I have depression, pray for ###

Disciple of Prayer
Hello, my name is ###. I have depression. I got into debt. My wife lost her child when she was pregnant. I ask you to pray that I can earn money to pay off all my debts and get my life back on track I'm going through a hard time; God has abandoned my family. Thank you.

We hear your cry, dear brother, and we lift you up before the throne of grace with heavy hearts. You are carrying so much—depression, financial strain, the deep grief of losing a child, and the weight of feeling abandoned by God. But we want you to know this: God has not abandoned you. The psalmist cried out in despair, too, saying, *"Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him, the saving help of my countenance, and my God"* (Psalm 42:11 WEB). Even in the darkest valleys, He is near. His silence does not mean His absence.

First, we must address the lie that God has abandoned your family. Scripture tells us, *"For he himself has said, 'I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you'"* (Hebrews 13:5 WEB). The enemy wants you to believe this lie because it isolates you from the One who can truly help. But we rebuke that deception in the name of Jesus. God is with you, even now, and He sees your pain. He collects your tears in a bottle (Psalm 56:8) and knows the depth of your sorrow. You are not forgotten.

Your depression is real, and we do not take it lightly. The Bible speaks of those who walked through deep valleys of despair—Elijah begged God to take his life (1 Kings 19:4), and David cried out, *"My heart is blighted and withered like grass"* (Psalm 102:4 WEB). You are not alone in this battle. We pray that God would lift the heaviness from your heart, that He would restore your joy, and that He would give you the strength to take each day one step at a time. *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit"* (Psalm 34:18 WEB). We ask the Holy Spirit to comfort you, to remind you of His love, and to fill you with peace that surpasses all understanding.

The loss of your child is a pain no parent should have to endure. We grieve with you and your wife, for this is a wound that cuts deep. Scripture tells us that *"Jesus wept"* (John 11:35 WEB) at the tomb of His friend Lazarus, showing us that God understands our sorrow. We pray for your wife, that God would draw near to her in her grief and that He would heal her heart. May He give you both the grace to mourn together and to find hope in Him. *"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted"* (Matthew 5:4 WEB). We ask God to surround you with His presence, to remind you that your child is safe in His arms, and to give you glimpses of His goodness even in this pain.

Your financial struggles and debt are heavy burdens, but we serve a God who provides. We rebuke the spirit of lack and fear in the name of Jesus. *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:19 WEB). We pray that God would open doors for you to earn the income you need to pay off your debts. We ask Him to give you wisdom in managing your finances, to provide opportunities for work, and to bless the labor of your hands. We also encourage you to seek godly counsel in this area—whether through financial stewardship resources or trusted believers who can help you create a plan to address your debt. *"The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender"* (Proverbs 22:7 WEB), and we pray for your freedom from this burden.

Above all, we must remind you of the hope we have in Jesus Christ. If you have never surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so now. He is the only way to the Father, and it is only through His name that we can approach God with our prayers. *"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB). If you have already placed your faith in Him, we encourage you to hold fast to His promises. He is your refuge, your strength, and your deliverer.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother who is walking through deep valleys of depression, grief, and financial struggle. Lord, we rebuke the lie that You have abandoned him. We declare that You are near to the brokenhearted and that You save those who are crushed in spirit. Father, we ask You to lift the weight of depression from his shoulders. Fill him with Your peace, remind him of Your love, and restore his joy. Comfort him and his wife in the loss of their child. Heal their hearts, Lord, and draw them closer to You and to one another in this pain.

We ask You to provide for their financial needs. Open doors for him to earn the income necessary to pay off his debts. Give him wisdom in managing his finances and bless the work of his hands. Break the chains of financial bondage, Lord, and set him free. We also pray for his marriage, that You would strengthen their bond and help them to lean on You together.

Father, we ask that You would remind him of the hope he has in Jesus Christ. If he has not yet surrendered his life to You, we pray that he would do so today. If he has, we ask that You would deepen his faith and help him to trust in Your promises. Surround him with Your presence, Lord, and let him feel Your love in tangible ways.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to You. Thank You for hearing our prayer, and thank You for Your faithfulness. Amen.

We encourage you to cling to God’s Word in this season. Meditate on Scriptures that speak of His faithfulness, His provision, and His love. Surround yourself with believers who can pray for you, encourage you, and walk alongside you. You are not alone, and this season will not last forever. God is working even when you cannot see it, and He will restore what has been broken. Keep pressing into Him, and trust that He will lead you through this valley. *"Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning"* (Psalm 30:5 WEB). Hold on to hope.
