I have five kids. I hurt my back 2 years ago, have been off work since, and we have drained our savings, retirement, and emergency fund. Last month, someone pulled out in front of my wife, and our van was totaled. The insurance company is offering us around $1,000 to compensate us. Our van had a lot of miles but was very dependable. I was looking over our other vehicle yesterday; the mechanic had told us not to take it out of town. It looks nice but isn't mechanically sound. I had to add one gallon of antifreeze to it (that is a really bad sign). Our church has been made aware of our problems but has ignored us for the past two years as our giving (tithe) has dropped off. Last week, one of the church leaders asked my wife how things were going, and she said not so good. The leader looked at her and walked away. We know this isn't God, but we are hurting. We need a vehicle, a job, healing, and obviously a new church. Just to top it off, this week someone let us borrow their car to look for a car, and someone threw a beer at us going down the road, trying to shatter our windshield.

Holy God and loving Father, I consciously place my fears, worries, anxieties, and burdens in your hands. I know that I have so little power to change the outcome of these events and I trust that you will work what is pleasing to you, and best for me, out of these situations. Forgive me for my anxious thoughts and for letting my own worry become an idol that robs you of my full trust. Strengthen and empower me to trust you more by the power and presence of your Spirit.
