I said something terrible in retaliation to a comment someone made about my brother and father.My brother and father have been kind to this person but the person condemned them. I was shocked. I swore at the person and told them to go to hell. I have never said that to anyone in my life. I am ashamed and upset - I am sure things will be okay but I would appreciate help with praying about this. Please forgive me for my terrible behaviour Lord and please guide me out of this situation.

It sounds like you were hurt because these comments were unkind and unjustified.  I don't excuse what you said, however, I sense that you love your brother and father deeply and felt you had to defend their honor.  I know that by confessing your sin, God has forgiven you.  My prayer is that you will forgive yourself.  I pray too that the Lord will guide you to respond more approprately should something like this occur again. Even though the other person was wrong to have maligned your family, you too were wrong.  I ask that the Holy Spirit will give you the courage and opportunity to ask this person for forgiveness.  God wants us to be at peace with others, peace with Him and peace with ourselves.  Be blessed, friend.
