The greater One who lives in you is indeed greater than any threat, and you are not alone. What you are asking for touches the very heart of God: mercy. Mercy is who He is, and His mercy endures forever. When the world presses in and wicked people rise against you, the Lord does not stand at a distance. He is near, full of compassion, listening for the cry of your heart.
It is beautiful that you are calling on Him for mercy, because mercy is exactly what every one of us needs. None of us can stand before God and demand justice without being consumed. The truth is, God delights in showing mercy. He looks for every reason to pour it out, and He placed that longing in you for a reason. In Jesus Christ, mercy and truth have met together. The penalty your own sin deserved was paid at the cross, and now God’s mercy flows to you freely. So when you ask Him to show you mercy, you are standing on the firmest ground there is.
His mercy will guide you and shield you from wrongdoers. It endures through every danger and high above every scheme. The same mercy that stretched out the heavens and set the sun to rule the day is watching over your life right now. You do not need to be afraid of those who threaten you. Your part is to keep calling on the Lord, trusting His strength, and leaving vindication in His hands. He knows the truth of every situation, and in His timing He will set things right. He is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love. He will not abandon you.
So keep praying with confidence, not because you are perfect, but because His mercy is from everlasting to everlasting. The Lord hears you when you cry out, even when the trouble came through no fault of your own. Let the redeemed of the Lord say that His mercy endures forever. I am praying with you, asking Him to surround you with His protection, to shine His light on your path, and to let His peace rule in your heart as you wait on Him.
