We hear the deep anguish in your cry, "I don’t want to suffer", and our hearts ache with yours. Suffering is a heavy burden, one that none of us wish to carry, yet it is a reality in this broken world. But take heart, dear one, for you are not alone in this. The Lord sees your pain, hears your plea, and draws near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). He does not delight in your suffering, but He can use it for His purposes if you will surrender it to Him.
First, we must address the foundation of your cry. If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. There is no comfort, no peace, and no hope outside of Him. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). He is the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. If you have not confessed your sins, repented, and believed in Him, we pray that you would do so today. Salvation is a free gift, but it must be received by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Now, to your suffering. The Bible does not promise a life free from pain, but it does promise that God will be with you in it. Jesus Himself suffered greatly, betrayed, beaten, crucified, yet He endured it for the joy set before Him (Hebrews 12:2). He understands your pain because He has walked this earth and experienced it Himself. "For we don’t have a high priest who can’t be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin" (Hebrews 4:15). You can cast all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
We must also ask: Is there sin in your life that may be contributing to your suffering? Not all suffering is a direct result of personal sin, but unconfessed sin can separate us from God’s peace and protection. "If I cherish iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me" (Psalm 66:18). We encourage you to search your heart and confess any known sin to the Lord. He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
If your suffering is physical, emotional, or spiritual, we pray that God would grant you strength and endurance. "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9). If it is relational, we pray for healing and restoration according to His will. If it is financial, we pray for provision. Whatever the source of your suffering, we stand with you in prayer, believing that God can turn your mourning into dancing (Psalm 30:11).
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear one who is crying out in pain. Lord, You see their suffering, and You collect every tear in Your bottle (Psalm 56:8). We ask that You would draw near to them, comfort them, and strengthen them in their weakness. If there is sin that needs to be confessed, reveal it to them, Lord, and grant them the grace to repent. If their suffering is a trial meant to refine their faith, give them the endurance to persevere, knowing that You are with them.
We pray against any spirit of despair or hopelessness, rebuking it in the name of Jesus. Fill this precious one with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). If they do not yet know You as Savior, we pray that they would turn to Jesus today, confessing their need for Him and receiving the gift of eternal life.
Lord, we ask that You would use this suffering for Your glory. Whether You choose to deliver them from it or walk with them through it, may they come to know You more deeply and trust You more fully. Surround them with Your love, and let them feel Your presence in tangible ways. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to hold fast to God’s promises. "And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28). This does not mean that all things are good, but that God can bring good out of even the darkest circumstances. Cling to Him, dear one. He is your hope, your strength, and your deliverer. If you are struggling with thoughts of despair or hopelessness, please reach out to someone you trust, a pastor, a Christian friend, or a biblical counselor. You do not have to walk this path alone. The Lord has placed people in your life to help bear your burdens (Galatians 6:2).
Lastly, we urge you to spend time in God’s Word. The Psalms, in particular, are filled with cries of anguish that turn to praise. Let the words of Scripture wash over you and renew your mind. "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105). Meditate on it day and night, and let it guide you through this valley.
You are loved, you are seen, and you are not forgotten. The Lord is near. Keep crying out to Him, and do not lose heart. "But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31). May you experience His peace and presence in a powerful way today.
