I dont want to suffer

We hear the deep anguish in your cry, "I don’t want to suffer", and our hearts ache with yours. Suffering is a heavy burden, one that none of us wish to carry, yet it is a reality in this broken world. But take heart, dear one, for you are not alone in this. The Lord sees your pain, hears your plea, and draws near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). He does not delight in your suffering, but He can use it for His purposes if you will surrender it to Him.

First, we must address the foundation of your cry. If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. There is no comfort, no peace, and no hope outside of Him. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). He is the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. If you have not confessed your sins, repented, and believed in Him, we pray that you would do so today. Salvation is a free gift, but it must be received by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Now, to your suffering. The Bible does not promise a life free from pain, but it does promise that God will be with you in it. Jesus Himself suffered greatly, betrayed, beaten, crucified, yet He endured it for the joy set before Him (Hebrews 12:2). He understands your pain because He has walked this earth and experienced it Himself. "For we don’t have a high priest who can’t be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin" (Hebrews 4:15). You can cast all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).

We must also ask: Is there sin in your life that may be contributing to your suffering? Not all suffering is a direct result of personal sin, but unconfessed sin can separate us from God’s peace and protection. "If I cherish iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me" (Psalm 66:18). We encourage you to search your heart and confess any known sin to the Lord. He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

If your suffering is physical, emotional, or spiritual, we pray that God would grant you strength and endurance. "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9). If it is relational, we pray for healing and restoration according to His will. If it is financial, we pray for provision. Whatever the source of your suffering, we stand with you in prayer, believing that God can turn your mourning into dancing (Psalm 30:11).

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear one who is crying out in pain. Lord, You see their suffering, and You collect every tear in Your bottle (Psalm 56:8). We ask that You would draw near to them, comfort them, and strengthen them in their weakness. If there is sin that needs to be confessed, reveal it to them, Lord, and grant them the grace to repent. If their suffering is a trial meant to refine their faith, give them the endurance to persevere, knowing that You are with them.

We pray against any spirit of despair or hopelessness, rebuking it in the name of Jesus. Fill this precious one with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). If they do not yet know You as Savior, we pray that they would turn to Jesus today, confessing their need for Him and receiving the gift of eternal life.

Lord, we ask that You would use this suffering for Your glory. Whether You choose to deliver them from it or walk with them through it, may they come to know You more deeply and trust You more fully. Surround them with Your love, and let them feel Your presence in tangible ways. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to hold fast to God’s promises. "And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28). This does not mean that all things are good, but that God can bring good out of even the darkest circumstances. Cling to Him, dear one. He is your hope, your strength, and your deliverer. If you are struggling with thoughts of despair or hopelessness, please reach out to someone you trust, a pastor, a Christian friend, or a biblical counselor. You do not have to walk this path alone. The Lord has placed people in your life to help bear your burdens (Galatians 6:2).

Lastly, we urge you to spend time in God’s Word. The Psalms, in particular, are filled with cries of anguish that turn to praise. Let the words of Scripture wash over you and renew your mind. "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105). Meditate on it day and night, and let it guide you through this valley.

You are loved, you are seen, and you are not forgotten. The Lord is near. Keep crying out to Him, and do not lose heart. "But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31). May you experience His peace and presence in a powerful way today.

We hear you, and we're so sorry you're in this place right now. That raw cry, "I don't want to suffer", is one we all understand at some level. It's not a theological question; it's a human plea, and God doesn't turn away from it.

When suffering presses in, sometimes the best thing anyone can do for you is simply be present. We wish we could sit with you right now, not to offer quick answers, but to let you know you're not alone. Even when it feels like God is silent, He is near. He is not afraid of your pain or your honest words.

Is there someone safe you can let in on what you're carrying? Not someone who will rush to fix it or quote verses at you, but someone who will simply be with you. Sometimes a trusted friend, a pastor, or a support group can carry part of the weight just by knowing about it. You don't have to have a plan or even the right words. Just letting another person see your struggle can loosen suffering's grip a little.

And while we know prayer can feel hard when you're barely holding on, know that we are praying for you now, and that others can pray with you even when your own words have run out.

Father, we lift up this one who is hurting and exhausted. You see the suffering that feels too heavy to bear. Draw near in ways they can sense. Give them the courage to reach out to someone safe, and surround them with steady, quiet support. In this darkness, be their strength and their hope. In Jesus' name, amen.

The cry of your heart is heard in the courts of heaven; the word is given, “Comfort ye, comfort ye my people.” Yet mark this well, comfort by itself is not enough. Were God only to lift the pain, you might soon grow wanton in your strength and forget the pit from which you were dug. Pain of body is often the lash that drives us to the bosom of Christ; if it were possible to abolish sickness and suffering, where would men go in the pride of their strength? The Lord chastens us that we may seek His face.

But this is your comfort in your affliction: His Word quickens you. It is not the letter alone, but the Spirit breathing through the promise, "I have found a ransom." Nobody would have thought of that way of deliverance from the pit of Hell through a ransom if God had not thought of it! And if He has found a ransom for your soul, will He not also deliver you in every smaller trouble? The God that helped Moses will help you. Moses sought God, and God did not forsake him; nor will He forsake you.

Take hold upon the faithful promise in prayer. Tell the Lord plainly, “Lord, help me! Lord, help me!” You may feel as timid as that poor saint who dreaded the stake, he cried out with shaking voice, yet he stood bravely in the midst of the fire, for Christ’s omniscience was his secret comfort. He knows your frame; He remembers that you are dust. Cry to Him, and you shall soon find your troubles stayed, your trials sweetly alleviated.

And lift your eyes beyond the present hour. All sorrow and suffering shall be gone; you shall forget your misery as waters that have passed away. Now hard by His cross, where we see His wounds still bleeding afresh, give yourself wholly to Him without reserve. Trust Him to help you. If you have never yet cast yourself wholly upon Christ as your ransom, do it now, for salvation from sin is the salvation He came to bring. Then, with comfort and constancy joined together, you shall not be barren or unfruitful, and you will not be weary in well-doing.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The cry "I do not want to suffer" is as old as humanity, yet consider whether the greater danger lies in the suffering itself or in what the soul becomes when it seeks only to escape. A man crushed by long sickness, as that paralytic of thirty-eight years, did not curse his day or rage at his misfortune. When Christ asked if he would be made whole, he simply stated the facts of his affliction with great mildness. He did not demand, but endured. That endurance is itself a kind of wholeness.

You see, suffering that is met with patience becomes a deep, unshakable stillness. A spark falling into the ocean is quenched and does no injury. So it is with the soul practiced in long-suffering. The unexpected blow falls, but it disturbs nothing. This is the root of all self-possession, and it is not won by avoiding the furnace but by standing in it without being consumed by rage or despair. What good does it do you if your body were whole but your spirit a storm of blasphemy and bitterness? The proud seek only to be rid of their pain so they might enjoy ease; that is cruelty dressed in the mask of self-care. But the merciful heart, the heart God loves, is pitiful and long-suffering because it knows that God Himself has been long-suffering with us first.

Do not seek merely to secure credit for having suffered, nor to escape at any cost. Instead, let your suffering drive you to the God who loves mankind, who allowed His own Son to empty Himself and become a slave for your sake. He permitted the sufferings of the faithful precisely so that through patience and the comfort of the Scriptures we might have hope. That hope is not a promise of a painless life now, but of a weight of glory being prepared. Let your prayer then not be simply "remove this," but "let me not waste this." Ask for a heart so anchored in the mercy shown to you that no wave of trial can carry it away, making you a vessel fitted not for wrath through an unimproved heart, but a vessel of mercy made worthy through a grateful and enduring love.

I hear the raw cry in your words, and I want you to know there is nothing wrong with admitting you don’t want to suffer. No one does. And no pastor has a magic formula that makes it vanish. I don’t have a simple “do this and the pain stops” answer, because the deepest help doesn’t come from a technique. It comes from a Person.

When you are in the middle of affliction, the promise is not that you will immediately understand why. The promise is that God Himself will meet you there. He is called the God of all comfort who comforts us in all our tribulation. That comfort isn’t a distant theological idea; it’s the real, sustaining presence of the Holy Spirit in the darkest hours. Think of Paul in that fourteen-day storm at sea, unable to see the sun, tossed without relief. Yet the Lord stood by him and strengthened him. The same God stands by you in your hard night. He doesn’t always explain the storm, but He does bring Himself.

Sometimes suffering does something in us that ease never could. Depth of character rarely develops apart from real pain. It drives our roots down into the faithfulness of God, like nothing else. But you don’t have to manufacture some deep spiritual lesson right now. Your part is to cry out. Notice how Paul in Romans 7 finally stopped saying “How can I change myself?” He ran out of self-help ideas and simply called for outside deliverance: “Who shall deliver me?” And the answer came: Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So when you’re at the end of your own strength, you’re exactly where that rescue can begin.

And please, don’t add to your pain by thinking your suffering means you’ve failed or that God is punishing you. That was the mistake made by those who tried to comfort Job. Your affliction isn’t a math problem where you earn points for enough faith. Faith itself is a gift, not something you generate by trying harder. If you are sick and weak, what you need is comfort, not someone telling you to just have more faith. So be gentle with yourself, and reach out for the genuine comfort that comes from the Spirit.

What I have learned is that God often comforts us in our own suffering so that later we can share that exact same comfort with someone else who is hurting. Right now, that might not feel helpful, and that’s okay. But it means the comfort you receive will not be wasted. Even if you stumble like Peter, the Lord doesn’t cast you aside; He uses even our failures to teach us mercy for others.

Right now, let’s pray with our eyes off our own weakness and onto the One who redeems. Lord, You see this precious person who does not want to suffer. You don’t despise that honesty. Wrap them in Your comfort, the comfort that only You can give. When they can’t see the sun, be their light. Deliver them from the exhausting cycle of trying to fix everything themselves, and give them the help that comes through Jesus. Quiet their heart with Your peace that is not dependent on circumstances. Do what only You can do. Amen.

We are so grateful that you entrusted us with your heartfelt prayer request, laying your fears and burdens before the Lord. It has been on our hearts to continue standing with you in faith, believing that God hears the cries of His children and is working even when we cannot see it.

If the weight of suffering has lifted in any way—if you’ve found peace, strength, or even a glimmer of hope—we would love to rejoice with you. Please share a praise report so we can give thanks together. If the struggle remains heavy, we want you to know we are still here, lifting you up before the Father. You are not alone in this. We encourage you to post your request again, and we will keep interceding on your behalf, trusting that God’s grace is sufficient and His timing is perfect.

May He draw near to you in your weakness, fill you with His comfort, and remind you of His unfailing love. We pray that you would sense His presence in new and tangible ways, and that He would give you the courage to endure with faith. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
