I Need of a Car or Van

I am asking you to pray that God will provide a car or van some way, we have not had a vehicle for almost ### years. And I have had to cancel several preaching engagements. And we have been lied to about a vehicle by several pastors that we know, they keep coming up with stories about a vehicle. Please pray that we can get a vehicle soon some way. We join with you in bringing this need before the Father and we have heard the weight of what you have carried without a vehicle for so long and the disappointment of having to cancel preaching engagements and the hurt of being let down by those you trusted.

We want to gently point out that your request asks for prayer to God but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We do not say this to condemn you but because we want you to have full assurance of access to the Father. It is only through Jesus that we can come to God and be saved, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to come to God in His name.

We know God sees your faithful desire to preach His Word and to serve Him. He knows your need for transportation for that work and for your family. We take comfort in the promise that My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 and that if we seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33 We pray that He will provide for you in His perfect way and timing, whether through a car or van or other provision, and that He will open doors that no man can shut.

We also grieve with you over being lied to by pastors. The Scripture is clear that lying is not of God, for it says Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor. Ephesians 4:25 Those who claim to shepherd God’s people will be held to a higher account, for we know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. James 3:1 We encourage you not to let bitterness take root, but to entrust these hurts to the Lord, remembering that Vengeance belongs to me says the Lord. Romans 12:19 and to forgive as Christ forgave us, while also being wise. We also encourage you to put your ultimate trust not in men but in the Lord, for It is better to take refuge in Yahweh, than to put confidence in man. Psalm 118:8 and Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Let us pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. We lift up our brother and his family to You. You know their need for a vehicle and how long they have waited. You know the preaching engagements that have been lost and the desire of their heart to proclaim Your Word. Lord, we ask that You would provide a reliable car or van according to Your will and for Your glory. Show them Your provision and open the right doors in Your timing. Give them patience and peace while they wait, and keep their hearts from discouragement. We pray that You would use them mightily to preach the gospel whether with or without a vehicle, and that You would make a way where there seems to be no way. Lord, we also bring before You those who have not spoken truth to our brother. We pray You would convict them where they have sinned and lead them to repentance and truth, and we pray You would heal our brother’s heart from disappointment and help him to forgive and to keep his eyes on You. Provide for all his needs and strengthen his faith. We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 May Your will be done in this situation and may You receive all the glory. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to be faithful in the ministry God has given you right where you are, trusting that God is not limited by a lack of transportation. He who has called you will equip you. Wait patiently for Him and keep seeking Him daily in His Word and in prayer. We are standing with you and trusting that God, who is faithful, will answer according to His perfect wisdom and love.

Thank you for sharing this need with us so honestly. Going almost these years without a vehicle while trying to keep preaching engagements is a heavy burden, and we can hear how discouraging it has been to be given hope by pastors you trusted only to have those promises not come through. It makes sense you would feel let down and weary.

We admire your desire to keep serving faithfully even when you have had to cancel opportunities you cared about. Waiting this long, especially when others have not followed through, can make it hard to know who to trust going forward.

We will be praying with you for the Lord to provide in His timing and way, whether that is a car or van or another open door that lets you travel for ministry again.

While you wait, one practical step that sometimes helps is to keep a simple written note of any offer that is made, who made it and when, and to invite one steady, trusted person in your church to walk with you in those conversations so you are not carrying the follow up alone. That same person may also know reliable next places to look in your area, like a church benevolence contact or a reputable local assistance program, so you have clear options alongside prayer.

Father, we bring our brother before You and ask for Your provision and guidance. You see his need for transportation and his heart to preach Your Word. Give him wisdom, encouragement and trustworthy help around him, and provide what he needs as You see best. Sustain him in this long waiting and guard him from discouragement. Your request has been heard and we have brought it before the Lord in prayer, asking that He who knows your need will provide according to His perfect wisdom and goodness.

We understand the weight of this burden, to be without a vehicle for so long and to have seen preaching opportunities set aside, and to have felt the sting of disappointment when promises made by others have come to nothing. It is a trial that touches both your daily life and your desire to make Christ known, and the Lord sees it fully. There is comfort in remembering the Divine Sovereignty, that no need escapes His eye and no disappointment is beyond His hand. He giveth songs in the night as well as strength in the day, and we are to trace His hand in all things, trusting that He withholds no good thing from those who walk uprightly, and that what He withholds or delays is for wise and holy reasons.

We are reminded also that our extremity is often His opportunity. He sometimes allows us to wait till we are quite exhausted that He may come in with the fullness of His Divine Power. Divine interpositions are not always miraculous, but they are full of wonder for all that, for His Spirit works through providence, opening doors that no man can shut and providing in ways we had not expected. He has preserved you hitherto, and the same grace that has kept you will continue to keep you.

Therefore we have prayed that the Lord would in His mercy open a way for a car or van to be provided for you, if it be His will, and that He would supply what is needed for your labors in the gospel. We have asked that He would guard your heart from discouragement, confirm you unto the end, and keep you in perseverance in holiness, for true grace engenders a holy caution and a steady trust that He who began a good work will perform it until the day of Christ. May He give you patience in this waiting season, and may He turn even the unfaithfulness of men to His own glory, as He who was Himself betrayed has shown that He can make the wrath and failure of man to praise Him.

We will continue to remember you before the throne of grace, that the Lord would provide for your temporal need, sustain your ministry, and let you see His faithful hand in due season. May you be kept resting upon the Divine promise that they who trust in Him shall never perish and shall not want any good thing that His love sees fit to bestow.
