Beloved of All
Your desire to come back to Jesus is itself a work of His grace in your heart, and He hears that prayer with compassion. He does not turn away anyone who comes to Him with an honest and hungry heart. Jesus said that whoever comes to Him He will not cast out, no matter how far you feel you have drifted or how long you have been held by other things.
It is possible to know about Jesus, to have met Him before and even to believe He is the Son of God, and still not be walking with Him in full commitment. There is a difference between knowing Him from a distance and following Him closely as His disciple. What He invites you into now is that full return, a real turning. In Scripture that turning is called repentance. It is not just feeling sorry, it is a change of direction, a death to the old life and the beginning of a new one. Like going down into the water and rising again, it means leaving the past behind and walking in newness of life. True repentance will show itself in fruit, in a changed life that follows the change of heart.
Know that Jesus is willing. When a man with leprosy came to Him, who by law was not even supposed to come near, and asked if He was willing to make him clean, Jesus answered that He was willing and He even reached out and touched him. Though the law said not to touch such a person, Jesus touched him and made him clean. That is His heart toward you now. He sees you, He is willing to forgive, to cleanse, and to heal the brokenhearted, to set free those who feel captive and bruised. Satan will whisper that you have failed too much and that God does not want you, but that is a lie. The Lord who loves you corrects you and calls you back because He loves you, and His call to repent is an invitation of love.
If you will turn to Jesus Christ now and turn away from what has held you, He will forgive. Your sins can be blotted out and remembered no more. The old things can pass away and all things can become new. He is alive today and His ministry has not ended. He is present to continue His work in you, to baptize you and fill you with His Holy Spirit, and to be with you always. He reveals Himself to those who seek Him with an open heart.
So come to Him just as you are, kneel before Him as that man did, and tell Him plainly what you have told us. Confess that you have drifted and ask Him to forgive you and take your life again. Trust that His blood alone saves, and ask Him to lead you from this day forward.
I pray for you now, that the Lord will give you grace to turn fully to Him, that He will wash you and make you clean, heal what is broken in you, break every hold that has kept you, and fill you with His Spirit. May you know with assurance that you are forgiven and that you are His, and may He make you new and give you strength to walk with Him day by day in Jesus name.
