I have the Attorney's Fees and Cost Trial Tomorrow

Your request has been heard and we are joining you in prayer before the Lord as you face this trial tomorrow.

We understand the weight you are carrying. You have worked to bring forward documents you believe show the truth, you feel let down by an attorney who did not help you as you hoped, you must miss work, and you are going into court without counsel while feeling that the judge will not listen. It is understandable to feel anxious, weary, and in need of a miracle when so much affecting your name, your housing, and your finances seems out of your hands. We also hear your concern about your health with the itching and your respiratory condition, and your hope for a new job.

Scripture reminds us that God is not indifferent to justice. In this life we see courts and judgment seats everywhere, in homes and marketplaces and cities, and this very concern for justice among people points to the greater justice of God, whose righteousness is firm and whose right hand is full of righteousness. At the same time, earthly courts are imperfect. Even our Lord stood before judges in a hall full of tumult and injustice, and He endured being wronged without abandoning truth. When we face unfair treatment, we can bring our cause honestly before both earthly authorities and the heavenly Judge who sees all that is hidden, including what is done under oath.

Trials also have a purpose that we do not always see at first. God allowed Abraham to be tested not because God needed to learn about him, but to make his faith manifest. In the same way, seasons of pressing and opposition can reveal and strengthen endurance, not because God has forsaken us, but because He is forming us and calling us to trust Him more deeply. This does not make the hardship less painful, but it reminds us that our true home and treasure is not in clay or gold or even in winning a dispute, but in heaven, and that God will not overlook what is just.

So we pray for you now in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and access to the Father.

We ask God to grant you favor and clarity tomorrow, to give the judge a humble and attentive heart to weigh the evidence fairly, and to let truth be clearly seen. We ask Him to protect your name, to guard your finances, and to provide for your daily needs, including work and the possibility of a new job, according to His wisdom and mercy. We pray for protection over every area of your life and for peace that steadies you even as you wait for an outcome. We also pray for your body, for healing and relief from your respiratory condition and other discomfort, and we encourage you to continue to seek appropriate medical care for those symptoms.

We pray that whatever the earthly ruling, you would know that God Himself is your vindication and that ultimate justice rests with Him. May He help you to continue to act with honesty and integrity, to speak truth without hatred, and to mingle a desire for justice with mercy, leaving vengeance to Him while you seek what is right through lawful and peaceful means. May He give you wisdom for next steps, including any appeal, and provide godly counsel and support around you.

We will continue to lift you up, asking that the Lord who sees and judges righteously will work for your good, sustain you in this trial, and lead you in His will. In Jesus Christ's name we pray, Amen.

I have read your request and hear how heavy this burden is. You have worked to bring forward what you believe are true documents, you feel you were misled by someone who was supposed to help you, you must miss work and face a court without counsel, you are carrying financial pressure and concern about your health, and you long for your name to be cleared and for what is true and right to be seen.

Scripture is honest about what you are experiencing. It says that in human courts truth can fall in the street and fairness cannot enter, that justice can stand far off and judgment can be turned backward. Where justice should always be found, it is often not assured. Part of the reason is that earthly judges are not all knowing. A person can place a hand on the Bible, take an oath, and still tell a lie, and the court may not be able to discern it. Attorneys at times are moved more by money than by right, and judges at times are moved by convenience or by a desire to favor one side or to yield to pressure, rather than by true justice. That is not true justice at all. God is a God of righteousness and justice, and He desires that righteousness prevail. When it is perverted, the foundations are shaken. Yet the Bible also says there is a higher court. God sees what was done in secret, He knows who has spoken the truth and who has not, and He has appointed a day when He will judge the world in righteousness and in truth. No lie escapes Him.

That higher court is open to you now through Jesus Christ. In the picture of the temple, there were outer courts and then an inner court reached by steps going up to a higher level, and only those who were cleansed and clothed rightly could enter to make offering. In Christ you have been given access to draw near to God Himself, to ascend into His presence even while an earthly court may fail you. He invites you to bring your case before Him.

Your trial is also a trial of faith, and the Lord does not treat that lightly. The Scriptures say not to think it strange when you face a fiery trial, as though something unusual were happening, because God uses that fire to refine what is precious. The testing of faith is more precious than gold that perishes, because it produces endurance. The same God who is described as a consuming fire is with you in the fire to bring you through. One psalmist in deep distress said, I will yet praise Him. You can praise Him even now, not because the situation is good, but because He is good and He has promised to be with you in every trial and to bring you through to victory in Him.

I also hear the financial fear in your prayer. Missing work, facing fees and costs, waiting for a possible new job, feeling that greed drives much of what you see. The Bible speaks of believers who faced great affliction and deep poverty and yet had abundance of joy because their joy came from their relationship with God, not from their circumstances. God is not poor and He is not in need of being bailed out. He owns all things and He knows your needs for provision, for work, and for protection of what you have. You can ask Him for daily bread, for wisdom in stewardship, and for peace that does not depend on the outcome of a hearing.

I will pray for you, asking God to do what only He can do. I pray that He will cause the truth to be made plain, that any falsehood will be exposed, and that the judge will act with fairness, humility, and a desire for what is right rather than for convenience or favor. I pray that He will protect your name, your finances, and your health, and that He will give you wisdom to act peaceably, honestly, and calmly, leaving vengeance to Him and seeking to live at peace as far as it depends on you. I pray for your body, for the itching and breathing concerns you mentioned, that God will give you healing and strength and guide you to proper care. I pray for provision through work, and that if a new job is His will, He will open that door.

Even as you ask for favor in this hearing and for the eviction matter to be handled justly, remember that ultimate vindication rests with the Lord. Whether the earthly decision comes quickly or slowly, whether it goes as you hope or not, God has not abandoned you. Trust His perfect justice and His perfect timing, continue to walk in truth, and keep your hope in Christ alone, through whom alone we are saved and by whom we have peace with God.

Father, in the name of Jesus, I bring this dear one before You. You see every document, every word spoken under oath, every motive of every heart. Let truth be revealed and let what is right be done. Give wisdom and calmness in the courtroom, provide for financial needs, protect health, and guard this life from fear. Grant favor as You will, and above all grant faith to trust You and to yet praise You. May Your will be done and may Your name be glorified. Amen.
