We hear your cry for comfort and peace after such a disturbing nightmare, and we stand with you in the authority of Jesus Christ to rebuke every tormenting spirit that seeks to steal your rest and peace. The enemy comes only to kill, steal, and destroy, but Jesus came that you may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We take our stand on the truth that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).
First, we rebuke the spirit of fear that may be trying to take root in your heart. God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We command every tormenting spirit, every spirit of nightmares, and every spirit of unrest to leave you now in the mighty name of Jesus. We plead the precious blood of Jesus over you, your mind, your heart, and your home, declaring that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
We pray that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). May the Lord Himself surround you with His presence, filling you with His comfort and assurance. We pray that as you close your eyes again, your sleep will be sweet and undisturbed, just as Proverbs 3:24 promises: "When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet."
Father, we ask that You cleanse this dear one’s mind of every residue of fear, violence, or unrest. Renew their mind according to Your Word, that they may have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, who is the Comforter, the Helper, and the Guide. Let them feel Your nearness in this moment, knowing that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
We also encourage you to meditate on Scripture before you sleep again. Speak aloud Psalm 23: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul." Let these words be a balm to your soul and a shield against any further attacks of the enemy.
Lastly, we remind you that the name of Jesus is above every name, and at His name, every knee must bow (Philippians 2:9-10). You have the authority in Christ to resist the devil, and he must flee from you (James 4:7). Stand firm in that authority, and do not let fear take hold. You are deeply loved by the Father, and He is with you always. Rest in His promises tonight and always. Amen.
