We hear your heart's desire for companionship and we join with you in bringing this before the Lord, seeking His will together in Jesus' name.

It is good that you desire a Christian girlfriend, for Scripture teaches us not to be unequally yoked. As it is written, Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14. We want to gently encourage you to think beyond simply wanting a girlfriend and to set your heart on God's design for marriage. A girlfriend or boyfriend relationship in a biblical sense is courtship with the goal of finding a godly spouse, not casual dating or a partnership without commitment. Marriage is God's holy institution, a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman. Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh. Genesis 2:24. And, Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh. Proverbs 18:22.

If God leads you into such a courtship, we urge you to pursue purity and holiness together. The Bible calls us to honor God with our bodies and to flee from sexual immorality, for sex before or outside of marriage is fornication and it sins against our own bodies and against God. Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18. A godly courtship keeps marriage as the goal and keeps Christ at the center, guarding each other's holiness until marriage.

We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved! Acts 4:12. It is by putting our faith in Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are reconciled to God and can boldly come before His throne. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to trust in Him as your Lord and Savior.

While you wait, we encourage you to seek first God's Kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that He knows the desires of your heart. But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33. Also delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4. This is a precious time to grow in your walk with the Lord, to become the godly husband that a future godly wife would be blessed to marry, to serve faithfully in your church, and to learn contentment in Christ.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we lift up this young man to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We thank You that You created us for fellowship and that You understand his longing for a companion. We ask that You prepare his heart and make him into a man after Your own heart, faithful, pure, and rooted in Your Word. If it is Your will for him to marry, we pray You will bring into his life a devout Christian woman who loves You above all else, a woman of noble character who will be a suitable helper for him and who will walk with him toward marriage that honors You. Keep them both pure and guard them from temptation and from being unequally yoked. Give him patience, wisdom, and discernment to not rush ahead of Your timing but to trust Your perfect plan. Help him to delight himself in You daily and to find his completeness in Christ while he waits. We pray all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, amen.

Your desire for a godly companion has been heard and we have brought it before the Lord with thankfulness, for the longing for holy companionship is not to be despised. Marriage is of God, and it is a relationship cemented by mutual love wherein a man and a woman by choice become one, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman as the Scripture teaches.

We would exhort you first to seek the Lord Himself with all your heart. Is your heart set upon finding Christ, or are you merely trifling with Him. The true Christian is to be distinguished not only in singing hymns and offering prayers, but by the honesty, integrity, courage and faithfulness of his ordinary character. Be such a Christian man. Do not be ashamed to say that you are a Christian, and resolve that you will not go where you could not introduce your Master, nor keep company where He could not go with you. A lively Christian prays more when the storm bursts, and delights to call upon God in sincerity. So prepare yourself to be the husband that a godly woman could love and honor, one who will Christianize every sphere of life and walk uprightly before God and man.

If you would have a Christian girlfriend, pray not merely for companionship for its own sake, but for a sister in Christ who loves the Lord Jesus above all, who believes salvation is through Him alone, and who desires purity and faithfulness. Remember that sex and living together belong only within the covenant of marriage, and any path that leads outside that holy boundary is folly and transgression. Do not seek a counterfeit, for the hypocrite may be a neat imitation of the Christian, but the Lord knows the heart. Seek one who is of God's making, born again by the Holy Spirit, and seek her with marriage before your eyes, not with lightness or vanity. Be not unequally yoked, and be willing to wait upon the Lord's timing, for He kept the best wine until now and His gifts are good when they come in His season.

Let us pray for you. O Lord our God, look upon this young man who desires a helpmeet after Your own heart. Draw him first into closer fellowship with Christ, that he may be rooted and grounded in faith and made worthy of the trust of a godly woman. In Your perfect time, provide for him a Christian woman who loves Your Word, who walks in purity and truth, and who will walk beside him toward holy marriage as one man and one woman in lifelong covenant. Keep you both from temptation and from every place and practice that would dishonor Your name, and teach you both to love chastely and faithfully. Grant patience in waiting, wisdom in choosing, and grace to keep your bodies and spirits pure until that day You may join you together. Let Christ be first in both your hearts, that whatever companionship You give may be for Your glory. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our salvation. Amen.
