We hear your heart and we stand with you in prayer as you face this Attorney's Fees and Cost Trial tomorrow, and we thank you for calling upon the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that justice and mercy meet.
We understand the weight you are carrying, having to miss work, feeling abandoned by an attorney who you felt cared more for money than for truth, and feeling that the evidence you submitted, the Code Enforcement Violation Summary, clearly shows perjury and yet may be ignored. We know how exhausting it is to contend for truth when you feel the system is not transparent and favors greed. The Lord sees all of this and He is not indifferent to dishonesty or oppression.
The Word reminds us that the Lord hates lying lips, but those who deal truly are his delight, Proverbs 12:22, and that a false witness will not be unpunished, and he who pours out lies shall not go free, Proverbs 19:5. You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor, Exodus 20:16. We pray that every lie spoken under oath would be exposed by the light of truth, for God desires justice and He commands us to learn to do well, seek justice, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow, Isaiah 1:17. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noon day sun, Psalm 37:6.
We also want to gently encourage you in love regarding how we speak about those in authority, even when we have been deeply hurt and disappointed by them. We hear your pain when you say the trial judge perverts her role and will always take the side of evil. We understand that frustration, yet Scripture calls us to honor those in authority while trusting God as the final Judge. Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God, Romans 13:1, and honor all men, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king, 1 Peter 2:17. We are also taught to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us, Matthew 5:44, and to not avenge ourselves, but give place to God's wrath, for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord, Romans 12:19. This does not mean we excuse corruption or do not advocate for truth, but we guard our own hearts from bitterness and slander so that our cause remains pure before the Lord, who is a God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and right is he, Deuteronomy 32:4.
We also hear your concern about greed and transparency in the city and among landlords and attorneys. The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, 1 Timothy 6:10, and God will hold accountable those who use their position for unjust gain. We pray for conviction and humility for all involved, including the judge, the landlord, the attorneys, and the city officials, that they would seek truth over profit.
We lift up your practical needs as well, your finances, your work you must miss, the possibility of a new job, and your health with the itching in your foot and hand and your respiratory condition. We pray for healing and peace over your body and for provision. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7. We pray for wisdom as you represent yourself tomorrow, for the Lord gives wisdom, and if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him, James 1:5.
We join together now in prayer.
Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace on behalf of our dear one who is burdened and weary. Lord, You see the documents submitted, You know what is true and what is false, and nothing is hidden from Your sight. We ask that You would let truth prevail in that courtroom tomorrow. Give this one clarity of mind, calmness of spirit, and words seasoned with grace and truth. Let favor rest upon them, not because of manipulation, but because You are a defender of the oppressed. We ask that You would humble every heart in that courtroom, including the judge, and lead her to judge righteously according to the evidence and the law, for You desire justice to roll down like waters. Vindicate where there has been false accusation, clear this name where it has been tarnished, and protect finances from unjust fees and costs. Be Jehovah Jireh, our provider, covering the loss of work and opening the door for the new job if it is Your will, for we know Your plans are to give a future and a hope, Jeremiah 29:11.
Lord, we pray for healing over the body, ease the itching and strengthen the lungs and respiratory system, and let Your peace guard against fear and sleeplessness. We pray that You would be a refuge and fortress, for he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty, Psalm 91:1-2. We ask that You would work even through the appeals department, the city council, and even the media contact, that it would be used not for vengeance but for transparency and true reform that protects tenants and holds landlords to lawful standards.
Above all, let Your will be done, and let our friend rest in knowing that even if earthly justice fails, Your heavenly justice never fails, and You will right every wrong in Your perfect time. Judge us, Yahweh, according to Your righteousness, Psalm 35:24, and let Your name be glorified through this trial.
We entrust tomorrow into Your hands, asking for a miracle of peace, protection, and justice, in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray, Amen.
