I have debt to pay

We hear your cry and we carry your burden before the Lord with you, for we know the weight of debt and the anxiety of providing for children alone while without work is very heavy. We want you to know that God sees you and your children and He cares deeply for your needs.

The Scripture reminds us that God is a defender and provider for those in vulnerable places. Psalm 68:5 says A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in his holy habitation. And Philippians 4:19 promises My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Jesus himself taught us not to be consumed with anxiety about provision but to trust our Father, for Matthew 6:33 says But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. We also take to heart Philippians 4:6-7 which says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We want to encourage you with both spiritual and practical counsel. God most often provides through diligent work and wise stewardship, and He gives us ability and opportunity as we seek Him. Deuteronomy 8:18 reminds us it is God who gives power to get wealth, and Proverbs 21:5 says The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty. Romans 13:8 teaches Owe no one anything, except to love one another, and so we encourage you not to take on more debt to pay debt, nor to seek immediate money through gambling, predatory loans, or any dishonest means, but to seek godly help. We encourage you to bring your full financial picture to the Lord in prayer, to make a simple budget listing what is truly owed, to contact creditors honestly to ask for payment plans or hardship help, to seek local help through a Bible believing church benevolence ministry, and to actively seek work or assistance through community resources while trusting God daily. James 1:5 says If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and he will be given to him, and we pray God will give you wisdom for each step.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and have our prayers heard. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To be saved we must believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died for our sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name we pray, and we invite you to put your complete trust in Him not only for financial provision but for eternal life and daily peace.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear mother to You. You know her name, You know the exact amount of debt that weighs on her, You know she is without work and carrying the responsibility for her children alone. Lord, have mercy and show Your provision. Open doors for honest work and for help that is upright in Your eyes. Give her wisdom to steward what little she has, favor with creditors, and peace that guards her heart from fear. Provide for her daily bread and for her children, and let her see Your hand supplying her needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Draw her close to Yourself, let her seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, and strengthen her faith to trust You one day at a time. If she has not yet fully trusted Jesus as Savior and Lord, we pray she will call upon Him now and be saved. We ask that You turn this trial into a testimony of Your faithfulness. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

We hear how much pressure you are under right now, trying to provide as a single mother without work while a large debt is weighing on you. Needing that amount so quickly would leave anyone feeling overwhelmed and stretched thin, and we want you to know we are standing with you and remembering you in prayer.

You do not have to sort all of this out alone or all at once. One steady next step that has helped others in a similar place is to sit down with a trusted financial counselor who can look at the whole picture with you. In many cities there are nonprofit consumer credit counseling bureaus and local churches or community agencies that offer free or low cost help to build a budget, explore a realistic repayment plan with creditors, and connect you with employment and assistance resources. Just having a clear plan in place can bring some steadiness while you make the sacrifices needed to move forward. If you have a pastor, family member, or caseworker you trust, consider inviting them into the conversation so you have support as you take those next steps.

You are carrying a lot with love for your family, and taking one faithful step at a time is enough for today.

Father, we lift this mother to You. You see her needs, her responsibilities, and her heart to do what is right. Give her wisdom for each decision, provision for daily needs, open doors for work, and peace as she waits. Guard her from hopelessness and surround her with caring, practical help. In Jesus name, amen.

Your burden has been heard and we have brought it before the Lord with you. To be without work and to bear the weight of so great a debt while caring for children alone is a sore trial, and He who numbers the hairs of your head knows the full weight of it.

We would first remind you of a greater debt than any sum of money. We owed to the justice of God a debt we could never pay, though we should swelter in pain forever. But Christ has more than paid that debt in His own body on the tree, and has bought pardon and a perfect righteousness for all who trust in Him. If you have fled to Him by faith, your sin debt is receipted by His loving hands, and you are free before God. Because He has paid the greater debt, you may trust Him with this lesser one. He who bore your curse will not forget your cry for daily bread.

You tell a little child to go down a lonely lane on a dark night and the child says, I do not want to go there. But if the mother says, I will go with you, the child says, I will go anywhere with you. So go with your God through this dark lane. You are not alone. Though the pressure for this sum, this two million, feels immediate and overwhelming, the Lord has made provision even when His people did not know it was within reach. As He provided for starving Samaria, so He is able to open doors for you that you cannot yet see, whether by honest work, by the kindness of others, or by the counsel and help of His people.

The Church is a mother, a tender and affectionate nursing mother to her offspring, and we urge you not to bear this alone. Make your need known to faithful pastors and to the church where you meet, that they may pray with you, counsel you in stewardship, help you seek lawful work, and walk with you in dealing honestly with those to whom you owe. Agree with your adversary quickly and deal truthfully in all things, keeping a single eye upon Christ, living for Him with a single purpose, that your life may be clear before God and man.

We pray for you now. O Father, look upon this mother in her need. Thou knowest her want of work and the debt that presses upon her. Provide for her and her children according to Thy wisdom and mercy. Open a way for honest employment, give her favor with those who hold her debt, grant her wisdom to steward what Thou providest, and keep her from despair. Above all, let her know that her soul debt is paid in Christ, and give her simple faith to lean upon Thy hand day by day. Supply her needs, quiet her heart, and let her prove Thy nearness in this trial. In the name of Jesus our Redeemer we ask it. Amen.

Cast your care upon Him, seek Him daily in His Word and in prayer, be diligent as opportunity is given, and trust the Lord to lead you step by step.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
