We hear your tired cry and we join with you in bringing this burden of congestive heart problems and the excessive fluid building up in the body before the Lord. We know how exhausting and frightening it is when the heart is struggling and the body feels so heavy and weary, and we lift you up together for healing, wisdom, and rest.
We are encouraged that you called upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that we find mercy and healing. Scripture reminds us of His compassion and power, Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases Psalm 103:2-3, and But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh Jeremiah 30:17. When we are faint and have no strength left, He gives power to the faint; and to him who has no might he increases strength Isaiah 40:29. He also sees your weariness and invites you, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28. We cling to the promise that Yahweh will sustain him on his sickbed, and restore him from his bed of illness Psalm 41:3.
We pray together for you now. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we bring our dear one before Your throne of grace. You know this heart that is laboring and the fluid that is overwhelming the body. Lord, we ask that You would touch this heart, strengthen it, and cause the excess liquid to leave the body according to Your mercy. Grant wisdom to know what to do, guide the hands and minds of the doctors and caregivers, and give clear direction for treatment, diet, and rest. We are moved by your weariness, and we would point you to Him in whom there is an abundance of healing power. It is written that He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds, and that the very leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing. A word from Him, coming home to the heart, brings healing to head and heart, conscience and affection, and can change the very life blood. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son be of good cheer your sins are forgiven you, showing that pardon and healing are joined together in His hand.
We pray for you now that the Sun of Righteousness may rise upon you with healing in His wings. May the Lord who has promised, A new heart also will I give you and a new spirit will I put within you, sustain your heart that is so tired, relieve the body of that which burdens it, and grant wisdom to those who care for you to know what to do. I hear how tired you are and how heavy this struggle with your heart and the excess fluid has become. The Lord knows that weariness. He does not look as people look on the outward appearance. He looks on the heart. He searches the heart and understands both the physical burden you carry and the inner cry behind it.
Scripture shows us that even David, a man after God's own heart, faced weakness and frailty in his older years when his body was failing. He was not perfect, but the direction of his heart was toward the Lord. When he failed he confessed his sin and sought God's mercy, and God forgave him. What God valued was not perfect strength but a heart that was truly after Him, a heart that desired to walk before Him with honesty and trust. That same desire in you is precious to God even when you are too tired to do what you would like to do. He counts the desire of the heart when ability and opportunity are lacking, just as He counted it good that it was in David's heart to build a house for His name even though David was not the one to build it.
You asked the Lord to tell you what to do and to take away the fluid that is burdening your body. That is a good prayer. Solomon once asked God for a wise and understanding heart to know how to walk rightly, and God was pleased with that request and gave him more than he asked. You can ask God in the same way now for wisdom, for guidance for those caring for you, and for His healing touch upon your body. He promises to keep covenant and mercy with those who walk before Him with their whole heart.
Do not set your heart upon uncertain things or put your trust in them. When needs increase, keep your heart set upon the Lord and trust in Him. As you seek Him, may the Spirit open to you the riches of His love and grace and draw you close to Himself, so that even in this hard place you can come away from fellowship with Him with your soul lifted and your heart made light by rejoicing in His goodness.
