You feel it in your very bones, the weight of a body breaking down, the torment of a stomach that will not give you rest, and a deeper dread that something foul and unseen presses hard against you. Sickness is heavy enough by itself, but when it comes dressed in the malice of those who dabble in darkness, the burden can seem beyond bearing. And yet, dear heart, you are not beyond the reach of the One who made heaven and earth. He has not turned His face away. He is not deaf to your cry, however faint it has become.
Picture for a moment the house of Simon Peter. It was a simple place, probably little better than a fisherman’s hut. Yet when Jesus crossed the threshold, the King of Glory made it a palace. But trouble was already inside. Peter’s wife’s mother lay prostrate with a great fever, her life burning out. The air was thick with sickness. And what did Jesus do? He stood where the fever was. He did not recoil. He came near, He took her by the hand, and the fever left her. So it is now with you. Your body may feel like that house, a hospital of pains and strange afflictions. But the Great Physician is not afraid to enter. He is not repelled by the severity of your need. In fact, His power is most at home where human weakness is most profound.
You speak of enemies, of black magic and destructive intent. I do not make light of such things. The Scripture is plain that we wrestle against principalities and powers. But listen: the same Jesus who healed the sick also silenced the unclean spirits. They knew who He was and fled at His word. The power of the Lord is present to heal, not to destroy. When Christ came in the flesh, He might have come with a rod of vengeance, but instead He brought salvation. His hands were not armed with an avenging iron, but stretched out in mercy. The very purpose of the Gospel is healing, the binding up of the brokenhearted, the liberating of those who are bound. And He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The malice arrayed against you is not stronger than the love that shelters you. Picture your soul hidden in the cleft of the Rock, and all the arrows of the enemy falling harmlessly at your feet. He who was nailed for you does not now leave you to the whims of darkness.
You pray for immediate healing, and rightly so. But often our Lord’s tenderness appears in the order of His work. When the paralyzed man was let down through the roof, Jesus saw his faith and said first, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” That was the deeper miracle, the one that touched the root of every ill. Then, to show His authority, He commanded the man to rise and walk. Your physical agony is real, but do not overlook the sweet word that applies to you even now: “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” If you are in Christ by faith, your iniquity is pardoned, and that is the foundation on which all other mercies rest. The leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations, and they are not reserved only for heaven, their virtue reaches into this present shadowed life. Your Healer knows the exact medicine your soul and body require.
I know how hard it is when relief delays. The pain gnaws, and the mind replays every threat. In such hours, it is tempting to demand a sign, a sudden feeling, a dramatic turn. But the sealing of the Spirit comes after you have believed, not before. You have already called upon the name of Jesus, and His bare Word is enough, even when every sense screams otherwise. Your faith may feel as small as a mustard seed, let it lay hold of Him who cannot lie. He has said, “I am the Lord who heals you.” He has promised never to leave or forsake you. That simple promise is a love letter, even if it arrives in a black-edged envelope. Hold it tight in the dark. The Father’s hand is clasping yours, and He will lead you through.
Because He lives, you shall not be overcome of evil. Not because you are strong, but because He has already overcome. Your cry reaches the throne, and the Holy Spirit intercedes within you with groans too deep for words. The day will come when you look back on this season and see that the very waters which threatened to drown you were the path God used to show His mighty deliverance. Until then, lean hard upon your Savior.

Lord Jesus, our blessed Physician, come now into this house of suffering. You see the body racked with pain, the stomach in turmoil, the dread of unseen adversaries. Speak the word, and drive out every foul thing that lurks. Command healing into every corrupted part, and let the fever of fear give way to the cool peace of Your presence. Stand between Your child and those who would do them harm; let them be as stone walls surrounding a garden, and let no evil root spread here. Forgive every sin, and draw this trembling heart close to Your wounded side. Give faith to rest in Your bare word, even when relief has not yet touched the senses. May this dear soul be found in that day, not as one who was overwhelmed, but as one who overcame through the blood of the Lamb. We ask all in Your mighty name, amen.
