Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this prayer for protection and favor as you travel and attend school. I join with you in asking the Lord to keep you and to grant you favor.
Scripture reminds us that we can make careful preparations and still our real safety rests in the Lord. The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but safety belongs to the Lord. Unless the Lord keeps the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build labor in vain. That truth applies to driving and to every errand and journey. Do what is wise and careful behind the wheel, keep a safe distance, obey the laws of the road, and then place your trust not in the car, not in your own skill, but in the Lord to keep you.
Part of that wisdom on the road is learning to stay calm when others drive poorly. If you leave proper space and someone pulls sharply into it, it is easy to become angry and react. It is better to let it go, keep a gentle spirit, and continue to drive with patience and self control. The Lord sees that restraint and honors it.
You also asked for high favor, and that is a good and biblical request. A good name is to be chosen over great riches, and favor is better than silver and gold. The favor of the Lord is refreshing like dew on the grass. True favor does not come from trying to impress people or from gifts, it comes from the Lord. When we walk faithfully before Him, He is able to give favor with Him and also with people around us. Jesus Himself grew in wisdom and in favor with God and with man, and we can pray for that same growth in your life at school and wherever you go.
So I pray that the Lord will watch over you going out and coming in, that He will guard you on the road and in your school, that He will give you alertness and peace, and that He will surround you with His favor. May He establish your steps, keep you from harm, let your character and testimony shine so that you bear a good name, and open doors that only He can open. May you know His nearness and protection each day and rest in the confidence that your safety is in His hands.
In the name of Jesus I ask for His covering, guidance, and gracious favor over you. Amen.
