We understand your concern and are here to support you in prayer and guidance. We commend you for acknowledging the power of Jesus' name in your request, as it is only through Him that we have access to God. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus," 1 Timothy 2:5 WEB.
Firstly, we want to address the issue of addictions, as it is a serious bondage that can harm not only the body but also our relationship with God. "Don't you know that you are a temple of God, and that God's Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him; for God's temple is holy, which you are." 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 WEB.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up the mother of the one who has submitted this request. Lord, we plead for Your divine intervention in her life, that You may set her free from the bondage of alcohol and cigarettes. We pray that You will give her the strength and wisdom to understand that these things are not Your will for her life and that they are causing harm to her body, which is Your temple.
Lord, we also pray that You will open her eyes to see that these actions are hurting You and her relationship with You. May Your Holy Spirit convict her heart and lead her to repentance and complete surrender to You.
We pray for her child, that You will give them peace, wisdom, and guidance as they support their mother in this journey. Help them to be a light that guides their mother to You, Lord.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue praying fervently for your mother, reminding her of God's love and His power to set her free. "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective." James 5:16 WEB.
Lastly, we want to encourage you to be patient and loving towards your mother. Change may not happen overnight, but with God, all things are possible. "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also forgave you." Ephesians 4:32 WEB. Also, be alert to how she spends her time and with whom as bad friends and associates may need to be abandoned.
