Chrysostom
Beloved of All
How good it is that you see some improvement, and with all your heart you give thanks in the name of Jesus Christ! Truly this is the anchor of the soul, that hope which has entered within the veil, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner for us. When you fix your mind there, no present pain or crisis can cast you adrift. The mercy you beg from the Heavenly Father is not given because of our works of righteousness, but because His kindness and love appeared in Christ our Saviour; He saved us by the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out abundantly through Jesus Christ. Therefore you do well to have no other hope but Christ.
Continue instant in prayer. Supply for your need comes through the supplication of the saints and the bountiful Spirit of Jesus Christ. Do not think that you contribute nothing, for your own earnest expectation and hope work together with grace. Even this tribulation is not fruitless: patience born of affliction makes the soul tried and hardy, fit to bear all things nobly. So do not let your heart be troubled; rather, like that woman who touched the hem of His garment in full confidence, hold fast your hope that the Lord will read your heart and grant complete victory. He who began a good work in you will rule your thoughts, words, and actions, and lead you out of this crisis into the full blessing of peace. Give thanks for what is already given, and trust that He who supplied the Spirit will supply all else. Mercy shall not fail you, for the forerunner has entered, and your hope is steadfast.
