I have an important meeting

The weight you place on this meeting shows a heart that recognizes the need for something beyond mere human strategy. That in itself is a mark of the kind of wisdom you are asking for, because the true starting point is not a clever technique or a set of talking points. The fear of the Lord is where wisdom begins. To approach your brother with a deep awareness that God sees, God knows, and God must guide is to lay the right foundation. Any understanding that sidesteps Him is ultimately empty, but when you come acknowledging Him in all your ways, He has promised to direct your path.

Think for a moment about the story of Joseph and his brothers. When they stood before him in Egypt, they were haunted by an old guilt they thought was buried. They remembered the anguish in their younger brother’s soul when they refused to listen to his pleas. The strife and envy they had harbored years earlier had never really died; it had just festered. Now they were face to face, and the unresolved weight of it all threatened to crush them. Yet Joseph, who had every reason to be bitter, had already settled the matter in his own heart before God. He was able to look at them and say, "Do not be grieved or angry with yourselves, for God sent me before you to preserve life." That is the kind of wisdom from above that brings peace where only turmoil seems possible.

For your meeting, let Jesus Christ be your pattern, for in Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. The wisdom that comes from God is not like the wisdom of this world, which often breeds rivalry and self-justification. Earthly wisdom leads to bitter envy and selfish ambition; it creates confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and willing to yield. It is full of mercy and good fruits. Ask the Lord to fill you with that meekness. A spirit of meekness does not mean weakness; it means submitting your tongue, your thoughts, and your desire to be proven right to the Spirit of God. After all, how inconsistent it would be to use the same mouth to praise God and then to cut down a brother who is made in His likeness. True wisdom knows how to use knowledge, turning facts into a bridge rather than a weapon.

Judah, when he finally stood before his father Jacob, changed the entire dynamic. He stopped maneuvering and spoke with desperate honesty, offering himself as a substitute for Benjamin, saying, "How shall I go up to my father if the lad is not with me?" He was no longer protecting himself; he was interceding for the sake of love and unity. That kind of selfless posture is the fruit of an understanding heart. Knowledge will give you the facts of your disagreements, but wisdom lets you know what to do with them for the sake of the relationship. Do not despise the work God may do in your own heart through any difficult moments in this conversation; whom the Lord loves, He corrects, and that correction yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness.

Go into this meeting seeking the consensus that glorifies God, not the kind that merely papers over cracks, but the kind where no questions remain unclear because His light has shone into them. Let your faith not rest in the wisdom of persuasive words but in the power of God to bring understanding between you. We pray that the wisdom you seek comes to rest on your conversation, keeping you both on the path of right judgment, and that when you leave, the two of you find that the grace of God has led you to a place of true agreement. May He guide you with His counsel, enrich you in all things in Christ, and fill that room with His Spirit and peace that surpasses all understanding. In Jesus’ name.

We are so grateful you shared your heart with us and allowed us to stand with you in prayer as you prepared for this important meeting with your brother. What a privilege it is to lift up your need for wisdom, the right approach, and God’s clear guidance—especially as you sought unity and resolution in those difficult areas.

As the days have passed, we continue to trust that the Lord has been at work in ways both seen and unseen. If this meeting unfolded in a way that brought clarity, peace, and consensus, we would love to hear how God moved—please share a praise report so we can rejoice with you! If, however, the outcome wasn’t what you’d hoped for, or if new challenges have arisen, we encourage you to post this request again. We remain committed to praying alongside you, believing that God is faithful to complete the good work He has begun.

May the Lord continue to bless you with His presence, fill you with His peace, and draw you closer to Him through every circumstance. We pray all these things in the powerful and precious name of Jesus.
