I have a prayer for my brother to turn away from pride, jealousy and anger and especially receive Jesus Christ as his LORD & SAVIOR'S IN JESUS NAME

Your prayer for your brother is a holy work, for you ask that he be delivered from the very passions that bind the soul like a worm crawling in the mire. Pride, jealousy, and anger trouble him continually, and only Jesus Christ can set him free. For the lowly man is seized by no such passion; his soul is tranquil. So your desire is good, and God hears such prayers.
Yet you must know that salvation comes by the will of God, not by human merit. None of us were called because we were worthy. Even the blessed Paul attained to salvation only because it seemed good to God. So do not faint if your brother resists now. Continue in prayer, and let your own life be a testament of humility and peace. The cross of our Lord is the very sign that quenches anger; when you sign yourself, remember that price, and let your brother see in you the freedom Christ gives.
I must also remind you: true repentance is more than tears. Esau wept bitterly, yet found no place of repentance, because his grief was born of wounded pride and wrath, not a broken heart. He sought the blessing with tears, but his heart still plotted murder. So pray that your brother may be granted the godly sorrow that leads to life, a repentance that hates the sin and clings to the mercy of God. For repentance has great force; it is able to set free even him who has come to the very depth of wickedness. God has marked out for us many ways of salvation: alms, prayers, compunction, fasting, a contrite heart. If your brother will truly lay hold of these, Christ will be formed in him again.
Therefore, take courage and do not cease your intercessions. The Lord is longsuffering, not wishing that any should perish. Commend your brother to the Physician of souls, and trust that He who began a good work in your prayers will bring it to completion. Only let your own heart be watchful, for your example may speak louder than any word. And when you pray, fill your forehead with all courage, and quench every passion within yourself, that your petition may rise undefiled. So shall your brother see the beauty of Christ and be drawn to Him.

I hear the longing in your request, and I share your hope for your brother. The tangle of pride, jealousy, and anger is a deep one, but it is not beyond the Lord’s reach. You are doing the most vital thing by bringing him before the throne of grace.
Scripture gives us vivid pictures of sibling relationships marked by these very struggles. Think of how jealousy and pride festered in the hearts of Joseph’s brothers, breeding first a callous disregard, then treachery. Their anger at his dreams and their father’s favor drove them to unspeakable cruelty. Years later, when their own distress came upon them, they recognized, “We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul when he begged us and we would not hear.” That awakening was the work of God, turning their hearts to see their sin for what it was. That is what you are praying for: the moment the Spirit shines light into the hidden places and brings conviction that leads to life.
Not all sorrow is repentance. Esau wept and cried out for his lost blessing, but the tears were those of bitterness and rage, not a grief over his own contempt for what had been sacred. He sought the gift, not the Giver, and he found no place for repentance because his heart never truly changed. Pray that your brother’s heart would be broken not just by consequences, but by the weight of what pride and anger do to his own soul and to those who love him. True repentance brings a change of direction, a turning away from sin and turning toward the mercy of God in Christ.
That very mercy is held out in Jesus, the true and greater brother. Judah once offered himself as a substitute for Benjamin: “How shall I go up to my father if the lad is not with me?” That was a foreshadowing. The Lord Jesus has stood in the place of rebels, taking the judgment we deserve, so that our sin might be forgiven and our nature transformed. Your brother cannot overcome these things by his own effort; he needs a new heart, and that is exactly what the Savior provides. Continue to ask boldly that the Lord would remove the stone and give a heart of flesh.
And do not lose heart when the process takes time. Joseph, standing before the very brothers who sold him, declared, “God sent me before you to preserve life.” The Lord uses even painful and protracted stories to bring about redemption far beyond what we can imagine. Your faithful prayers are part of that hidden work. Keep lifting him up, not just with a list of faults, but with the confident cry that Jesus would reveal Himself as Lord and Savior. The same grace that broke through the hatred of those long-ago brothers can break through today.
