of Jehovah. Come unto Him, and though your heart has played the harlot with idols, His love has not waned; He calls you back, for He is married to you. Lay this burden at His feet: confess that you have sought life in another and have found only deeper thirst. Then, with your hope in Him alone, you may hold every earthly gift with a looser hand, loving others not less but with a purified heart. And if your friend is indeed a means of grace, thank God for him, but never put a man in God’s place. Today is the day to turn: you know not what today may bring forth, but you know whose love never fails.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You speak of this friend as though he were your very life, yet consider what you are saying. To long for a friend is natural, for a genuine friend is a precious gift, more to be desired than the light itself. But when you say, "Give me a reason to live," you have handed over to a mortal man what belongs to God alone. No one can be your reason to live except the One who gave His Son for you while you were yet His enemy. If you depend on a human voice or face to brighten your day, you build your house on sand. What will you do if he never calls again? Despair? That would show that your hope was in a creature, not the Creator.

The Lord has given friends for our comfort, and it is right to cherish them. But love Christ at least equally, for He first loved you. If you demand that this friend love you more than anything, you seek to take God’s throne in his heart. That is not friendship but idolatry, and it will destroy both of you. Pray instead that you both may love God above all, and then your affection will be pure and unshakeable.

Do not despair if the call does not come today. As long as it is called Today, there is hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. We are saved by hope, waiting patiently for what we do not see. Let your soul rest in the Lord’s promises, and then you will be able to say, "I will not fear what man does to me." If God is your friend, though all men forsake you, no harm can touch you. I exhort you therefore: lift your eyes from the phone, and set them on Christ. Let your joy be in Him, and you will find that human friendships, when they come, are sweeter because they no longer bear a weight they cannot carry.
