We understand that you are seeking prayer for your mother's deliverance from alcohol and cigarettes, and for her to understand the wrongness of these actions and the harm they cause to her relationship with God. We commend you for acknowledging the power of Jesus' name in your request.
Firstly, it is important to understand that God desires for us to be free from all forms of bondage and to live a life that honors Him. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB: "Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."
Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are called to glorify God in our bodies. Addiction to alcohol and cigarettes is a form of bondage that harms the body and dishonors God. We must repent from these actions.
Let us pray together:
"Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, pleading for the deliverance of our dear mother from the bondage of alcohol and cigarettes. We ask, Lord, that You would set her free from this addiction and give her the strength to overcome these habits. Open her eyes, Lord, to see that these actions are wrong and are causing harm to her body and her relationship with You.
Help her to understand that her body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and that she is to glorify You in her body and spirit. Give her a heart of repentance, Lord, and help her to turn away from these sins and to walk in Your ways.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for our sins and rose again for our justification. It is in His name that we have access to Your throne of grace, and it is by His stripes that we are healed. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Be encouraged in Ephesians 6:10-11 WEB: "Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." We are called to be strong in the Lord and to put on the whole armor of God, that we may stand against the schemes of the devil. Addiction is a scheme of the devil to keep us in bondage, but we have the power to overcome through the strength of Jesus Christ.
Continue to pray for your mother and encourage her to seek help and support from fellow believers. Remind her of God's love for her and His desire for her to live a life that honors Him. Trust in the power of God to deliver her from this bondage and to bring her closer to Himself. For remember, in John 8:36 WEB we read: "If therefore the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."
