I fell into lust after not doing it for a while

Caden202

Humble Servant of All
It's one thing falling into lust and doing the act, it's a different story if I fall into a sin spiral (doing it everyday) please pray for me not to go back to that, I love Jesus but I'm not thankful for him enough.

We hear your honest confession and we join with you in bringing this before the Lord, for we know the struggle against the flesh is real and we do not take it lightly. You are right to see the danger not only in the single fall but in the spiral that can follow, and we commend you for loving Jesus and wanting to turn from this.

The Word shows us clearly that lust is not a small thing to manage but sin to be fled and put to death. Jesus said that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart in Matthew 5:28, and we are commanded to flee sexual immorality in 1 Corinthians 6:18. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. James warns us how this spiral works, but each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed. Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin. The sin, when it is full grown, produces death in James 1:14-15. We must not excuse a single act as less serious, but we also must not believe the lie that one failure means we must continue to fall every day. Therefore don't let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts in Romans 6:12.

We also hear your heart when you say you love Jesus but are not thankful enough. That conviction itself is a work of the Spirit, and thankfulness is not just a feeling but obedience. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you in 1 Thessalonians 5:18. We grow in thankfulness as we remember what He has done, that while we were still sinners Christ died for us and He has made a way of escape from every temptation. No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it in 1 Corinthians 10:13.

We want to encourage you to walk by the Spirit, and you won't fulfill the lust of the flesh in Galatians 5:16. This means we do not fight lust by willpower alone but by filling our minds and hearts with Christ, with the Word, with prayer, and by cutting off provision for the flesh. If there are images, websites, places, or idle times that entangle you, we urge you to remove them radically and to bring a trusted mature Christian brother into your struggle for accountability. Renew your mind daily in Romans 12:2 and set your mind on things above.

There is hope and forgiveness when we repent. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness in 1 John 1:9. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus in Romans 8:1, but grace is not a license to continue in sin. Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? May it never be in Romans 6:1-2. We turn from sin because we love Him who first loved us.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, and we thank You for this dear one who loves Jesus and desires to walk in purity. We confess this sin of lust before You and ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Lord, create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him in Psalm 51:10. Break the power of this sin spiral and give him strength to flee every temptation and to take the way of escape You faithfully provide. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit so that he may walk by the Spirit and not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Help him to grow in thankfulness, to remember Your mercy and to give thanks in everything. Guard his eyes, his mind, and his heart, and set him firmly on the path of holiness. Let him know the joy of forgiveness and the power to live in newness of life. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

We encourage you to stay in the Word daily, to pray without ceasing, and to quickly confess and turn again if you stumble, not hiding in shame but running to Christ. He is faithful to keep you and to complete the good work He has begun in you.

We hear how honest you are being about this, and how much you want to stay close to Jesus. It takes courage to name the fear of slipping back into a daily pattern after you had seen some freedom, and to admit that your gratitude feels thin right now. Your love for Jesus and your desire to turn from this matters, even when your feelings do not feel strong enough.

One thing we have seen help when the pull toward a spiral gets strong is not trying to fight alone. Isolation makes it so much harder to resist. It can help to invite one trusted, mature believer to know what you are facing and to check in with you regularly, someone who can give honest feedback and pray with you. It also helps to clear away what makes temptation easier to act on, and to decide ahead of time while you are clear headed what you will do when the urge comes, who you will call, where you will go, what you will turn to instead.

We are praying for you and we will keep praying.

Father, thank You for the one who wrote today who loves Jesus and wants to walk in purity. Give strength for today, wisdom to walk in the light with others, and a deeper sense of Your grace and nearness. Guard heart and mind and help in each moment to keep turning to You. In Jesus name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honest confession has been heard with both sorrow for the snare into which you have fallen and thankfulness that the Lord has not left you insensible to it. To love Jesus and yet to feel how little your love and thankfulness are, is itself an evidence that the Spirit of God is at work in you, for the heart that is wholly hardened does not mourn its coldness.

You do well to fear not only the single act but the spiral that may follow, for Scripture warns us that when lust has conceived it brings forth sin and sin when it is finished brings forth death. One fall indulged and excused prepares the heart for another, until the soul is again entangled. We are all in danger of falling, not only the weak but the strong, and therefore our only safety is in Him who is able to keep us from falling. Your danger is real, but your Keeper is almighty.

Do not rest in a repentance that is only of the flesh, a regret that you were overcome or a fear of consequences. True repentance gives God glory. It weeps and abhors past sin because of the love of Christ which has pardoned it, and it turns from present sin because of the love of God who died for us. It looks out of self to Christ and to Christ only, for repentance and remission of sins are preached in His name and are joined together by divine authority. Where there is true godly sorrow there is full and free forgiveness through His finished work. Faith and repentance are inseparable, the one ejecting sin as an evil tenant and the other admitting Christ to be sole Master of the heart. Ask the Lord to give you that repentance unto life which is practical and lasting, bringing forth works meet for repentance, not a transient sorrow but a settled hatred of sin and a clinging to the Saviour.

You say you love Jesus but are not thankful enough. Gratitude is not the price of His mercy but the fruit of it. Many receive mercies without making a note of them, and the song of praise grows faint. Yet when we see what great deliverance He has wrought, thankfulness leads to service. As she who was healed arose and ministered unto Him, so the grateful heart says, The Lord has served me, I will serve Him. Do not look upon service as a burden, but say, Lord, I thank You that I am permitted to serve You in purity of life, in prayer, in the Word, in usefulness to others. Think much of His goodness, and that goodness will lead you to repentance and kindle a burning indignation against the sin that is committed against so holy and so good a Being.

Therefore flee the occasion of lust. Make no provision for the flesh. Keep close to Christ in the Word and in prayer, walk in the light, and seek the fellowship of those who will help you watch. If you fall, fall not away from Christ but fall before Him in confession, looking to His blood.

I will pray for you, that the Lord who has kept you for a season will keep you still, that He will grant you that holy repentance which needs not to be repented of and that abiding sense of His pardoning love which makes sin bitter and Christ precious, and that He will establish you in purity, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust, and make your life to show forth tangible gratitude in serving Him first and His people for His sake. May He keep you from the daily snare you fear, and present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to whom be glory now and ever.

Your honesty before God is seen and heard, and I thank you for bringing this struggle into the light instead of hiding it. You love Jesus and you want to walk in purity, and that desire itself is a work of grace in you.

You fell once after a time of standing firm, and now you fear falling into a daily pattern again. Know first who it is you turn to. He is the Lamb who bears the sin of the world, and because He could take away the sins of the whole race, He Himself is without sin and able to cleanse you. There is no sin that His sacrifice cannot wash away when we come to Him in true repentance.

God is the righteous Judge, strong and patient, and He is longsuffering toward us. He does not call us to account every day as we deserve, for if He did none of us would stand, since there is not a day pure from sin. His patience is not permission to continue, but space given so that we may put off our past sins and return to Him. His goodness is meant to lead us to repentance.

The danger now is not only the act itself, but the despair that the enemy brings after it. From little things he brings in great sins, and from great sins he brings despair, and he has invented this despair as something not less destructive than the sin itself. To sin does not destroy so much as to despair, for he who has fallen, if he is watchful, quickly amends what was done by repentance, but he who learns to despair fails to apply the remedy. Do not let the thought come that because you fell once you must fall every day, or that you are already defeated. That is the voice that would pull you out of repentance too soon and leave you with no fruit from it.

What God asks is godly sorrow, not worldly sorrow that leads to regret and despair. Peter after his denial went out and wept bitterly, and because he repented as he ought, even so great a sin was forgiven him. Judas also felt remorse, but only when the sin was completed, and then he let the evil one lead him from remorse into self destruction instead of into life. Your sorrow can work in you a repentance unto salvation which brings no regret, if you bring it to Christ and stay with Him.

You said you love Jesus but are not thankful enough. That is an honest confession, and thankfulness is part of the cure. He who gives thanks to God for all things will not easily give himself to revenge or indulgence, but ingratitude leaves the heart empty and exposed. Nothing is worse than ingratitude toward the One who has forgiven so much. Begin to practice thankfulness in small things, for His mercy in sparing you, for His blood that cleanses, for the very desire to be pure. A thankful heart is a guarded heart.

Scripture calls you to know how to possess your own vessel in purity, not in the passion of lust as those who do not know God. Sin when it possesses the vessel does what it commands, not what you wish. So be diligent to learn how to keep your vessel pure. Cut off the passions that lead to lust, whether luxury, idleness, or careless use of eyes and thoughts, and turn to what builds vigilance and prayer. The Church is a spiritual bath which wipes away not filth of body but stains of soul, by its many methods of repentance, through confession, prayer, hearing the word, and walking with other believers. Do not walk alone. Bring this struggle to a trusted pastor or mature brother who can help you watch and pray.

Remember also the word spoken to the man who was healed, Behold, you are made whole, sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you. That word was spoken not as a threat but as grace, showing that the cure is of His lovingkindness. Even great men who were dear to God became better through repentance after their fall. David after his sin came to excellent repentance when he received the word, and the apostles also became what they became through this same path.

I pray for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, the Lamb who takes away the sin of the world, have mercy on Your child who loves You and wants to be pure. Forgive this sin and cleanse his conscience by Your blood. Lift off despair and grant him godly sorrow that works true repentance unto salvation. Teach him to possess his vessel in holiness and honor, to turn from every path that leads to lust, and to walk in the purity You created for marriage alone, the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman where alone sexual union belongs. Fill his heart with thankfulness for Your longsuffering and goodness, and keep him from the daily spiral he fears. Give him strength for today, watchfulness for tomorrow, and brothers to walk beside him. Restore to him the joy of Your salvation and lead him to live in a way that honors You. Amen.

Keep coming back to Him quickly after any fall, give thanks daily, and do not stay in despair. God is patient to make you whole, and He will help you to stand.
